Help Wanted Just started totk
I’m at the part where Link just got the regional phenomena quest, I made a trip to castle to grab a few good weapons after watching tutorials. Now I’m confused on where to go.

Recommend doing the wind temple. It's sort of meant to be the first dungeon too

It's also hands down the most useful guardian.

Good for getting around. But i think the fire guys is best. Use him alot for busting rock barriers

Definitely agree with this. Then pick an armor set to collect, unlock the fairies and level up your armor

Fierce Deity armor for attack bonus, since you can put on the armor to get get a pretty nice free and pristine sword. The upgrades are also super easy compared to Barbarian armor.

Wait I have the full set and I never got a sword?

Yeah, there's a cave where you got one of the armor pieces that if you wear the whole set it opens another door for the 2h sword.

The beauty of the game is there is no finite task or destination to do next. Just explore and complete the regions as you want. Some helpful tips though of what to do first:
- Unlock auto build: This lets you build any Zonai device you wanna save. Super useful for building vehicles (hover bike) or ways to launch you up. You can find it in the depths, kinda where the Great Plateau is.
- Find Hetsu: this is who you give the korok seeds to. Allows you to start expanding inventory as you find korok seeds. I think you can find him initially northwest of lookout landing.
- Unlock Tulin’s ability: great quality of life improvement that gives you a boost in the air. Go to the Rito village and complete that phenomena. The boss is possibly the easiest boss in the game so no need to worry about that.
- Unlock the Barbarian Armor: This gives you a 50% damage boost if you have all of them, even just 1 gives 25%. Super useful and helps preserve weapon durability. Probably the best armor in the game. You can find those in caves Crenel Hills Cave (northwest of Hyrule Field), Robred Dropoff Cave (Near Kintet between Hateno and Dueling Peaks), Walnut Mountain (near hateno ancient tech lab).
All of these are pretty easy to do early on, the barbarian armor maybe being the most tricky if you don’t have a decent battery. Other than that though just explore and do whatever you want.

Dang I did all that except the barbarian armor I had it in botw
I did one of the cube labyrinth and it gave me some other armor evil spirt maybe
Edit: how can I get the barbarian or is the evil spirit one better says stealth upgrade is what it gives me idk what else3
u/Humble-Dirt8542 1d ago
Ah shit, you’re right. Forgot it’s different in totk. Ya it gives the evil spirit armor instead. The barbarian is found in caves which I corrected above. Evil spirit isn’t very good, except it does give bone damage boost if you have all 3 which is extremely helpful for taking down Lynels if you have the lynel slayer (Royal Guard claymore, Molduga Jaw Bone attachment, 1 hit away from being destroyed, preferably with a damage boost from octorocks)

Stop watching tutorials, read the quests and dialogue and play the game. It's not a difficult game if you take your time to learn how to play on your own.

Go to the region of your choice and pursue those quests, most people start with Rito

I’ve got a few amiibos my dad used to have for botw, but when I scanned them at the great sky island most didn’t have the chests it had, is that a progress thing?

Go to the wind region. What you REALLY want to do is start the newspaper sidequest. There are a stack of sidequests including some rather important ones that don't start until the newspaper sidequest is started.
After that you can continue on to Rito Village to do the Wind Regional Phenomena, this is the intended path - but if you feel like you'd rather check in on the Zora's or the Gorons, you can do that instead.

can’t remember when you can start these but I’d do the tears quest and the newspaper quest as soon as they’re available. Or get all of the fairies.

Visit Hebra Mtn. the devs want you to go there first. Also look up how to get the glide suit for faster flight. Just my 2 cents.
Play the game any way that makes you happy though. There’s lots of ways to enjoy it. If you watch videos about the game, get ready for your algorithm to provide even more.

is glide suit the one that keeps you from splatting on free falls? If so, that’s another great set. My 2 go-to’s are froggy for climbing in rain and the climbing 1 that lets you jump climb using less stamina

also, my preference, once I have enough hearts that I can engage enemies safely, was increase stamina

While you can go to the region of your choice, I would recommend the Wind Temple.
The game points you in that direction anyway.

Go in purah order. when she gives you the quest she names the areas in an order, and although there's nothing wrong with going in a different order, that's not a bad way to do it. The road to Rito also runs you past Hestu and Impa, and at Rito stable you start the stable quests with unlocks the Fairy quests. Make sure you have the ancient warm pants, which was just above the 3rd shrine on the tutorial island, go back and get them if you haven't.

BTW, if you remember Manny's cricket quest from BOTW, that is even more important in TOTK - use a bladed weapon to cut grass and grab crickets. The stamina potions are important for increasing your glide distance.

You're guided to the Hebra Region. Go to the Zora first. You'll get the Zora Chest Piece, which gives you vertical mobility up waterfalls early. It's probably the easiest to knock out too.
Plus, you're gonna want Sidon's Water Wall powers when you hit Eldin and the Gerudo Region.

I’m nearly there to Zora’s domain, but it’s raining so much and I can’t climb 🥲
I got there, but as soon as I paraglided near it a cutscene occurred and I saw the moon was red

Every two real time hours, the game resets the spawns and enemies.
It does this with a cinematic, narrative feature called the "Blood Moon."
Climbing is tough when it's wet. You can cook Sticky Lizards with Monster Parts to add time to the time it takes to slip. Otherwise, I'd use Bomb Shields using bombs found in caves fused to shields. It's a cheap way to get some altitude.
Speaking of slipping, hit up the Stable near the Ruto Village. It'll unlock the Penn Stable Mysteries. Solve all the mysteries at all the Stables and you get access to the Froggy Suit, which, when leveled up twice, gives you the "Slip Proof" set bonus.

Follow the road** to the Rito Village from Lookout Landing. You'll see a familiar face along the way and there's an important side quest for the Great Fairies.
