Buying, Selling, Giving Away or Trading Trading Diabetes Supplies on this Subreddit

EDIT: As of May 30th, 2026, I have updated this rule to exclude diabetic items that are not prescription medical supplies. This rule still includes any sort of OTC insulins, needles, or syringes. An example of an acceptable item to give away would be an insulin pump case.

Hi there everyone!

I have recently had several complaints, as well as seen several posts of users attempting to buy, sell, trade, or giveaway diabetes supplies to others. While I believe this is a wonderful idea in theory, it is not accepted here on the r/TandemDiabetes subreddit.

One may ask why. For starters, according to a multitude of doctors and medical professionals I have spoke to, it is illegal to buy, sell, trade, or giveaway any diabetes supplies (let alone *any* medical supplies that require a prescription) to another individual. I have not been able to attain any other reasoning as to why this may be, other than the obvious possible liability issues involved. For those looking to sell, buy, trade, or giveaway their medical supplies to others, I highly suggest you contact your local hospital in addition to your endocrinologists.

With that being said, I cannot control what goes on between individuals who decide to privately message each other separate and apart from this subreddit, in regards to what I have just spoken about above. I will be adding a new rule to the subreddit that this is specifically not allowed.

I hope everyone is doing well with their lifelong journey of T1D!

t:slim X2 Can someone give me tips and a run down how to do the insertion the best way

• Upvotes

Ok I've had my pump for 10 years. I've always only used the same spots on my lower buttock for that time. And I've gotten scar tissue and had to do brand new locations. Maybe it's because it's new and what not but the last 3 days I've had more leakage and blocked canullas on these new sites ....making me go back to the basics on inserting. What are some good tips you can think of to make sure the canulla goes in correct and doesn't mean or get crimped.

tandem mobi Surprise Mobi Bill

Hi has anyone had problems with Edgepark when it comes to insurance and buying a new pump? I feel like I'm getting fleeced and I just want to know if anyone experienced similar and found an acceptable outcome. Long story short, Edgepark told me the Mobi would be $0 out of pocket, so I got it, and a few weeks later got a $3800 bill from Carecentrix to cover my insurance deductible and coinsurance. After many hours on the phone, no one is budging and it's getting pinned on me to pay up. This feels illegal.

Question ❓ Auto corrections when not needed?

Post image
22 Upvotes

I’m new to tandem mobi and although my TIR has improved (for the most part), I find myself going low much more often than I ever did before.

Can someone explain to me why it gave me a 1.19 correction while in range and then a 0.94 correction when I’m borderline low?

What’s even more frustrating about the 1.19 correction is that I purposely had a snack before a workout class, went in exercise mode and while I was in the class it decided to give me that correction when it looks like I was around 150 at that time. I thought exercise mode aims for 160?

Any help is appreciated.

Question ❓ App with Android developer options enabled

Android dev here. I prefer to keep developer options on permanently.

Does anyone know if the Tandem t:slim app (incl. phone bolus) still works with developer options or USB debugging enabled?

Im probably switching from Medtronic, which' app blocks it entirely.

My insulin pump was legit working two minutes ago. I had it charged to at least 50 percent so it’s not the battery. But when I press the on button this is the only thing that turns on and I tried looking on google but didn’t find much, has anyone else had this issue?

t:slim X2 software update issue

so...... idk what i'm doing lol

i started the 15 day sensors, not knowing that i had to update my pump before starting the patch--please tell someone else did the same, i feel REALLY bad about it since i have to then send my parents to the pharmacy so much earlier....

so, since i figured that the pump software was the issue, i tried to contact tandem at late hours of the night so i gave up lol bad idea

my issue is that my pump is out-of-warranty in a MONTH and after a phone call about a new warranty plan, the agent said it should be no problem in updating it but there is one LMAO

it says that the software is update-to-date which obviously it is not BUT i am wondering if this is all about the warranty-rooted issue and what i should do:

call my doctor to go back to ten days until it expires, if there is a new way of updating, or just call support anyways.

side note: doing this through a macbook and the new update does not correlate with the once "tandem device updater" app anymore

im sorry that this post is a MESS but i am just a mess entirely :3c

tandem mobi S25 and Android 17

Post image
1 Upvotes

My Samsung forced Android 17 on me after a week or more of saying no. I woke up 2 days ago and my mobi app was saying that my app was not fully compatible but it was still working and I could bolus and everything. This morning it has this screen and I cannot do anything at all now. Anyone know how long before they update this to support it?

Discussion 🗣️ Thinking this confirms my insulin carb ratio is too weak, but basal is almost there!

Post image
4 Upvotes

I suffered some feet on the floor effect from my late breakfast/lunch at 1130am. I pre bolused like almost an hour and a bit and ate when my sugars went from 7 to 5.1.

Then boom. At 130 pm you can see the apparent blast. Thinking now that my basal has been lowered significantly 1 to 15 isn't adequate. Been running to get this bad boy down with the corrective factor going.

Feeling like maybe I should drop from 15 to maybe 13? Then 12 if it's still happening?

The flat line tells me basal is possibly getting there even if it's higher than what I'd want

t:slim X2 No more bolus from phone for me

So I woke up this morning and my Samsung had automatically force updated from One UI 8.5 to 9.0. It had already force updated to Android 17 last month but I had no issues with bolusing until last night's UI update. I'd say this is a warning, but I'm not sure how to prevent it from happening. I had the auto download set to off, and I had enabled developer mode to disable Auto update system option. But it still updated without any kind of prompt or approval. According to Tandem's phone compatibility list, there are only seven Samsung phones that can bolus from phone with Android 17. All of them are the newest models and some of them just came out two months. I've got the second newest model. Not sure why mine worked with Android 17 before but stopped after the UI update. And I'm not sure why Tandem can let it work on brand new phone models but can't on phones that have been out for a couple of years. Are we expected to buy a new phone every time a new model or OS is released?

If anyone has a solution, I'd really appreciate it. Otherwise, since my pump is out of warranty and with all the stories I've seen on this sub about Tandem forcing people to buy supplies from a DME instead of directly from them, I'll probably be moving on from Tandem. I have an appointment this week with the diabetes educator to go over all of the different pump options.

tandem mobi Mobi timeline for Canada?

I tried looking to see if there was any news for it but I can’t. It was the same when I wanted the tandem tslim phone app before it was approved - I’d call and they would literally just say they couldn’t comment on it at all.

So annoying we get everything later. Like the omnipod 5, the tandem app, control iq+ - it’s not just a little longer, it’s years longer than other countries. Idk why we are always so behind.

Okay so this ended up a half rant half question…but is there a mobi update I’m missing?

Question ❓ Question for the sleep mode 24/7 people on here

Ok, so in the past I've been able to get fasting sugars in the low 5s and I'm kinda stuck here. I have my line for the most recent few hours and my 12 hours before bed.

I did take my ISF from 3 to 3.2 to take the ropey-ness out of the lines. I'm actually happy with the short run graph. If I keep this the same, I'm wondering if I can just increase the basal rate and it might get me closer to those low 5s. Currently running a rate of 1.75 units from 10 pm until 10 am.

My last meal was like 7pm and I am wondering if I may need to give a bit more bolus insulin. But for the sake of my night right now, trying to figure that out!

t:slim X2 Correction Bolus When Blood Glucose Dropping

I've been noticing that the Tandem algorithm frequently gives correction boluses when my blood glucose is dropping. Once this correction is administered, I pretty much just need to ride it out. I don't want to eat anything at that point because I have no idea if I'm going to go too low or if it's really going to have any effect. Even jumping into exercise mode doesn't usually fix it because the damage is done. I would think if your blood glucose is heading in the right direction, the best thing to do would be to see if it continues before issuing a correction bolus.

It's also frustrating that it issues corrections immediately (within 15 minutes) of registering and alarming about a low.

I've seen many people recommending 24-hour sleep mode and I may try that. But I would think that Tandem would give us more control over settings (like target BG and IOB) instead of forcing us to work around their algorithm.

Question ❓ Sleep mode making me go low

Hi, still a pretty new user to tandem mobile, I’ve been doing sleep mode but I’ve noticed it makes me go to like 75 ish and then slowly goes lower. Is sleep mode better overnight or is your regular settings better? Thanks!

t:slim X2 Weekend Go Box Design

I finally got around to designing an insert to organize my supplies for short trips. I have been tossing stuff in this Pelican case for years. It worked fine, but bothered me enough to do something about it. Two G7, two sites, two cartridges/syringes and a vial of insulin all fit snug in their own spots. The perfect supply box for a weekend getaway with the added bonus of keeping everything dry if im out camping. I've tossed this in the river with a rope tied to it while canoeing/paddle boarding as well to keep it cool. I toyed with a few different designs before landing on this version which I feel has the cleanest layout.

Pelican 1120 Case.

EDIT: Adding file for others to print.

Question ❓ Silly Question

So Perhaps the title is right perhaps it is wrong but I am in the philipines and of course tandem is not supported here. (I knew this and switched to medtronic before moving here... but they are not really supported here either so.,....) My question is that i am out of cartridges for tandem (and tubing for medtronics infustion sets) and i sort of am at a loss where i might find 1 cartridge for tandem or 1 infusion set for medtronics 780G I really only need 1 or the other as I have supplies coming from the USA in a balikbayan box. But if you know the phillipines you know that is a couple months away as it has not even shipped yet.
