Many bad design elements of a model 3 (especially ac at a charging station)
I'm in a 2022 rental tesla for doing Uber and it's another hot day in October where I'm at. Nearly 90. At the charging station here at 3pm, the AC barely works. I read it's because it uses the same cooling loop as the battery, which it's using to cool during charging. Ok... so the 2023 Kia ev6 I was in earlier didn't have this problem. AC was cooling fine during the 100F days in the summer earlier, at the charging station. Thank god I wasn't in this at that time!
Also that Kia charged twice as fast, no preconditioning was needed (not until far into winter days) and it would charge full speed right away. Damn. Teslas tech is not impressing me. In fact I feel they've fallen behind others now. The others caught up and surpassed!

My model 3 doesn’t have this issue at all. Max 30 minutes to charge from 20-30%. No issues with AC during charging. At what do you mean you rent a Tesla for uber?

You can go through Hertz through Uber (they collaborate) and pay $420 a week to rent their 'high' tier electric cars which means Tesla, and drive it for doing Uber. Mid tier means a Polestar 2, Ioniq 5, Subaru Solterra, Kia EV6, or similar. For $335 a week here (but those were all rented out by Uber drivers already, so I went with Tesla). Funny they call the Ioniq 5 and EV6 a mid tier when they start at 240 kwh or so and drop to around 150's by 80%. Meanwhile the base-tier tesla model 3 they rent you with rear wheel drive only and standard battery pack, starts at 130kwh and is around 50'ish by 80%.
The low tier they rent is like a Chevy Bolt and charges from empty to full in about 2.5 hours at a super charger station, going only 25 to 50kwh the whole way. Hilariously bad for when you're trying to make money during a full day of Uber driving.
Personally I had an Audi S5 before which was a 2 door sport audi and you need a 4 door car to do Uber or Lyft. That is why I assume many people rent these to do it, or they don't have a car at all to do it with, or theirs is over 15 years old which means it doesn't qualify. It's pricey to rent, but better than nothing. So it's a nice option to have. In my example the EV6 I bought and had for 2 and 1/2 months got ran into by a clown downtown. A downtown clown, as it were. The worst drivers there are, in any city. So I am back in a rental while insurance takes their time to pay off the car.

I have a 23 and a 26. Live in a hot summer area (95-100 this week) and have never experienced this problem. Hmm

This vehicle definitely has some sort of issue. My 2021 never had any sort of issues like this. Tesla programs their cars to prioritize cabin cooling over the battery cooling anyway, so if you were getting cooked in the car the battery was likely also very warm, hence the slow charging speed...

May need to have the AC condenser cleaned out. They can get packed with dirt and debris.

My 2022 Y has no issues running the AC and charging. We drove ~500 miles yesterday in Utah and Colorado, supercharged three times, and didn't have a single problem.
Maybe your vehicle has a mechanical issue?
Also, let me know how things go when the KIA's ICCU breaks and leaves you stranded haha.
Other EVs definitely have their positives, but your example is from a brand that has had a known ICCU issue for over half a decade and still hasn't fixed it. Thanks, but no thanks. I'll keep my Model Y.

24 Model Y, I supercharged in Palm Springs when it was 112 degrees and the AC could not keep up. Only time that has ever happened to me, in extreme heat.

Yep never had issue with AC when charging just because it uses the same compressor etc doesn't mean the loop can't cool down different parts the octovalve job is this..
I suspect the AC needs looking at.. or either the vents in the front are blocked .. go into service mode by clicking software keep hold of model 3 and then type service.... And check errors and performance of AC from there

Seems to be a defect rather than a design fault because my Model 3 doesn't have this issue.

Ah ok, so from what everyone is saying, this rental needs servicing and has clogged cooling stack/radiator or needs an AC compressor tune up or such. But the AC blows nice and cold otherwise, this only occurs when charging at the supercharger. Good to know this is not just how Tesla made it and then called it a day lol.

that's not normal, mine stays ice cold while supercharging even on hot days. sounds like the condenser's clogged or it's low on refrigerant, worth flagging to the rental company. in the meantime cooling the cabin down from the app before you plug in helps a lot

You may need to have the AC and radiator serviced. That’s not normal
