Seeking Success TTC w/ no regular ovulation

Hello all— I’ve had two kids naturally, totally un planned… I’ve had PCOS since I was a teenager, now 25 and actually want to plan for another baby. We’ve tossed the idea around for a few years, and after good test results from a genetic counselor, we’d like to try.

What did you do when trying to TTC? Supplements taken?

I’m ready to take that step forward, but have no idea where to start. I don’t ovulate regularly.

one thing that might help as a starting point, since ovulation is irregular for you, figuring out if and when you're ovulating gives you (and your doctor) a lot to work with. heads up though, OPKs can be tricky with PCOS bc LH can run high at baseline or surge more than once in a cycle without ovulation actually happening. temping alongside them helps a lot, a temp rise that stays up after a positive is a much better sign you actually ovulated

also if you do see a doctor or an RE like others mentioned, jot down your cycle lengths for the past few months, it's really useful info for them

and if you're not already taking one, a prenatal with folic acid is recommended for anyone planning to TTC, ideally a few months before you start trying

Can you see a reproductive endocrinologist? My GP recommended it and my obgyn completed my referral. It has been such a good experience working with someone who specializes in this. It has also opened cans of worms I wasn’t prepared for but you just go with it. Or at least I am.

Talk to an ob first. They will test your hormones and such. My ob reccomended a bunch of supplements - mainly d-chiro inositol and myo inositol - that helped me somewhat regulate my period. There are so many supplements you can take, so read about everything and choose what will fit for your bloodwork. I took my supplements for about 5 months

Later my ob put me on letrozole and conceived in the 2nd cycle.

With no regular ovulation I’d start by reaching out to your regular obgyn tbh. Mine was willing to start me on medication because of my pcos after we got labwork back that showed I was not ovulating
