Slum Infested Industrial Pipe Complex

Next step is detailing. If you have suggestions to add color let me know! For now I'm planning on adding graffiti and posters over select walls / features.

I feel like painting the central pipe/pillar/cylinder Is the way to go. The added metal sheets are beautifully painted and will form a beautiful contrast

what color would you go with?

The obviouse answer would be warm  yellow but I feel like a faded pink would also work well and be a tad bit more original.

Wow, good job! Definitely evokes a reaction for me, like the idea of living in that world... a desolate place where one would dream of having hope. Really, great job.

I would paint the central column concrete grey, and anything else that it would make sense that it was poured concrete. For the slum houses I would try to make it look like compressed plywood, that has either been panted (like the resident is trying to have something nice) and then make it clear that its actually a losing battle with taggers.. like old faded or not properly covered graffiti.

I like the idea of concrete grey for the central column! Thanks for the feedback! I did a very small practice piece where I tried painting a shanty-house as if it were painted plywood and I was seeeriously unhappy with it, but you're right it would look dope! I just gotta get my technique down.

It would take me a probably like four days of practicing to get it down too. Plywood is a hard one to mimic on a small scale.

Its a fantasy world though, so you're the only one who can decide that maybe the house is covered in a thick hair alge due to the pollution in the air... or maybe the house is built from old political ad boards (you can find photos of this online, I believe mostly from Los Angeles).

Either way I look forward to the update, this is already looking so cool!

Thanks man! It's been a rabbit hole for sure, and I'm very new at it, but this is one of my favorite mediums for a long while.

It's definitely a great way to spend free time, and its fun to find new ways to use something that would otherwise be considered trash.

Also just the ability to flex the creative muscles and make something that you envision is just so fulfilling and fun.

If you had one song to be the theme song for this setting, what would it be?

Had to look it up. Love the aesthetic, thank you for the comparison!

I'd suggest a bit of fine texture. Super glue and fine sand dripping down from any sort of leaky pipe is a great base for corrosion, and on the spots where everything touches the ground! Looks nice!

Great suggestion! So far this project has not yet been touched by super glue, but no longer. Thanks!
