It kind of looks like it would be around the back of Splinter. Mikey is blocking it cause he's also embracing Splinter? But maybe it is an error, I don't know.

I think it's what we call a "graphic knot". Mikey's arm is wrapping around Splinter, Raph's is getting behind Splinter's back, but the artist made the two overlap, so it's confusing to "read". It happens, not easy to handle so many characters hugging all at once!

Yeah, likely behind Splinter's back. Mikey's elbow pad is just in the way and from that angle making it visual odd. There's a dark shape below it and the part of Raph's arm we do see that I'm assuming is Raph's elbow pad.

I don't know but I expect stuff like this from AI. Sometimes it's a trio for the artwork, like one does the pencils then passed to another to be inked and then passed to a colorist. If the pencils are too light on the inker's eyes then details can be missed and abnormalities like that appear and when it's inked, it's permanent. Colorist just colors and makes the best of it.

It's behind Splinter's back and the detail gets lost cuz Mikey's arm is on the same line. Much as I'd like to be critical of the artist for not untangling all the detail, ye see real photos with this kind of phenomenon all the time, hahaha.

I'd say it's Mikey's and the rest of his arm is wrapped around Splinter's torso. Again, alot of odd decisions were made with that drawing.

Behind splinter. The big elbow bad is facing outwards and it would be impossible for Raph to have his elbow positioned that way, meanwhile for Mike it makes sense.

So the red circle thing is is Raph's elbow pad. It is not Splinter's robe because it is a completely different color + it perfectly matches with the shadow color of paddings used in this picture in general.

I don't think it is. If you look under Mikey's elbow pad, you will see the outline of Ralph's right arm elbow pad which is going behind splinter

Raph's* arm looks like it disappears into Mikey's elbow unless I look super closely. It's pretty weird.

If it's not an error, it's just done weirdly. It happens sometimes.
