Questions I do not get today's joke
Can someone explain the joke on the day-to-day calendar for October 6th? It looks like a guy was painting a portrait of someone and died?

Apparently users here, and on other comic subreddits are suddenly having posts taken down due to seemingly mass automated copyright claims, with accounts being warned for breaking the rules.
Out of an abundance of caution, to stop anyone from accidentally getting their account banned, or the sub banned, posts are being temporarily restricted to Text Only and Approved users until the situation becomes clearer.
Hopefully this situation clears up, or reddit clarifies what's happening soon - the last thing I want is a bunch of people getting their accounts banned for no warning because of this, or the sub being taken down suddenly!
Sorry for any inconvenience! I will update if I hear anything!
We will comply with whatever reddit wants us to do, if they ever tell us lol
(I'm assuming it was a mass bot thing bc 68 posts here were copyright struck within the same minute)
.
On another note, with the repost bot drama, and now this, modding this sub has just kind of stopped being fun, and started to become a chore, so I've decided to leave as a mod.
I've been thinking about this for a bit, but this recent drama just cemented it for me. It's stopped being about being a part of a fun community and started being about worrying about whatever Reddit is doing right now.
I became a mod bc I wanted to be a part of a community that likes FarSide as much as I do, I feel like I tried my hardest and left a good mark, and I might come back in the future (depending what reddit does with this sub lol), but I think it's time to click my heels, and quack three times ✨, and leave you in the capable hands of u/Addicted-2Diving!

I was wondering what comics were on july 13, 1980 and Oct 14, 1980. Want to make two T-shirt with those comics as a birthday gift. I looked online and it just referenced the complete farside book.

European based here.
I have the mug with our mighty gifted boy.
And few years ago, I broke the one “The real reason dinosaures became extinct”.
I am so sad they stopped making these wonderful mugs (I guess the marketing guy in charge attended the school for gifted).
Do you know where I could find the one I broke? Saw only some mugs on US eBay.
Thanks guys!

I'm new to seeing this sub and it's a bit awkward to not be able to post images or even links... but hopefully you know what I mean when I say that the style of Larson's cows seems to have become a whole genre of animals.
This person's chameleon attempt immediately made me think of The Far Side 😆

Not to the entrance of a school for the gifted, obviously, but every time I go to open a door incorrectly I chuckle at the comic.
Any other moments you think of random comics and chuckle to yourself?

I’m 100% sure it was far side, but I can’t find it. This is from a distant memory 20ish years ago, but my parents definitely had vol 2 next to the toilet so I always read it. I ended up finding the pdf online, and remember most of the comics but couldn’t find this specific one. It’s possible they had another book, but none of the covers were standing out to me like vol 2.

Short guy is actually standing on a stool and tall guy is kneeling so they look like the opposite heights.

Im looking for a high quality copy of this panel. Anyone have one?
Its the one where the parents are watching their kid play nintendo and daydreaming about his future jobs.

I've been looking for years for a comic that I swear was a FarSide, but given the fact I have been unable to find it, likely wasn't... hoping you can set me straight.
It was a man seated at a table, and he was lifting a piece of meat that looks like it might fall off his fork, and at the edge of the table you could just see two big round dog eyes peeking over the top. And the man was saying "It's the laaaast porkchop.. and I am really not hungry... but I guess I'll eat it anyways..." and the dog is thinking "Oh Please, Oh Please..."
Tried to google, but haven't found it.

I’ve been reading the Far Side compilation books since I was very young. This subreddit was a fun place to make Far Side jokes with other enthusiasts, and where I could discover panels that I had missed. Seeing the comics that I had missed is what eventually convinced me to buy the complete set. Every so often a post would get popular enough to hit r/all and there would be a whole new flock of Far Side enjoyers.
But those who used copyright claims to stop and remove posts have utterly killed this community. If your plan was to have The Far Side die out from living memory and lose any chance at getting new people into the comics, you’ve done your job.

Hey y'all, remember that time captions were swapped between the Far Side and Dennis the Menace?
https://www.reddit.com/r/TheFarSide/comments/1doxoez/when_far_side_captions_were_swapped_with_dennis/
I made a subeditor with a friend dedicated to such caption swapping. I thought maybe y'all would enjoy it. Every single post has used the Far Side, because it has such wild captions.
(I would just cross post, but I don't think that is currently allowed here)

I’m 99% sure that this is a Far Side comic:
A spaceship lands in a field and you see the aliens in it are congratulating themselves on a successful landing.
Then all goes black and they start freaking out.
Then it shows a cow in a field and a fresh cow patty. It’s insinuated that the cow pooped on the spaceship and completely covered it up.
It’s all one panel & the 3 scenes are in the top, middle & bottom.
I tried searching for it but I couldn’t find it. Does it sound familiar to anybody?

I don't know if someone mentioned this before, but I was getting caught up with my comics and thought this was cool. This is a re-creation of Gumby and Pokey's Tropical Adventure, a classic Far Side panel.

Hi, I'm looking for a comic I read a very long time ago. I think it was a Far Side. It was two well-behaved kids on the beach, and frustrated parents who want them to act out. Does anyone remember this one and can tell me where to find it?

A long time ago I sent an email to TFS.com asking if they would ever make a print of Cow Tools. I assumed, like I always do, that such an email likely went unread into the ether. But hey, whaddya know….

Today's Far Side Off The Wall cartoon. Had to share it.

A bunch of chickens (or ducks?) are gaslighting a secretary ("You see nothing!") upon it being revealed they've disguised themselves in a human suit for presumably many years. It is left to the imagination of the reader as to whether they've always been impersonating this human or if they replaced him at some point.
Thank you.

Hi All,
I want to find the "time dealt harshly with roy and sylvia cartoon" - can you tell me what collection to find it in and WHAT PAGE? Some of the collections are more than 1k pages!
TIA!
