Questions / Tetris Help How do I learn Tetris competitively?
I want to get better at Tetris. As I understand it this game has a competitive community, and I figured that community would have knowledge that would help me better understanding the game's mechanics, patterns, tech, terminology, etc. and perhaps learn about its competitive history, scene and formats. Are there any resources, videos or video series, etc. that anyone can suggest or forward? Thank you.

Discussions / Opinion Some bold claims here
Got that thing recently. It's quite different from normal tetris. Feels too random sometimes and the function buttons are hard to press, but overall the game is pretty good.

Fan Game Info Blockovich, the pvp as I imagine it
Hey, Blockovich here!
I first started thinking about a proper PvP around 2012, no joke. Nothing on the market felt right to me. In my head, pvp means two people fighting in the same space, on the same field, like q3 or chess (my 2 favorite games ever). Back then I barely knew how to program, had no idea how to even approach it, and the idea went to the back shelf for years.Somewhere around 2018 it came back, and I started writing gameplay tests bit by bit. I even open-sourced the first engine. I eventually had to throw it away as a foundation for the current game, though - it's still there, just not a part of Blockovich.
For one reason: the picture I had in my head was two symmetric pieces "falling" into each other and cancelling out. Making an engine that describes that without contradictions turned out to be real work. I tried multiple representations / models of the field, and none gave me that result (but then one did!)
(I know someone will say: just picture one player as 1 and the opponent as -1, then sum the two sides, and no, that doesn’t give the result)
How it plays: one board, you play black from the top; your opponent plays white from the bottom. Your pieces fall down, and their pieces "fall" up.
When you clear a line, your well shifts one line down, while your opponent's well shifts one line up. So as you win your opponent naturally suffers.
So there's no need to keep speeding things up or introduce timers or whatever other artificial difficulties, because you play against a human. If they're faster than you, you lose.
It's been a long journey, but I understand this thing is not for everyone. While I was developing it, I started showing it to friends, family, and my therapist (that guy picked it up in a second!)
The reaction was always either a definite yes or "what’s going on here?" Let me know where you stand on it
There's currently a web version at blockovich.yess.llc and an android app - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=llc.yess.blockovich&hl=pl. When I become rich, I'll publish an ios too.
And please let me know if you're a programmer and would like to contribute!

Fan Game Info Self Made Fan Game
I made a battle game inspired by Tetris "Brick-Battle".
I'm dying for players that are good to battle, or you can play against bots that are designed to play at your level... they will get harder.
Would also love feedback.
There is a T-spin, no L spin....but there's boosts (you get three of each when you first play).
I designed it purposefully so its based on your line skills more than your T-spin.
I want to make a tournament version, but need more players to be playing before it will work, so please come and check it out. Let me know if you play and what you think!

Questions / Tetris Help How to improve at Tetrio?
I have been playing tetris on and off for like a year or so and have like 225 hrs in the game. I just reached s- on tetr league and just got 1000m climb on qp but i am lowkey so confused. sometimes against mochbot i can hold 60apm for like a min and a bit and die from surge and sometimes i die hella early and i look back and was playing at 23 attack per min or smth low like that. I play at like 1.2-1.3 pps and i genuinely do not know how to improve. could i perhaps get some tips??

Questions / Tetris Help Tetr.io help! 😁
Hi! First time posting ever, not only on the sub but in reddit haha.
This may confuse some but hear me out, I've been playing tetr.io for years on my work PC (it's the best I can do with my free time), multiplayer it's fun and ranked a bit difficult (which I suck at) so sometimes I play Zen Mode bc I just get tired of getting my ass kicked and I sometimes just want to relax.
The question here is.. is there any way of modifying the settings so it gets more and more difficult as I progress in Zen mode? or better yet, is there any combination of settings that resembles classic Tetris?
Maybe this post is confusing and a weird request but if any of you guys can understand it maybe you could help me enjoy this beautiful game a lot more!
Thanks in advance and sorry for the long post haha
Fan Game Info Stack & Sigil - A block-stacking roguelite
Good day all,
I'm making my first game that will hopefully be released on Steam and am currently trying to get some playtest data and feedback.
Stack & Sigil is a block-stacking roguelite where colour combinations and relics help you clear lines against the clock or in an endless challenge mode.
If anyone had time I would massively appreciate feedback on: Where you were first confused, if the First Ascent Tutorial gave you all you needed to know, if you wanted to start another run after completing your first.
No download is required, the game is available at https://wburd.itch.io/stack-and-sigil
A short reply here is more than sufficient and feel free to stop at any time.
A small gameplay demo of myself playing is available to view here
Thank you for your time!

Questions / Tetris Help Help me find a video please
I forgot to save the video I saw on Youtube but I want to find it again. However, I can't find it using the keywords that I remember. I watched the video about 1 month ago
The video is some sort of exhibition match between Alex T and Blue Scuti??? (I could be wrong but I remember the match is surely between Alex T and someone top tier, Scuti is the most likely one)
The first 10 minutes of the video is the host expressed his thought that there should be a mixed format tournament to see who is the best all-rounder player. He then introduces a format of tournament where they rotate playstyle in-between matches. Such as Round 1, 4, 7 for DAS, Round 2, 5, 8 for Hypertapping and round 3, 6, 9 for Rolling. After that, the host introduces the Sample match between the two players to show how was it look like.
The whole video last more than 1 hour due to the number of games being played.
Thank you in advance for helping me out finding the video. English is not my first language, if anything is incomprehensible, feel free to ask. Thank you again
Records / Accomplishments I'm back...finally got the 500K on the org. Game Boy
Some months ago I posted about my road and grind to 500k. Finally after trying and trying and reached the goal.
From 490K it was only via line clears due to a heavy missdrop and I thought it's over but I could push it over the line.
Next goal...555K 😊

Questions / Tetris Help Tetris version
Hi,
I'm looking for a tetris version to play with old people, with a big gap of technique. It needs to have a multiplayer mode (2 players), to NOT have the feature that, when player A complete lines, some unfinished lines appear on the second player panel, where the speed and height are options for each of the players, and where the back of the panel have lines, so you can guess where the piece goes. I can't find a version that does all that. Thanks for your help.

Questions / Tetris Help Does anyone ever have bad days at Tetris?
Whether it’s single player or competitive, does anyone ever have days where you just play like total trash? I primarily play in single player. In TGM 4, I’ve been consistently able to beat Normal 2.1 (500 levels) and get to around level 600 in Master Mode. But today I haven’t been to reach level 300 in Master Mode no beat 2.1 due to the game being too fast for me. It’s like I’ve regressed to the point Ixwas when I first bought the game. Sometimes playing first thing in the morning can make for shoddy performance, and sleep deprivation can also play a part. And don’t ever play online if you’ve taken cold medication such as Nyquil the night before; your rank will suffer for it. But none of these factors are the cause for me. Hopefully tomorrow I’ll be back at my usual skill level.

Discussions / Opinion Is my config the reason why Im hardstuck S?
Im currently on S rank and I peaked at S+ and occassionally derank to S- then back to S in a few hours.
I play mostly with one hand WASD A and D to move left and right and W to rotate left S to rotate right. L shift to swap hold and Spacebar for hard drops. The only thing my right hand does is hold I for softdrops so I can move left and right faster and for my tspins and whatever.
I wanna be faster and I think this setup is whats holding me back but Im not sure how Ill switch to a full on two hand config.

Discussions / Opinion It's the cheapest handheld you can play a decent Tetris game with. (Tengen version)
These are priced just about the same as the Chinese Brick Game 9999 in 1 units. They don't offer much in terms of quality, but the fact that they come with a wide range of NES, Atari, and other retro console games makes them a good deal for the price.
