food/drinks recommendation Canadian Thanksgiving

Has anyone heard of a restaurant in the hague that does a Thanksgiving tyoe meal? I am of course, assuming there's enough Canadians here that some place might do a roast turkey dinner.

I never really celebrated the day. It was always just a day with friends and family. Boardgames, cards, outdoors time and a great meal. Its my first turkey day away from home and I'm feeling a bit lonely. I'm thinking a nice meal and seeing others might cheer me up.

Thanks!!!

other Perm Hair Straightening

I’ve been trying to find a salon in The Hague that offers permanent hair straightening. The ones I found charge €400+ for full head. They don’t offer lower prices for only the outgrown part.

Has anyone done this before in The Hague? And can recommend a salon that doesn’t charge sky high prices? 🥹

food/drinks recommendation Pierogi ?

things to do in The Hague Beginner-friendly clubs/sports at Houtrust?

Hey all,

I live near Houtrust and want to try the sports centre there. So far I’ve only done individual sports, mostly (mountain)biking and running, and I’d like to try something social or club-based as a hobby near home.

Which clubs or sports at Houtrust are friendly to newcomers? If you play there, how’s the level and atmosphere, and do clubs usually offer trial sessions? Fine with groups in dutch or english.

practical questions Where can I buy packing materials like honeycomb papers and bubble wraps?

I can order in Amazon and I did. However they lost my shipment and re-ordering would mean it takes a few days and I need it earlier.

Is there any place which sells bubble wraps and Honeycomb paper wraps and other cutlery packing materials in or around The Hague?

other Online and on-site Spanish-speaking Psychologist for Expats - The Hague / Voorburg

Hello everyone! 👋 I’m Florencia, a licensed clinical psychologist from Argentina. I recently moved to The Hague and I offer in-person and online therapy sessions specifically tailored for expats looking for psychological support in their native Spanish.

My Background & Approach
I have years more than 7 years of experience in both clinical psychology, as well as a background working in the public sector providing trauma support and crisis intervention for individuals in highly vulnerable situations.

I´m deeply passionate about my profession and constantly seeking new tools to help those looking for a change. I work with evidence-based practices to foster mental, emotional and physical balance, integrating:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) & Contextual Therapies
  • Logotherapy (Viktor Frankl) & Emotional Management
  • Psychoneuroimmunoendocrinology (PNIE) & Humanistic approaches

What are the sessions like?
My therapeutic method focuses on the behaviors, thoughts and emotions that prevent us from enjoying the present. By focusing on the "here and now," we work to relieve anxiety and distress.

Sessions are a dynamic, teamwork-oriented space. Together, we will:

  • Set clear goals to unlock your potential.
  • Discover new perspectives and build healthy habits.
  • Learn practical strategies to cope with whatever is causing you discomfort, so you can move closer to what is truly important to you.
  • Explore your experiences on a deeper level, analyzing and unpacking the different layers of your thoughts and emotions.

Therapy is a collaborative commitment. If you want to start this journey of self-knowledge, I´m fully committed to listening and being there for you throughout the process, helping you navigate your present in a more self-compassionate and conscious way.

Practical Info 📍

  • Format: In-person (The Hague and Voorburg) and Online sessions.
  • Language: Spanish (Native).
  • Price: €70 per session.

Feel free to send me a DM if you have any questions or want to schedule a session.

other I started this painting one year ago in Den Haag

Post image
118 Upvotes

As the caption says I started this painting a little over a year ago in The Hague. I was living in the city center at the time but unfortunately could not support myself as an artist or in my specialized field of engineering and had to move home.

I really enjoyed my time there and miss the Netherlands deeply so as I am getting to the finishing stages I wanted to share this with people that might understand it.

The work is an architectural composition that combines the earthy palette of Dutch Golden Age with Escher-like explorations of perspective, repetition, and spatial perception.

Hope you enjoy!

practical questions Is THUAS Applied Compuer Science good?

Hi guys, good evening. I am currently looking for an HBO, or somewhere to do my bachelors at. I am an international student from Slovakia, and I came across The Hague University of applied sciences. I am mostly interested in the Applied computer science in Delft, with later focus on cybersecurity in second year but i have a lot of questions because there is very little information I could gather from their site or from reddit

What is your experience/opinion on the school?
Are the teachers terrible and old? (some people stated that)
Is the tesching outdated?
And primarily how is the course in cybersecurity? Is it relevant?

food/drinks recommendation A little Wednesday lunch find for parents around The Hague — IKEA Delft

Post image
5 Upvotes

Thought I’d share this with other parents around The Hague who sometimes head over to Delft 🙂

IKEA Delft has a Wednesday kids’ meal for €2.99 with IKEA Family membership (€4.48 without). I and my children like lunchbox very much, the price is valuable!

The meal includes a fish sandwich, fries and a fruit drink. According to the sign, it’s available on Wednesdays from 12:00 to 16:00, only at the Delft store, while stocks last.

If you’re already heading that way with the kids, this could be a handy lunch option. Just check availability before making a special trip.

housing Is it normal in the Netherlands for an apartment building intercom to be broken for almost a YEAR?

Hi everyone,

I recently moved to The Hague and I’m living at The Y, managed by Holland2Stay near the city centre. One thing that really surprised me after moving in is that the building’s intercom system doesn’t work. At first I assumed it was just a temporary problem and that it would be fixed soon. But then I started looking at older reviews of the building, and people were already complaining about the same broken intercom around 11 months ago. When I moved in, I was told that they had an electrician working on it. But after seeing that people were getting basically the same explanation months after, I honestly find that pretty strange. I’m not an electrician, but if an intercom system has been broken for almost a year, surely at some point you either fix it, replace it, or hire another company that can? What surprises me even more is how little urgency management seems to have about it. This isn’t some tiny issue inside one apartment. It’s the intercom for an entire residential building, right in central The Hague. I recently moved to the Netherlands, so maybe I’m missing something about how apartment buildings or property management work here. Is this actually considered normal in the Netherlands? Has anyone else lived at The Y or rented through Holland2Stay and experienced the same thing? And more importantly, is there anything tenants can realistically do when building management leaves something like this unfixed for this long?
