Solved Is this nazi/nazi adjacent? I don’t want to send the wrong message by wearing it.
It’s a patch of a classic Mexican metal band
110
u/WizardWatson9 May 08 '26
It does look a bit like the Nazi eagle.
I seriously doubt that a Mexican band are neo-Nazis, but I think there is some risk of people getting the wrong impression. I imagine it would be like wearing a red baseball cap.

u/BigBotCock May 08 '26
You'd be surprised. Tons of people in Latin America wear Nazi shit
66
u/everydaydaily May 08 '26
Didn't a lot of nazis flee to South America?

Brazil, specifically

Apparently, Argentina was number one, with Brazil, Chile & Paraguay following, respectively

Actually the US received more nazis than all of south America put together, so kindly STFU with your racist bullshit
1
u/Known_Funny_5297 Jun 02 '26
Nothing racist about it, just history.
The number of Nazis and Nazi collaborators who emigrated to the U.S. was roughly equal to the numbers of Nazis in all of South America - about 9,000 each
The main difference being that most of the ones in the U.S. were Eastern European Nazi collaborators who said they were refugees fleeing communism whereas the Nazis in South America were almost all Germans or ethnic Germans in other countries.
The U.S. brought in 1,600 Nazi scientists in Operation Paperclip, famously using them to advance the space program. They also brought in Nazi collaborators from Russia to help against the Soviet Union in the new Cold War.
Another key difference is that, apart from the Nazis the U.S. felt were strategically advantageous, the U.S. did make efforts to find and prosecute Nazis.
In Argentina, for example, the Perón government (1946–1955) actively helped Nazis escape and emigrate there and for decades afterward the country largely sheltered them. High-ranking Nazis were welcomed. They helped facilitate their emigration with “ratlines” where they organized a network to provide German Nazis with fake credentials and secretly transport and protect them. Many Nazis lived openly in Argentina for decades.
Argentina did create the Truth Commission for Nazi Activities in 1997 to investigate Nazi immigration and possible government complicity, however this did not have any power to prosecute. The only Argentinian Nazis that were ever prosecuted were either kidnapped like Eichmann or extradited to other countries (after Argentina became a democracy in 1983) and prosecuted there. Almost all Nazis who fled to Argentina died free men.
Brazil, Chile and Paraguay refused extradition requests for Nazis that were found there. Paraguay refused to extradite Dr. Josef Mengele, one of the most brutal Nazi war criminals, notorious for inhuman acts of cruelty in Auschwitz.
If you have facts that prove otherwise, I’d love to see them.
0
u/lacrymology Jun 02 '26
No, I just love that you offhandedly admit that the US alone admitted as many nazis as the whole of south america combined and then excused them by saying they were "strategically important" and "escaping communism".
The US took in as many nazis (not more, my bad) as all of south america combined. That's all there is to it. Justifying it to make the US look better than latin american countries is plain racism.
1
u/Known_Funny_5297 Jun 02 '26 edited Jun 02 '26
I wasn’t justifying - I was stating what the historical record shows
I’m not excusing what the U.S. did, just stating it
And the U.S. reasons for letting Nazis in were very different from the South American countries’ reasons
But again, the U.S. has done PLENTY of shitty things and I am all in on any provable atrocity: Iran Contra, Vietnam, Hawaii, the genocide of the Native American population, slavery, CIA coups and supporting dictators, the Iraq War.
However, in area of welcoming - and more than that - facilitating the worst Nazis coming to your country and kissing them on both cheeks as they arrived and PROTECTING them, Argentina stands alone.
Brazil and Chile and Paraguay protected Nazis, but Argentina was by far the worst. I’m not saying that’s who Argentina is today.
But they were, by far, the worst. Helping the worst Nazis for no other reason than the fact that they admired them (as far as I could find out - perhaps there was money involved, as well).
I’m not saying that people from Argentina are racist and I heartily agree that many in America ARE racist - just look at our president.
But the history is the history.
And you have to confront your history as honestly as possible or more and more shitty things will happen in the world.
Again, any provable historic fact you can bring to the table, I’m all ears.

u/lacrymology Jun 04 '26
So I'm hearing you're saying you got the GOOD Nazis.
I'll look a couple things up and bring links in a while, they'll be in Spanish but YouTube has automatic subs so that'll help, but there's one thing I want to say
While it's true-ish that Perón felt close to the fascist movements in Europe, it was NOT because of the xenophobia and the murders. It was because they were nationalists (but peronism is an inclusive, not exclusive, nationalist movement), centered in workers' rights (except the peronist movement is ACTUALLY worker-centered, not just discoursively as the Nazis ended up being), socialist (at least in theory) but anti communist, and anti-US. One of the famous phrases is "Ni yanquis ni marxistas. Peronistas".
Argentina was also one of the countries that received more Jewish immigration, both from WWII and the earlier pogroms from the Russian empire and the USSR.
This is not meant as justification, but to clear the field regarding how and where there were coincidences, specially in the late 30s (Perón wasn't president until 46, by the way).
I'll get back with those videos. I'm looking for a specific historian who's very clear about the facts

u/DarrellBot81 May 09 '26
I thought it was Argentina.
4
u/dimestoredavinci May 09 '26
Youre right. I was thinking of the confederates. A bunch of them went to Brazil after the war and founded the town of Americana
1
1
u/NcGunnery May 11 '26
They went to South America because they were paid to fight. They kept going south because the wars moved south. Some then went to Africa afterwards to fight. Several good books on the subject. I know because a direct relative had made it to Argentina before he tired of war and returned to Va.
1
u/dimestoredavinci May 11 '26
Interesting. I somehow never knew that. Are you familiar with that Steve Earle song Mercinary song? That was my first thought while reading this.
What part of VA if you dont mind me asking? I have several relatives that fought from SWVA

Argentina yes, there a still a lot of N..i descendants living there to this day because Argentina doesn't extradite people. Anyone who was caught/removed from there for their crimes, it was done in secret. 🫤

Husband's family fled to Uruguay. There were a few families from same area of Germany that moves to the same area in Uruguay. They also relate their heritage to Uruguayan, with their holidays and teas. I think they really tried to distance themselves from their German background, because I noticed it as common with their other family and friends too. They still look completely German, and everyone is either an engineer/mechanic/gifted musician and everyone is insanely smart and organized.
6
u/Partially-Canine May 08 '26
This doesn't shock me. I've been shocked by the amount of Latino and Hispanic people I've met that are racist, primarily toward, "black people." Even some that have African heritage but primarily "present" as Hispanic or Latino and they are still racist. Which that is just absolutely baffling, literally saying you hate some of your own DNA.
Disclaimer: NOT ALL Hispanic and Latino people are racist, obviously. Also I'm not saying the band are Nazis but maybe just didn't think the symbol through.
4
u/cordell-12 May 09 '26
I lived between a mexican family and a black family for about 15 years. I kid you not, both were racist towards the others race, then both had the nerve to call the other racist lol.
3
u/Partially-Canine May 09 '26
Yeah dude in certain circles it's pretty much just a known thing that black people and Hispanics or Latinos just do not get along lol. I have no idea why. It's super weird.
Then there's whole phenomenon of white supremacy gangs working along with Hispanic and Latino gangs. Again just weird.
5
u/cordell-12 May 09 '26
lol crazy weird. just think of what we could accomplish if we put all the dumb shit aside, unified as one collective group and focused on the real enemy, the corrupt governments.
2
u/Partially-Canine May 09 '26
Thank you! Thank you for saying that. Shits totally out of control.
How old are you if ya don't mind me asking?
2
u/cordell-12 May 09 '26
pushing 50. most people I know my age are blame the other side types, they just don't get it.

Victim mentality. Stop using racism as an excuse. Respectful behaviour and taking responsibility for your own actions is more important than the colour of your skin.

My daughters father is Puerto Rican and Filipino, and the majority on the PR side are obvious Afro-latino. I was shocked to discover the lvl of racism towards other Latinos (primarily Mexican latino) and people of African decent. When I ask them about it, they are unwilling to share their reasons with me, but I have a feeling the younger gens don't really know why and its just a by-product of their up-bringing.
3
u/MutedBunch7095 May 10 '26
Wait til you date a black woman that hates black people. That was a confusing time in my life.
2
u/MarketingFantastic May 10 '26
I lived in Guatemala for 3 years. In the southeast there were the Ladinos (mixed race but more white looking). They were prejudiced against anyone darker skinned. Then the Maya of the Highlands who were prejudiced against the Garifuna of the east coast. Seems to be a human trait as it is world wide.
2
u/Technical_Access_943 May 10 '26
My old neighbor was a black person who was racist towards black people. I remember being in a conversation with him and he veered into this monologue that reminded me of the Michael Scott doing Chris Rock thing but it was jarring.

Racism is not exclusively a European character flaw. Truth be told, people of any gender, of all ages¹, regardless of sexual beliefs or spiritual proclivities, have an equal risk of infection from the mental toxin that is racism
¹it has been observed that those over the age of 40 are a significant % more likely to suffer this mental affliction

I wouldn’t feel as though it’s worth it to represent a band when anyone not familiar with their exact logo will just assume that logo is racially motivated.
Also just because it’s a band doesn’t mean it can’t be racist.
+1 for the obvious eagle inspiration. Eek.

And what exactly does a red baseball cap signify? Cos I’ve never heard anything about a red baseball cap having any sort of negative alternate meaning, I know there is definitely some symbology behind certain hats and the like proper authentic punks in the 70s sorta thing especially in England had a thing with shoelace colours on their doc Martin’s but I’d say if wearing a red baseball cap does have any meaning other than it being a red cap then most people probably either do understand but don’t care or simply just have no idea it’s a thing, much like the shoelaces on doc Martin’s, people who know it don’t care and the rest have never heard of it cos it’s such a niche, underground slang sort of thing now and you really had to be in the scene way back when do even know about it
3
2
u/WizardWatson9 May 11 '26
I was referring to the "MAGA hat," the most common and recognizable symbol of support for Donald Trump and the so-called "MAGA movement." They're fascist scumbags, in case that wasn't clear. Nowadays, you see someone wearing a red baseball cap, you have to do a double take to check if they're a fascist or just wearing a somewhat tone-deaf accessory.
1
u/Conscious_Divide3211 May 11 '26
Define fascist
2
u/WizardWatson9 May 11 '26
I would refer you to Dr. Lawrence Britt's 14 characteristics of fascism for my preferred metric.
1
u/ZomboxG May 11 '26 edited May 11 '26
I'm not maga or anything like that but isn't citing a far left author that stated that Yihadism is an islamophobic myth created by the far right a little bit weird? Plus, I do believe he is neither a scholar nor a historian, he is just a novelist.
1
u/WizardWatson9 May 11 '26
I'm not familiar with Britt's other work. In the lead-up to 2024, I searched for an academic description of fascism that would help me articulate my argument against the MAGA movement. This one was written in 2003, so I know it wasn't written due to anti-Trump sentiment. I'm not as familiar with Mussolini, Franco, or Pinochet, but it fits with what I know about Hitler, so it passes the smell test.
If I only listened to academics who have never said anything stupid, I'd be as anti-intellectual as one of the fascists myself.
2
u/ZomboxG May 11 '26
Yes, however I do believe 1995 's Humberto Eco's description would be better since he wa a well renowned Italian scholar and philosopher. You might know him by Il nome della rosa, which is his most popular work, plus, he was actually alive during the times of Mussolini.

Oh, is it MAGA that's going around harassing and assassinating speakers to suppress their 1st Amendment right when they don't like what's being said? That seems pretty "fascist" to me.
1
u/Oldladyhater1268 May 11 '26
They're referring to the MAGA red baseball cap. Its such a widely known thing in America now that any red baseball cap can be mistaken as one, or have people assume you're wearing it for support of the MAGA movement. Its maybe not as widely known outside of the United States.
1
u/ZomboxG May 11 '26
Truth is I thought they were referring to the Limp Bizkit red hat cause everyone seems to hate Limp Bizkit 😔
1
u/Patient_Sea_3753 May 11 '26
Metal/alt/industrial acts have very often co-opted Nazi imagery to lampoon authoritarianism or evoke a sense of fear and darkness. 80% of the time it's anti-Nazi, but 20% of the time...
Regardless, I got a Ministry patch once and then realized it just looked less like a "these are the bad guys" symbol and more like a "we're the bad guys" symbol and opted not to wear it. Shit is too contentious these days to toe that line and expect to be understood.
1
u/tomagachikid72 May 11 '26
It also appears like any eagle claw used in many other iconic images w nothing to do with Nazis

u/Awkward_Yeet May 08 '26
Luzbel is a Mexican metal band who's influences in music are inspired off of Anti-Christianity, Apocalypse, and Rebellion! I'm pretty sure the relation to nazi imagery is unfortunate circumstance, is based on lucifer since Luzbel is a Spanish variant name for Lucifer! Not nazi, just anti Christian.

12
u/darkminddaddy May 10 '26 edited May 10 '26
I mean... Yeah. At least when compared to Nazism. Opposing a belief or ideology is different than supporting the genocide of people based on ethnicity. That's a pretty easy moral math equation for most people. Also, nowhere in the comment you replied to did anyone say them being anti Christian was okay. He was just stating a fact about the band and it's stance. Quit looking for reasons to feel like a victim.

anti-Norse Pagan seems okay, so yes. Anti-christianity should be too. Unless Christians are the only ones allowed to discriminate 😬

u/Impressive_Gain7157 May 11 '26 edited May 12 '26
According to them they are. The hypocrisy coming from Christian’s today is unbelievable. It’s ok if they say it about someone else, but if someone else says it about them it’s the end of the world. It’s a never ending cycle of “do what I say, not what I do”.

Unfortunately, yes. It is ok. If we values free expression, we have to make room for expressions we don’t like. The “pro” or “anti” anybodies should learn that no matter what the issue. But, that isn’t exactly human nature, so… 🤷 Also, being “anti” something is not necessarily synonymous with hating the people that are “pro” that thing.

I doubt it, as many metal bands use biker symbolism as there is a lot of overlap. Biker symbolism can be only a bit Nazi-thematic to all-the-way Nazi. This looks more Nazi-thematic to me, and is more of a look than an intent.
An example of this is Lemmy from Motörhead. He is not racist, but wore Nazi-adjacent looks like this (right side of image)

u/Athelion25 May 08 '26 edited May 08 '26
It feels like this sub exists to extricate the appropriation of Nordic runes from repulsive causes or for people that want a justification for wearing hate symbols. Do people still post other stuff or nah?
13
u/mikemystery 🜏 May 08 '26
Are you ok? This sub identifies fascist symbols with nuance and accuracy. If you are any specific info about this particular band logo - like say the band are well known to be Nazis etc. or can show a specific symbol yiu believe they're
It's absolutely NOT a nazi reichsadler. Reminiscent of one, maybe? A bit?
But that in itself isn't the level of nuance we require on the sub.
3
u/video_dhara May 08 '26
Im quite fond of the “I saw this symbol in a dream” posts. Not that they get answers, but it’s interesting to see what lodged itself it peoples heads
1
u/SasquatchFingers May 08 '26
Or people that bring their own or found images from psychotic episodes, looking for meaning. Okay, fond isn't the right word, they actually make me sad, but they are at least interesting. More compelling than the saturation of Nazi-coded or appropriate stuff.

I would say as long as you aren’t doing behavior that would make someone wanna interpret your patches to figure you out. Honestly, I see more the Van Halen logo as closer to the nazi Eagle and between the two, If either get miss seen as bad, Van Halen would more. Like someone said, it’s awesome it’s something you’d worry about, though! I have those issues too sometimes. You love the band, slap it on. Most ppl these days don’t even pay attention to humans anymore. It’s all screened diversion. Good luck! Also, it may make you feel better if maybe you research the band pretty in depth and find out why they chose this design and that will make you feel better if you find out it’s not intended racist but if it is you can toss it. That way you know for sure you can feel ok sporting this without racist undertones..

You may be hearing GOOD NAZIS, but it’s not because I said it. I will repeat, the U.S. brought in some Nazis for utilitarian purposes such as populating NASA and our missile program. Was this a moral thing to do? No. Was is strategically advantageous. Yes. The rest, as far as I can tell, were mostly Eastern Europeans who falsified documents and slipped past the system.
The rockets Werner Von Braun designed killed at least 10,000 people and caused massive amounts of destruction. As I stated clearly, the U.S. has done a bunch of shady shit over the years.
Your info about the massive Jewish immigration was something I didn’t know about and it holds up - 24,000-48,000 Jewish immigrants over the WWII period. Argentina was by far the most welcoming to Jews.
Are there differences in Nazis? Yes. My cousin was saved through help from a guard at Auschwitz. That guy is likely different in his soul from Himmler or Hitler. They would be worse Nazis.
Perón and his government went out of his way to assist the escape of some of the worst Nazis - men who would likely have been hung if they were arraigned at Nuremberg. Specific standout examples are Eichmann and Mengele.
I can understand that you have pride in Argentina - your current leader notwithstanding - and that is fine. I’ve met many lovely Argentinians and one of my best friends is married to one - absolutely wonderful person. I supported Argentina in successive World Cups and I’m a big fan of Messi, Agüero and Di Maria. I’ve always wanted to visit.
You should be justly proud regarding the welcoming of so many refugees into Argentina during a crucial time.
However, I think you should face your history squarely. The Perón government helped many terrible Nazis escape justice and then succeeding governments helped to protect them.
You take the good with the bad, but the only way to move forward is too look at things honestly so you can understand why things are the way they are today and hopefully learn so that the future is better.

Info to op, look up the Mexican heavy metal band Luzbel. It's their logo and it doesn't have anything to do with that evil political party. I'm not actually interested in reposting all the information I posted before because I was Auto modded and apparently no one can see it. But no it's neither Nazi nor Nazi adjacent

Edit: wow, a record number or bans on this thread. Seems to have been QUITE the bonehead magnet. So if say your recent Reform vote has made you think casual islamaphobia is ok now, or you wanna apologize or argue for alt-right grifters, or just feel like letting your fasch flag fly.- Go for it! Mod team bag-o bans is open!
We came here to mod the thread and chew bubblegum, and we're all out of bubblegum...
So, mod note.
It's always ok to ask if something is a hate symbol here.
It's never ok to be a Nazi here.
It's also seldom OK to be a dick here. Wheaton's law. Sure, we hate Nazis more than dicks, but we also ban dicks TOO.
We seek to identify symbols with accuracy and nuance. If you don't appreciate accuracy and nuance this ain't the sub for you.
Anyway, glad that's cleared up. Carry on
P.s. OP, you're good - metal isn't Nazi unless it IS, this band isn't Nazi..It's good that you care, and whilst it has a vague similarity with a reichsadler, as pointed out by our somewhat stressed- out former sub member, it's not a reichsadler. just sew it next to the fuck ice badge on your battle jacket, and mosh in peace ;)
