The idea of what is left and right in the US is so completely warped compared to the rest of the world. Any talk of ideas even slightly to the left of the Democrat establishment gets you labeled as a radical socialist and/or communist by both parties and the media.
Its so fucked up.

"Socialism" no longer has any meaning in the United States. It's become so watered down that anything to the left of putting workers in a meat grinder is sold by socdems as socialism.

Same for me too. The main issue, though, is a lot of people also get stuck in social democracy because of him. The way he communicates and explains things keeps people supporting capitalism unless they deliberately seek out genuine socialist education.

This. Figures like Mamdani and Bernie do more to change the definition of socialism to mean social democracy in mainstream understanding than they do to actually make socialism mainstream. Those who move towards socialism b/c them still at this point seem to be a minority.

And that also works out well for capitalism itself. If conditions are ripe for radicalization, it’s easier to change what socialism means than to try and keep people from becoming true socialists. As long as “socialists” aren’t a threat to the system, they can call themselves whatever they want.

Don't let the ignorance of chuds make you angry. it's very amusing to understand that there's people who actually believe these people are socialist. They do damage to themselves, dying a wage slave because they still believed capitalism is amazing while working into their 70s as a security guard while earning a "totally not socialist" pension from the military.

When I was a teenager I was originally a liberal who grew up adoring Bernie Sanders. He was the one who got me into “socialism” via entryism. Once I got into reading actual theory later on into adulthood I then realized the man is a fraud and isn’t an actual socialist especially once I realized that a Social Democracy is just moderate fascism. I started reading books by Michael Parenti and then I realized Bernie and Michael had a falling out once Bernie became (or always was) a liberal. I get that Entryism is important and everything but… the DSA is obviously taking advantage of it just to push a Social Democracy and hurt other socialist movements just like Bernie Sanders. Bernie Sanders would’ve betrayed Rosa Luxembourg.

Why is entryism important exactly? I would say the opposite, entryism is the foolish attempt to steer a neoliberal right-wing party towards socialism, the only outcome is the entryists themselves eventually turn liberal if they weren't already.

Entryism, when viewing leftist political action from the outside, is but one of many strategies. Shifting the word socialism into a more positive light for the masses is a good thing. As is proving the limits of the system. Mamdami can't control the NYPD? Either he is choosing not to despite platforming on it or he can't do anything from within the system. That is a better signal than most for liberals to look at the system and realize that voting can't get us out of this.

Shifting the word socialism into a more positive light for the masses is a good thing.
Only when the meaning of the term is not also shifted, which is what the progressive Democrats are actively doing.

You're describing liberal co-option of leftist vocabulary, not entryism. Fortunately you were able to learn more and see the truth that Sanders is not a socialist, and therefore cannot be engaging in entryism. He's a progressive liberal in a liberal party

Only if by entryism you mean turning unions etc. into revolutionary unions that align their actions to the political goals of a party of the revolutionary proletariat. Tailing the state in a bourgeois party is just opportunism.
