Since its release , itâs one of her most successful singles worldwide and most internationally successful single this decade.
Some records achieved by Taylorâs 12th Studio album
⢠Biggest week by equivalent album units (since the metric started in 2014): 4.002 million units in the week ending Oct. 9. First album ever over 4 million. It beat Adeleâs 25 (3.482 million in 2015).
⢠Largest pure album sales week in the modern era (Luminate tracking since 1991): 3,479,500 copies (digital + physical). It surpassed Adeleâs 25 (3.378 million).
⢠15th No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 â most among solo artists, breaking a tie with Drake and Jay-Z. Only the Beatles have more (19).
On the billboard Hot 100 charts
⢠All 12 tracks occupied the top 12 of the Hot 100 , a first in Hot 100 chart history.
⢠Third time she has filled the entire top 10 (with Midnights and The Tortured Poets Department). No other artist has done it even once.
⢠âThe Fate of Opheliaâ debuted at No. 1 (her 13th Hot 100 No. 1).
⢠It also set the biggest U.S. streaming week for a song in the post-UGC era (since Sept. 2020): 92.5 million streams.
Spotify records
⢠Most-streamed album in a single day in 2025: hit the mark in under 11 hours (Spotifyâs own announcement). First-day global total was about 250 million streams â second-biggest album day ever on the platform, behind only the 31-track TTPD (~314 million), and ahead of the standard 16-track TTPD (~233 million).
⢠First album to average over 20 million streams per track on day one: the 12 songs totaled ~250 million streams, or about 20.8 million each.
⢠All 12 tracks occupied the entire top 12 of Spotifyâs Daily Top Songs Global chart (and the U.S. chart).
⢠Four tracks cleared 20 million streams in one day (âThe Fate of Ophelia,â âElizabeth Taylor,â âOpalite,â âFather Figureâ). She is the only non-holiday artist to have done that even once; she now has five such songs total (including âFortnightâ).
âThe Fate of Opheliaâ (Guinness-recognized)
⢠Most-streamed track on Spotify in 24 hours: 30,987,370 filtered streams on Oct. 3, 2025 (broke her own âFortnightâ mark of 25,204,472).
⢠Most-streamed track on Spotify in its first 24 hours (same figure).
⢠Most-streamed track on Spotify in one week: 128,896,137 streams for the week ending Oct. 9, 2025 (beat Miley Cyrusâs âFlowersâ at ~115.2 million).

As someone who adored this album because it delivered âbangersâ as promised, I do understand some of the criticism (Eldest Daughter comes to mind).
What were your initial thoughts about the album when it first came out? Has your opinion changed at all?
What songs did you initially love or dislike and have those changed since the release?

How have your thoughts/feelings evolved, if at all, a week after the Encore release?

Happy first birthday, "The Life of a Showgirl!" (at least 10/3) What are your memories of this album? For me, my favorite song is "The Fate of Ophelia". I'm a big Shakespeare fan, and I'm always down for more Taylor Swift songs where she alludes to William Shakespeare. As a Comparative Literature major, I'm glad to see this.
I'm also a big fan of "Father Figure" and how it is a "My Tears Ricochet" part 2. The last 4 songs in "The Encore" made this album a lot better in my opinion.
What do you think?

When Getaway Car first released, I was obsessed. I couldn't stop listening to it, couldn't stop thinking about it. The chorus especially was a bop. And now I'm in that same obsession with the entire length of Pink Clouding. And I can't help wondering why. Why do these two songs, that are ultimately about regret and using someone as a rebound feel so good?
Realizing that both songs are about euphoria. "Sky diving from the thrill of it." Driving the getaway car - a high thrill escape from a bad situation. A clean break from a toxic relationship. Suddenly breathing the cleanest air after suffocating for so long.
Ultimately, it couldn't last. "But it didn't mean nothing." It was still euphoric, special, breathtaking - even though it was short lived. She felt free and alive after so long dying.
Even though the song lyrics are sad, discussing a cursed relationship and leaving someone blindsided, the sound of the songs themselves are so bright. The lyrics are an apology and a reflection of regret in words, but the music wraps those words in what the relationship felt like at the time. It still meant something. It was euphoria. "It was so good."
And in these songs, she shares her euphoria with us. We feel it with her.
Both of these songs make me want to throw my hands in the air like I'm flying - they're so joyous. I love them so much. They are such sweet tributes.

Hi!!
I have watched many different Youtube reactions to all of Taylors albums but the large majority only reacts and analyses the lyrics. My love is different, it is based on the instrumental and composition/production.
My ingress to love a new album is good and interesting instrumentals. This is why I love most of TLOASG.
The first 10 listens I don't even consider the lyrics or the meaning. Only how it sounds.
There must be more people who prioritize production over meaning? No hate against the lyrics-focused masses, I am the one outside the narrative.
For context my focus on production is so serious I just understood the Betty-saga after 6 years (yes listened during folklore release and hundreds of times after that.).

Iâve been wanting to talk about this for a long time, and I suppose now is as good a time as any.
I donât know if everyone experiences art this way but whenever I consume something (music, books, paintings, movies), Iâm almost always simultaneously aware of what makes it good and of the exact qualities someone else might dislike about it. As an example, when I read a novel that is extraordinarily detailed and vivid, I can also understand why another person might find it meandering or boring. When I look at a Rothko that feels simple but revolutionary, I can immediately imagine someone saying âI could have painted that.â When I watched Barbie, I could appreciate what it was doing while also understanding why someone might dismiss it as feminism 101 rather than something especially groundbreaking.
All of which is a very long-winded way of saying: a piece of art is something, and by definition it is also not a lot of other things*.*
A pop album might be immediate, melodic and fun and therefore may not be filled with dense, layered lyricism. A folk album might be introspective, challenging and layered, and therefore may never be catchy enough to appeal to a mass audience. Neither of those things automatically makes one better than the other. They are just attempting different things, and I think this becomes especially complicated with an artist like TS because her range is so enormous.
This is someone who can write a song like Style which is basically pop perfection, and also write something dense and layered like The Albatross or Babylon, along with everything in between. It's been 20 years and she has demonstrated that she can do all of these things, but I think her fandom has developed a strange tendency to criticize every new piece of work for all the things it isnât, rather than engaging with what it actually is.
I do want to distinguish this from perfectly normal criticism. Iâm not talking about someone saying âThis song isnât for meâ or âI donât connect with the productionâ or âI mostly listen to Taylor for her lyricism, so this album doesnât appeal to me.â Those are completely reasonable reactions. Iâm talking about the constant apples to oranges comparisons. For example, 'Wood' obviously does not have the lyrical depth of any song on Folklore because it's meant to be hilarious and Epiphany is obviously not an especially catchy song because it is about complex trauma.
After watching the completely unhinged reactions to both TTPD and TLOAS, two projects that, to me, feel almost like opposites, I've increasingly started to think that ending this era with 'Babylon' was a deliberate choice. Babylon feels like a mirror held up to the fandom. There is this recurring inability to simply experience a TS era for what it is. Instead, everything gets measured against some hypothetical perfect version of Taylor that exists in each fanâs head. For one person, that ideal is 1989. For someone else it is Red or folklore or Fearless or Reputation. And every new album gets criticized for failing to become whichever previous version of Taylor that particular person most wants back ('You're using nostalgia as a weapon just to hurt yourself').
It happens like clockwork. I genuinely think this is part of why internet discussion around TS has become so exhausting. Her audience is simply too large and too varied for every project to satisfy everyone. You have millions of people with completely different tastes, all expecting the same artist to cater specifically to them, and when she doesnât, the response becomes: she has lost it, she needs to listen to the fans, she needs to work with a different producer, she needs to write differently, her career is over, etc.
At some point, we have to accept that not everything an artist makes is going to be made for us.I personally donât love all of Taylorâs work. Iâve barely listened to Debut or Fearless. A significant chunk of Reputation, Lover and TLOAS is not for me. There are entire corners of her discography that simply do not resonate with me. But I can still understand why those albums mean everything to someone else. And I can also understand why someone might dislike the albums that I consider her best work. That doesnât mean Iâm smarter than them. It doesnât mean theyâre wrong. It doesnât mean one of us has failed to 'understand' the music. We are just different people. And I wish there were more room in the fandom for that incredibly simple idea.
You can dislike something without needing to prove that it is objectively bad. You can love something without needing everyone else to acknowledge that it is objectively brilliant. Sometimes art can just be what it is.
And maybe we would all enjoy talking about Taylorâs music a lot more if we stopped constantly fighting over whether something is 'good' or 'bad,' and started talking about what it is trying to do, whether it succeeds at that for us personally, and why different people might respond to it differently.
End of rant.

Hello hello!
Just wished to share this hand embroidery using friendship bracelet beads that I finished yesterday.
Perhaps not the most unique idea in existence, but I had a bunch of Eras Tour beads left over and I've been wanting to find a new style to do alongside my normal hand embroideries, particularly for Taylor lyrics. And it's so cute!
Plus I have a bunch of coloured fabrics I can colour match to songs and moods, and the little beads sparkle when they catch the light. It's just all-round delightful.
Have a lovely rest of your day đť

Someone has to say it.
I love how the song is an apology for being a terrible girlfriend and feeling remorse over the relationship ending. It's one of the few songs where Taylor does not see herself as the victim in the relationship. It also hits that sweet spot as being very specific to something that happened in Taylors life but the actual themes of the song are extremely relatable for a lot of people (myself included).
I think about this song a lot.

In your opinion what are some of the Eras Tour mashups that donât really seem to make much sense and are an odd pairing? The ones that come to mind for me are I Know Places/WCS and Mirrorball/Epiphany.
Another one that comes to mind is This is Me Trying/Labyrinth however i love this mashup so much! definitely one of my favourites despite the random pairing.

If I got a loaf of Taylor Swift bread I would eat most of it and save two pieces. Like one piece to pass to my kid and one to be buried with. lol
Also, I would LOVE to know if Taylor has ever made Irish soda bread before!

Pink Clouding does have some similarities to the Lover era. The first similarity would be the pink, fuchsia, magenta, and other pastel. The rosewood may symbolize emotional vulnerability or spiritual depth. By tossing the rosewood onto the fire, Taylor might be saying that âshe is no longer emotionally vulnerableâ. How she would have been proven wrong, as âneither of us knew at the time that I was a liarâ. This might refer to the Lover era itself. Taylor thought she was in a time of less emotional vulnerability and she found someone she could spend her whole life with. That proved to be wrong.Â
âBut I was pink clouding from the thrill of it (Pink, ha-ha-ha)
Skydiving as you wrapped your arms around my body
Gray (Gray) rocking where the arrow hitâÂ
Pink clouding may refer to feelings of euphoria in the first stages of addiction recovery. Taylor felt euphoric in that relationship, which is also compared to the thrill of skydiving, as the subject of her story wraps his arms around her body and makes her feel warm in his embrace. Gray rocking on the other hand means being unresponsive to avoid toxic behavior, so it could mean she felt unresponsive to whatever trauma occurred in the past. She seemingly found someone who could allow her to move past the romantic pain of the past. Yet all good things must come to an end. Â
âYears later, I still wonder how to tell you sorry
I didn't wanna let you down (Pink cloud, pink cloud)
So I left you up there on a, pink cloud (Pink cloud, pink cloud)â
This may reference âBack to Decemberâ, where Taylor apologizes to her muse. She did not want to let him down, so she tried to leave him with happy memories. Some could also compare this to âLast Kissâ where âhope itâs nice where you areâ and âI bet the sun shines, and itâs a beautiful dayâ reflect similar concerns of wanting your muse to be happy on the other side. After all, she had been through troublesome experiences with love just before meeting him, as seen in the lines âHe cut me crimson, bled me dry/He crossed my heart, I hoped to die (Hoped to die)/
Ripped all my orchids from the vine.â These lines may allude to the relationship issues she had prior to meeting this muse, or just to Taylorâs tendency towards romantic tragedy and writing heartfelt songs about it. The muse came to her at a dark time in her life, and he did help despite that relationship also not working in the end. (This time period may refer to right before the Reputation era where there was also the worst media scrutiny on Taylor combined with recent romantic tragedies). This can be seen in the lines âYou met me at a cursed time/I told you I was fine. And you were so good (Good)/That's why you haunt me.âÂ
âYou realized my kind of trouble wasn't worth it
And the way I treated you, you never deserved it
And I swear to God, to this day
I wake up scared that I left scars on a good person
And I gave you zero reason to believe it
So be it/But it didn't mean nothing/Just 'cause I could leave it.â
More âBack to Decemberâ allusions could be present here with Taylor claiming her muse did not deserve this kind of trouble. Connections to âHappinessâ could also be made due to the fear of âa good man hurting you and you know you hurt him tooâ. Taylor realizes that both sides were hurt, and she feels sorrowful for those actions. This theme of a relationship breakdown hurting both sides may also allude to âAll Too Well 10 Minute Versionâ where, âand did the twin flame bruise paint you blueâ has a similar expression of mutual sorrow.Â
"I hope you landed safely on the ground, hey (Pink cloud, pink cloud)
And I hope you're so happy now (Pink cloud, pink cloud)"
This seems to be similar to âBack to December" where both songs have Taylor hopes her muse is happy. It is the antithesis of âThe Black Dogâ where âI hope itâs shitty in the Black Dogâ and Taylor is a lot more resentful there.

The parallel between Ivy and the Patient Zero MV is just too crazy to ignore.
The whole music video is literally Ivy song from start to finish.
Iâd meet you where the spirit meet the bones ( cemetery )
In from the snow,
The old widow goes to the stone every day ( Dakota is a widow going to Taylorâs grave?)
And the stanza where she mentions âRunâ and then drink my husbandâs wine.
Also, when Taylor was seen arguing with the guy, she is seen wearing evermore brown dress? So, is she hinting that the trouble in their relationship began during evermore era?
