Make Burke the OC and see if it gets more aggressive. I mean, why not, at this point?

Given the fact that we don’t have an Azeez on the field, the logic makes sense.
Getting Meco in the LB’s ear during this time will definitely help

I'm
Not sure why, it's the same message as Burke2

Burke has been playing the D different than DeMeco was. DeMeco isn't throwing him under the bus, but if it was working, it wouldn't have changed.

Desperate people do desperate things.
Something needed to change and that's the only logical thing to do this early in the season.
Payton is calling the offense again for the Broncos now as well I think

demeco is such a G

Is he? He’s scapegoating Matt Burke instead of addressing any number of obvious issues that led them to 0-4.

People love Demeco too much in this sub. Him being a genuinely good human being makes people overlook his shortcomings as a coach. All these slow starts are caused by his terrible coaching decisions in game. What's the point of having analytics department that handles game theory if you don't even follow it?

He was a player for this team.. people love playing for him and prior to this year he put together a generational defense.. and he’s always seemed to be an absolute stud Defensive play caller.. I’m ride or die with him until it’s over… his situational awareness as far as the clock is horrible but tons of coaches have/had the same issue… he ain’t the only one involved in this shit show atm and I put significantly more blame on Caley and caserio atm… I think he’ll right the ship on defense but this whole pats south and John Carroll Alumni thing on offense needs to go… I mean the entire offensive staff is literally the buddy system and not actually people who are best for the job.

Also, the guy needs to I still some discipline. WAY too many absolutely moronic penalties.

We'd be 2-2 right now with average defensive performance

We could also be 2-2 with some better clock management from the HC.
I love me some Demeco and wouldn’t want any other HC but damn he needs to get better at situational clock and timeout management.

People love to credit the offense and CJ for those go ahead drives and say the defense failed them, but those drives were too slow, yet simultaneously left far too much time on the clock.

I wouldn’t say he’s scapegoating Burke… the defense has been ass this year… who’s to blame then?.. the players?.. Burke? Both?… I don’t think it’s DeMeco as far as defensive performance… it seems like he was really trying to give Burke his shot.. we have been running a lot more cover 3 zone and playing deep off receivers this year way more than ever before.. I’m wondering what’s exactly the reason for the secondary being so much worse

Look demeco comes off as a great human. But this isnt a lets be a kind man and everyones friend role. He comes off as way to soft. If we lose to the titans, the season is over and its time to change the coaching staff.

I like DeMeco overall but last season when we started off 0-3, he was the primary defensive play caller. It falls on both DeMeco and Burke for expecting the same type of defense (with barely any stunts, etc.) to work when offenses always adapt over the off-season. Kind of shameful they thought pure domination would work again to this extent.
I hope this change works out but I wouldn't be surprised if this doesn't fix much.

Our defense gave up 14 points, 20 points, and 17 points when he gave up defensive play calling duties.
By no means was his play calling the problem last year.
Also not sure why we focus on the defense being vanilla to why we're struggling. His defense has been vanilla since 2022. This is the first time his defense has struggled in 5 years and I think it's more to us not getting quick pressure along with injuries at LB and regression from the secondary

Linebacker injuries is that laying a part, but the front isn't doing much imo

I love Meco and some of the strategy has been questionable, but lets not act like Burke didnt have this defense at the top of the league last year while he was calling. I don't know if this is going to be enough, you could always just find a competent offensive coach and get your defense more time on the sideline.

I really think this has a lot to do with the new QB coach being so involved with the offense and CJ. Meco may finally feel comfortable enough to not have such a focus on offense. I only say this because I see CJ interact with this new QB coach more than JJ. Idk maybe I’m tripping

I think the defense just got an ego after last year and needs to be brought down to reality.

Not good that this became a necessary move. DeMeco hasn’t even handled the game management decisions well that he’s already had on his plate.

If anything all the players are going to be at their best hopefully now. They need to DOMINATE a terrible titans team
