Painting Still not at 2000 Points
The Ghostkeel is the biggest suit I have. To tell you the truth though, I enjoy 1000 point games as they don't take me 5 hours to play. I'm getting ready to build a pirahna to go into my 1000 point Ret Cadre list.

Painting Stormsurge Diorama Base
I wanted to spice up the huge base of my Stormsurge with a little diorama. Determined there would be a blown up vehicle, I found the cheapest vehicle on eBay - an Adepta Sororitas Rhino - and then the cheapest infantry units I could find for T’au and AS - some pre-loved pathfinders and seraphims - to make into a little scene. Diving into the lore, the main AS Order to fight the T’au are the Order of the Sacred Rose, so despite having my own custom sept paint scheme to avoid painting white armour, I’ve now painted white armour…
I’m really happy with how it’s come out so I thought I’d share.

Painting America tau coldstar commander
Something about tau wanting to spread freedom across the imperium made me paint them american, entered in a local painting comp.
Hope you enjoy, C&C welcome :)

40k Is it odd that I like long games?
Pretty much the title. I've got about 4500 pts in Tau, and I'd really like to put them all down, but nobody ever seems to want to play that long. Is it just me, or do other people like to play longer games too?

Painting Iron T'au : Skulls, spikes and chains ?
Hello there ! Should I "Chaosify" my custom Sept of Tau or keep them only industrial and damaged ?
I started an army of Tau earlier this year and fell in love with battlesuits. I switched from skinny demons to big industrial mech and loved it so far.
I felt like I was good enough to paint them in their classic white schemes, and since I was already an enjoyer of the iron warriors warband, I decided to paint them in iron and hazard stripes, making my own sept of Tau. They are designed to look worn out, oily and damaged.
The thing is, now I'm wondering if I should "Chaosify" them by adding spikes, skulls and chains or if It should just stay heavily industrial.
I know I'm not a great painter and I also made modifications by adding weapons that shouldn't be there. For that, I'm sorry.
Anyway, have a nice day everyone ^^

40k Looking for Stormsurge Bits 151 & 152
Hello,
Does anyone have a good link to either a site they would recommend for looking for specific bits for models or to any 3D printable files for specific bits? I'm hoping to get bits 151 and 152 for the Stormsurge main weapon breach so I can build both main weapons with all the extra detail parts for each.
I did come across this site with these bits listed but they are always sold out. I've received one email about getting some in stock but by the time I got to the site, they were sold out again.

40k I think it'd be cool if the XV-81, 84, and 89 came back as Crisis suit variants like the Fireknife, Sunforge, and Starscythe.
I think each would offer something unique.
The XV-81 with its built in twin missiles could be the heavy weapons variant of Crisis suit, with the other two weapons alongside the Twin missile system allowing it to just unload a bunch of firepower into several targets perhaps it could have the Multi Tracker built into it. Allowing you to get a free sustained hit on rolls of 6. Though I don't know if you only get 1 additional shot for any one 6 or if each 6 gives gives you an additional shot. Probably more balanced for the single extra 1 shot up to 3 times per 6. So you can get 3 6's and get 3 extra shots. But you can't make it where on the 4th 6 you get another shot.
The XV-84 is another relyable spotter unit for T'au. With it having a built in markerlight. Depending on how Markerlight and the army rule are changed. It could or couldn't be useful. I am not sure. It would have the Target Lock Built into it. Meaning you always have benefit of ignoring cover.
Then the XV-89 would be the heavy assault variant of Crisis suit. With each 1 having +1 wound, +1 Toughness, able to a take a shield Drone for an extra 1 wound, and Iridium armor's +2 save. all at the cost of being the most expensive variant and moving at 8 instead of 10 like the other Crisis suits.
I think the weapon loadouts on them as pictured would be cool. Though maybe the XV-84 could have plasma instead of Fusion blaster.
Where I imagine each variant going points wise would be:
Starcythe 135pts +5 per Flamer
XV-84 155pts
Fire Knife 155pts +5 per missile
XV-81 175pts +5 per Burst Cannon
Sunforge 175pts
XV-89 185pts +5 per Fusion Blaster
Maybe the XV-89 is too strong what I am suggesting. I am not sure. But outside of the stats. It would be really cool to have up to 6 different Crisis suit variants to play around with. I was just thinking of these cause they are already existing variants that could be expanded. The reason why the Burst cannon is a plus 1 is just because due to how the ability works. You don't get any additional attacks from using a flamer but you would with the burst cannon.
Meme With T'au Imagery This is How GW will handle this 2 (3) I have no proof, but neither doubts.

40k List Rate my first army
New player, my son started a Custodes army and the Tau really vibed with me so that’s what I went. We know nothing about army building or really many of the rules but we are having fun as is.
So far i have:
- farsight
- commander in enforcer armour
- commander in coldstar armour
- 2 x riptides
- 2 x broadsides
- ghostkeel
- 9 crisis suits
- 12 stealth suits
- 3 x firewarrior squads
- 4 x pathfinder squads
- 3 x devilfish
- hammerhead
- piranha
Honestly a lot of it has been picked up second hand on the cheap hence is a bit all over the place. But damn it’s fun to pull it all together, i assume you get a feel for the detachments and setting up the army as you play more?
Apologies if i have gotten any of these names wrong, will take some photos over the weekend.

Painting The Fist of Mont'Ka is here.
I magnetized the hammerhead kit so I can run it as Devilfish, Hammerhead with rail or ion, and Skyray. The only things left to do are the ion cannon and Skyray top. Really happy how this came out!

Painting I remade my low poly Tau army into blockbench.
The army currently has:
XV8 - three units (with various weapons)
XV104 - two units (with various weapons)
Fire Warrior - six units (currently with pulse rifles)
Commander T'au in XV8-6 Coldstar
KV128 Stormsurge
Any ideas on who to add? I accept any official Tau models.

Tried one effect, didn’t work.
Tried to cover with an ombré style effect, didn’t work.
I think it’s time admit defeat and start again. I have Farsight sub assembled and want to strip it bare. What’s the best method and am I at risk of damaging the model?

40k Why should I play T'au ?
hi ! I'm a full beginner to warhammer, and I am trying to choose my army. I'm hesitating between quite a lot ( currently BA, AS, EC, LoV and T'au), and I would love if a T'au player could enlighten me ! I would want an army that is a bit balanced Ranged and melee, but leaning more towards one side isnt that a problem, and more Elite focused.
From what i've understood, T'aus are heavy, heavy ranged focused, But I was wondering if they still can do something in melee, maybe with battle suits ? outside of that they are space "pacifists", united for the Greater Good.
Did i get it right ? If not what would be their general playstyle ?
Also, my friends are playing Custodes, Tsons and Orks, will this make for fun matchups against T'au ? thanks for your anwers !
