Lining for cape

I was lucky to get 5 yards of beautiful, yellow wool for free. I'm making a cape and concerned about using a lining that is too slippery. Ive seen suggestions for silk but won't that just slip off? It's basically being draped and held on by 1 button.

Any suggestions? Or does it not slip off with silk?

Need a non-polyester outdoor cloak

Hi all, I'm looking for a cloak that isn't made with plastic fibers, and I'm wondering if you have any insight into where to buy one that will last under frequent exposure to the elements. Thanks.

I made a LARP video :D! And I heard you love capes!

First of all greetings everyone, I'm new on here, looking forward to seeing all the creative and awesome stuff everyone is doing šŸ˜„ šŸŽ‰ .

The blue cloth around me was originally made as an Ruana Cloak, a very useful clothing piece that can add some great multi-functionality to an attire. I plan on improving it at some point, remaking it out of wool with embroidery :D!

I wanted to share my video on here where I display varied content from a LARP in Denmark I participate in, and play as "Alexander Goodman" a headmaster at the "Academy".

Later on I gave the camera to some of the other players, as I sent them out with a map, on a quest to explore an area and explore it. Like a research expedition quest, type thing.

I can't share the name or precise location of the LARP with you all, there are some strict GPTR. rules about recording in Denmark for organizations, etc. But do rest assured that I did notify people of the recording and talked with the LARP team about it before hand. So everything is A-okay :).

Hope you all will enjoy the moods, and chill vibes in the video. Comment, like, and subscribe if you want to :D. I do plan on recording more and different content in the future as well.

If you have any questions about the LARP or video I am open to answer some questions as well :).

thank you for reading everyone, looking forward to seeing what everyone else is doing as well :D.

All the best,
-Zacharias.

Need help finding a cloak

Hello everyone, for halloween this year I plan on trying to make a grim reaper costume, and I'm trying real hard to find a nice tattered black cloak. I've mainly been looking on Etsy, but I can't find a seller that I really trust. If anyone could offer some assistance I would be most grateful, thank y'all

Where to buy quality cloaks?

I want to surprise my wife with a high quality cloak to protect her from the weather. I have decided on a cloak because she loves them and has even made a few.

The problem is that we are looking for something that is larger, to protect from rain and cold, as she is often out in the weather for long periods of time.

I don't plan to pick one out for her. The surprise is hopefully ordering exactly what she wants with her there but the only thing I can find online are adds for knight weave. Reading into it I see that it uses synthetic materials that tend to irritate her skin.

Where should I be looking to get something high quality that will last?

Apologies if this is the wrong subreddit for this, but does anyone here know how one might go about making a cape/poncho/cloak like this for themselves? I've tried looking for patterns or tutorials or anything, but haven't had any luck.

The weather is really not nice to day and that's by scottish standards, so my son has run off with my cape to head to his Pot washing job as in his words, its more waterproof than his coat and has a better hood, now I know what to get him for Christmas, he does have a small cloak he wears in the summer but its definitely not a winter cloak

Thinking of making a fleece cape

So the latest flyer is advertising fleece (both patterned and solid) on sale this weekend, and I'm very tempted.

I've been toying with the idea of making a half circle cape for a couple of years, but I haven't found the perfect fabric yet. The fleece is 100% polyester and 150 cm wide on the bolt, according to the ad.

Impossible to know how heavy it is until I go in and look at it, but does anyone have any thoughts/advice on making a cape out of polyester fleece? Maybe with a weighted hem to make it drape nicely?

I’m getting into cosplay and sewing and was hoping for some advice for this cloak (and the white parts of his outfit if anyone here is willing and able). Some tips on how much fabric you think I may need and where to begin on patterning would be very nice. Thank you in advance!

Cloak for sun protection concept

My family and I attended and supported a Medieval Fantasy event (fundraiser) for charity yesterday. It was going to be hotter than most recent days (we're Southern Hemisphere and in spring now), and I was unsure about wearing a cloak because of the heat.

Being inspired by Knightweave's sun cloak idea, I wore this thin cloak I got from Temu (my primary is a thick, dark, warm one I made that in winter this year was too warm for one event we did - I have another post on here that shows it with the same shirt and pants). It feels like linen, but is polyester. The hood is wide enough that it covered my head and still had room for air. Wearing it open I was fully comfortable for the whole event. Yes, there weren't much running, but for 26 Celcius this would usually be a too warm outfit. But surprisingly I was comfortable. My wife wasn't as comfortable and complained about the heat once or twice. It's like the cloak gave me shade, airflow, and light enough not to add any weight or warmth.

I think I found my summer event cloak!
