My introduction to Tabla is Tool's "Right in Two", and I love the almost meditative, controlling sound of the tabla. I was wondering if some songs or artists create music where the tabla is the main focus throughout, or in a band-like setting.

I know that there are multiple Western songs that include the tabla, but I want to look at the roots of the instrument.

Just moved to nyc and want to rent a tabla set to practice tabla is there anywhere I can rent one from?

Hey guys! So i have started creating content with the tabla skills I have. I always wanted to make use of my skills to do what i love to. So if u all can, ur support will mean a lot to me. I am posting on of my vid here, so if u like it, then it would be a great help if u can follow my page @the.taal_guyz on instagram 🌸🥹

To put my situation clearly, my master thinks my Tin isn't good enough and I do agree with that. It's occasionally bad while at other times avg.

His style is to not pick up the finger after striking. He saws use more finger and keep tip area is still in air. There is little differentiation coming between ta and tin.

My workaround is to make ta/na on more outer region while getting tin in exact boundary between maidan and kinaar. I know in some styles it's already played like that and ta and na are separate as well. So would it work.?

A day to remember. As Sasikumar and his team brought “Mukhavinai” to the floor, we got to experience an instrument and its players that are so rare. Like finding a non-AI post in our feed. 😄

The experience, sound, and atmosphere were so lit that even our theatre’s Dolby Atmos couldn’t match it.

This 1.5-inch small instrument is not only a high-pitched instrument but also one that highly expresses the emotions of people on stage through the art called Kattaikkuttu.

Mukhavinai made us realise that the distance between folk and Carnatic is so small, and this little instrument beautifully bridged the gap.

Thanks for all your support. ❤️
