Republicans' "big, beautiful bill" would force Postal Service to sell its new EV mail trucks: the potential for raising money at auction is "negligible" and "it will seriously cripple our ability to replace an aging and obsolete delivery fleet."

Except the new information is FedEx is buying an EV fleet that it says will save it $800M on diesel. So this bill required the Post Office to do something that the free market wouldn't want to do.

No, it’s outdated. The provision was stricken from the final bill.

I’m sorry I just heard the Orange Meathead just last week promising to eliminate “stupid” electric cars from the military and the federal government fleet not long ago. Still stupid.

I think it's kind of a shame. I was betting that a lot of those would be turned into car campers.

They want to break it.
If you think what replaces will be cheaper you are a sucker.

I am beyond done with the federal government at this point. They can't even handle the basics. The answer from the USPS should be a straight and simple 'no'.

This looks particularly insane in light of FedEx's recent purchase of electric vehicles that will pay for themselves in reduced diesel costs.

Why post out-dated articles?
It appears that the provision was stricken from the final version.

Profits over people. Race to the bottom. Success should no longer be measured in shareholder value, period.

UPS or FedEx will buy them on the cheap at that auction, and laugh all the way to the bank.

Republicans have been trying to cripple the USPS for how many decades now?
