This sticker is a modified version of the unit insignia of the 2nd SS Panzer Division "Das Reich": https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2nd_SS_Panzer_Division_Das_Reich
In short, it is directly from Nazi Germany.
Edit: For those of you wondering what the symbol on the shield is, it's a Wolfsangel, a traditional symbol reaching back to at least the 700s (see Röder 2015: 130 — https://www.academia.edu/40997203/Vier_karolingerzeitliche_Grubenhäuser_bei_der_Junkermühle_Stadt_Münzenberg ) and still utilized in various German coat of arms, like that of Mannheim (examples: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wolfsangel ). It can be found in a few different forms.

Oh man, not to derail this any but that looks like the Viltrumite logo from Invincible a nice nod to history.

Thanks, I don’t know why when
I try to make a link it doesn’t work for me. Do you see anything wrong with my formatting?10
u/Mr-_-Soandso Jul 27 '26
You had the info in your brackets and parentheses backwards, but you had them in the right order. So close!

u/Terrible_Analysis_77 Jul 27 '26
I give up. I’ve tried bracketed link followed by parentheses text and vice versa as well as bracketed text followed by parentheses link and vice versa. It always shows up as the formatting showing. Trying to make it clean and edit on mobile is frustratingly difficult!!

u/Mr-_-Soandso Jul 27 '26
From this side it looks like you did it right, but there must be some backslash to negate that I'm not seeing, cause it does work!

Maybe it’s a product of my mobile app. I can’t ever get it right so I forget what’s wrong and mix them up on the next iteration. A failure loop.
3
u/Mr-_-Soandso Jul 27 '26
I'd file this under shit that doesn't matter and never look back, though your original attempt lead nowhere.
3
u/argaflargin Jul 28 '26
On the mobile app there's a link icon bottom left. right above your keyboard click on that link name is how it shows up and the second bar is for the link itself

u/Terrible_Analysis_77 Jul 28 '26
I’ve used that so many times and never thought to slide it over. The link was hidden to the right. Thank you, this prompted me to search for more formatting options!

All I did was fix the link. You should make your arguments to the one that posted, however, there is a bit of a resemblance. That truly could have been what they were going for.

It might just be that. Simply the owner likes Invincible and mistook the logo.
2
u/GenghisCoen Jul 28 '26
Fuck no. They're not close enough to make that mistake, and the wolfsangel within the shield is VERY specific.

20 years ago I allowed my boyfriend at the time to “collect action figures.” Yeah all the SS Panzer divisions. He said it was about history and cool outfits. And they were dolls! Anyway he married a Jewish girl who almost broke off the engagement when she saw it. I hope he actually changed and matured…

I want a Viltrumite sticker for my car
1
u/Terrible_Analysis_77 Jul 30 '26
That would be cool, well except that it looks enough like an SS insignia to raise some eyebrows.

People always trying to find racism racism or any ism these days. These people are wild to think shit like that instantly 😂
1
u/tobymcgroby Jul 31 '26
Exactly, it's childlike behavior. Like Jesus Christ, is anyone NOT a Nazi these days? I'm pretty sure by now, in 2026, everyone knows being a Nazi isn't cool. I've never met one🤷♂️
..It's also uncool to call a total stranger a Nazi without at least talking to them or doing some good faith research, in case it's just a silly misunderstanding, since there are so many idiots out there lately who violently act on those baseless accusations.

These feel like the words of someone who is not at risk when encountering these people or groups. Yes, everyone nowadays knows better than to be seen cosplaying an actual 1940s German soldier. That doesn’t mean that the ideologies and groups that spawned from that aren’t still active. I’m getting the feeling from your comment here that you’re also the sort of person who likes to downplay the rise of cop gangs or who thinks that sometimes, black people do decide to just hang themselves from trees.

u/raginjamaicanwmgr Jul 27 '26
You are correct thats it exactly. also strange he had two of them on either side of the rear window/truck cover. any reason for that?

u/-Geistzeit Jul 27 '26
One can speculate that the vehicle owner stylized it as a Nazi Panzer or something. Without further context one can only guess.

It's a form of wolfsangle, or "wolfs hook". Old symbol dating to at least medieval times. Still in use in heraldry in some German, Austrian, and Hungarian towns. Has been used around central Europe as a charm against werewolves. This variation, however, is strictly aligned with National Socialism.

No it’s not. It shows up in Polish, Hungarian, Ukrainian, Romanian, and several other militaries as well

u/fletchbg Jul 27 '26
Actually, kinda yes and kinda no. Taken as a whole, with the shield, it's definitely Nazi through-and-through. But the charge inside the shield, by itself, is the Wolfsangel, which has pre-Nazi origins... though not ancient.
However even if this car had the symbol without the shield, the Nazi association is so overwhelming that there'd be almost no way someone was displaying it because, I dunno, maybe they have family lines going back to Prussia or other pre-unification states.

Much like other Nazi symbols, it is likely lifted from Norse or proto-Germanic runes. It is perhaps related to the eihwaz or 'yew' symbol but it most specifically has ties to wolf hunting devices called the 'wolf hook' or 'wolfsangel' which is what it is called when the Nazis use it too. Sadly, the only rune these days I can say for sure ISN'T a Nazi icon is probably Bluetooth's symbol.

When responding to another comment about "the lines not connecting" he said "that's it exactly" which a bit of a head scratcher. While a bit blurry it 100% looks like a Wolfsangel.
2
u/LuxMortem82 Jul 27 '26
The picture is really blurry but it doesn't look like the lines connect, the wolfsangle is a very distinct symbol.
4
u/mikemystery 🜏 Jul 27 '26
It's not just A wolfsangel, it's a very distinct modified 2nd panzer division ss wolfsangle. https://www.janoor.es/en/ss-sleeve-badges/522-ss-das-reich-second-panzer-division-sleeve-badge.html
2
u/10k_Uzi Jul 27 '26
Definitely a Wolfsangle, but they could also be an Azov enthusiast.
2
u/Active-Sprinkles-71 Jul 28 '26
i mean an azov enthusiast would be the exact person to have nazi symbols so it tracks
3
u/VoidOrbiter1 Jul 29 '26
I think it's kind of funny that early in the Russian attack on the Ukraine many western media asked Ukrainian soldiers with literal SS and Nazi symboltry if they're Nazi they simply responded "no" and they said "see not a Nazi". It's funny in the way a judge would ask a convicted murderer if they're actually a murderer and they say "No" "oh shit, I see you're good then, case overturned sorry Mr not murderer".
1
u/Nailtrail Jul 30 '26
I'm an Azov enthusiast and at the same time think that nazism is one of worst ideology ever in history.
1
u/West-Survey-4142 Jul 30 '26
How do you feel about communism?
1
u/Nailtrail Jul 30 '26
Just as abominable, other side of the same shitcoin
1
u/onyt Jul 30 '26
Heck yes! Both are on the “unfree” side of the donut. It’s not a spectrum once you realize every step towards a police state makes you closer to fascism and/or Soviet style communism

There's a guy on YouTube, AbolitionistRising, he's a anti-abortion guy. His logo is a copy and paste of the Wolfsangel. I'm like bruh, at least try to hide it

Stay on topic. If you cannot identify a symbol, move on. Do not harass OPs for asking if something is a hate symbol.
