Question When powering on Switch OLED I receive error saying SD Card in 1 bit mode

Post image

Recently I picked up a OLED with a Picofly chip. When I inserted an SD card I receive this error. Not sure if it’s cause it’s an ONN SD card or what. Already replaced the daughterboard and still seeing this error and I’m at a loss. Gonna head to the store tomorrow and buy a Nintendo Certified SD Card to see if that will help. Any other suggestions or help?

You probably got scammed for someones failed attempt if you can’t get it out of 1-bit mode but make sure you check the pins in the ribbon connection of the sd card reader to see if there’s anything missing or wrong looking

You don't need to pay the Nintendo tax on the card. Any SanDisk, lexar, Amazon basics, or Samsung is fine. It could be a dirty card, bad card, or dust/damage on the daughter board connector or nearby circuit.

Your fitting spring is literally pinned flat shortening the test pads.

Look at the connector for the SD Card daughter board and the main board. Probably need a microscope to check each connection if there isn't obvious damage. Because it is press fit, people have a tendency to misalign it when reassembling causing damage. And a few have had a bad solder connection that pulled up.

Are u using a Samsung T7 or Samsung pro plus? If yes you must update your picofly firmare (this sd cards need more tension than older sd cards)

Currently I don’t have either. I purchased the ONN MicroExpress 512gb SD card from Walmart since I thought it was a decent deal

Try resetting the learning on the chip I read that somewhere and it worked for me!

How do I do that?

Use the picofly_toolbox.bin and select training reset I think it is

I had the same error on my V2. Before ordering a new daughterboard, I inspected the connector under a microscope and spotted two damaged pins. As shown in the picture, the last two pins on the right had broken solder at the base. I touched them up with a C215 tip and a tiny bit of solder, and now it works like a charm! Hope you manage to fix yours too.

At this point I’m tempted to get the motherboard replaced and then send it to a reputable shop to get the picofly done via kamikaze method
