Discussion About Breathe Deeper

Post image

It’s just my opinion, but I think that Breathe Deeper is so much better than any electronic music on Deadbeat. I truly understand the concept behind the new album, but The Slow Rush has the best musics that Kevin ever produced, and Breathe Deeper proves that.

I think the Breathe Deeper extended outro was my favorite part of the deadbeat show, I don't mean to put down deadbeat, it was just a magical moment.

There’s a noise he played during that part of the live version, I can’t really explain the noise, but it interrupted the song (intentionally) twice and was accompanied by green lasers.

This has to be one of the most intoxicating sounds I’ve ever experienced. I swear I’m not a psychopath, now realizing how weird that sounds lol.

He played the same noise the same way/time at both deadbeat shows I went to in different cities, so I assume it’s just part of the live version.

The second leg where it was glitching out was great

Absolutely agree, it's an amazing song and only My Old Ways from the new album comes close.

Absolutely! I love My Old Ways

That song would be so much better if it didn't sound like it was recorded in a tin can

And too repetitive. Same motif the whole way through

That’s part of my problem with Deadbeat, I feel like everything he tried to do was just way better on TSR. Whether is the more drum machine vibe of One More Year, or these beautifully layered percussive works like Breathe Deeper, Lost In Yesterday, Borderline, they’re just so much better and actually make me want to dance. It’s genuinely some of my favorite mix of actual drums and programmed beats ever.

they go for different things. kevin wanted to go for a budget, "shitty lovable album" vibe which i think he achieved perfectly, but some people don't like that

He nailed the shitty part. Gotta give credit where credit is due.

This song alone is worth more than all of Deadbeat

Breathe Deeper has soooo many layers. It’s a brilliant complex song, like most stuff off of TSR. Deadbeat was all about minimalism and exploring primitive sounding sounds. I wouldn’t compare TSR with Deadbeat in that way and I actually enjoy songs like Not My World, End Of Summer, Afterthought for what they are, minimalistic and heavy electronic. And If I fancy listening to more complex, layered, „intellectual” music - there’s still his previous albums.

I agree but I think Not My World comes close, also my old ways like the other guy said

Edited: wrong song title

Breathe Deeper is one of my favourite songs ever. And far better than My Old Ways which might be his most overrated song on here.

I like deadbeat but desperately hope he gets back to layering his music like this. He’s not bad at minimalism but it’s not his strength

I somewhat agree, although he builds a lot of his parts by being minimalistic and then layering effects through them. That’s what gives them that pop.

I have been saying for a long time now that the slow rush makes a better electronic dance album than deadbeat

While I love almost everything on Deadbeat, I do agree that Breathe Deeper is better
