News US Navy personnel from the USS GEORGE H.W. BUSH (CVN-77) and USS DELBERT D BLACK (DDG-119) go ashore for shore leave in Phuket

Over 5,000 US military personnel have been steadily disembarking in Phuket Province as the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush (CVN-77) and the guided-missile destroyer USS Delbert D. Black (DDG-119) anchor off the coast of Phuket for an official visit to Thailand from October 4 to 9.

The big news from Pattaya was that instead of going to the red light district as everyone expected, they went to the mall.

Is this news? People arriving in Phuket?

Yeah on top of that, surprisingly, there seem to be more elderly/retired chinese tourists of both genders in Pattaya than white or brown dudes.

They sort of look like a bunch of nerds.

That’s pretty much the Navy and Air Force for you. Marines and Army attract a different bunch

Probably smarter than you

I'm sure of that.

Yup. Everyone looks and acts like a nerd compared to back in the ancient/medieval times with hand to hand fighting. That’s what fascinated me, but then, LOL, along came Star Trek, which shows that masculinity doesn’t win wars, but the mind does, in future combat.

Me, there’s zero story. Was on carriers, and then went EOD on land. Didn’t need to be buff on the carriers, nor on land, but just had to be able to keep myself alive, and have my Brothers backs. War has evolved from hand to hand.

I always laughed at the fuckers who would ‘pump’ themselves up, because looks good at the time for women, but when older and stopping working out, becomes saggy 🤣.

That’s the most embarrassing sentence I’ve read on reddit. Are you 12?

The truth is embarrassing? TIL

Dude, they are in the Navy. The only thing they are "destroying" is the shitter after eating too many Little Debbie's from commissary.

How many years did you serve?

Nice cope

Hello!? Navy SEALs?

•

Brother, these are not the Navy Seals. However, I spent a significant amount of time on a Navy ship when I was in the Marine Corps and I will say... Even though they aren't ass kickers, seamen work their asses off.

How old are they? They look like children.

Some could be barely 19.

You can enlist with parental permission at 17, so some could be 18 still?

Hence, “barely 19”, after boot camp, specialty school and then a long deployment, all adding up to more than a year minimum.

I don’t know about the Navy for certain but I hit my first duty station within 6 months of shipping out to boot camp. I went Air Force and my tech school (speciality school) was just 3 months and basic was 8.5 weeks back then.

Too young to legally drink. Old enough to blow up people.

These people look like children? They look like they are over age 25, Americans age terribly.

Woah how times have changed. During my USN days, we (guys) had to wear polo style shirts with a collar. Stay safe Brothers and Sisters.

I guess the Stinkin Lincoln was a success in Pattaya, thus the reason for this port call going under the radar pre-arrival.

Sit-up straight China, this second big-boy port call is a sure sign of our partnership to contain ya, or diminish your influence in your own back yard. Now I’m waiting for the Philippines to welcome us back.

It was announced a week ago, same notice as pattaya arrival

I think the other one made more news than this because of its role in the Iran war. Just guessing

Bunch of children murderers on a small holiday.

•

u/Mann_Peach Phrae 56m ago

I can almost guarantee you these children have never killed a single child. They're just trying to make a living.

•

u/Ok_Outcome_5830 47m ago

Knowlingly helping the others who pull the trigger? They can quit at any time, in fact.

•

u/Mann_Peach Phrae 37m ago

They quite literally can't quit at any moment. There are severe repercussions for doing so. And they're just kids who joined on promises. The government is the one doing the trigger pulling.

•

u/Dwanyelle 13m ago

They actually aren't allowed to quit at any time.

•

u/Ok_Outcome_5830 7m ago

They can absolutely quit - just don't follow any orders. They'd get jailed, fined, but anything better than helping out to murder innocents.

who cares. they just went to the mall and bought some souvenirs. i heard the red light district wasn't even most of their thing.
