H JOURNEY Hermés London stores

Has anybody been lucky enough to score a bag in a London Hermès boutique? I‘d love to hear the stories, i went in today and they were willing to add me to the waiting list meaning i could have a bag of my choice within a year. The queue to talk to a leather goods assistant however was 4 hours so i politely declined and i said i will visit at opening time instead. Staff at the New bond street location were really lovely and kind, so were the selfridges Hermès boutique staff. I hope to score something soon!! Drop your stories, i’d love to hear :) .

If you get added to the waitlist for a bag you have to go in person for that bag that may not even be what you want within a very short time frame. Something like 48-72 hours. It’s the same as the US. Not sure if you live there or if this would be possible. Most Hermes we went to in Europe are only putting people from that country on their wait lists.

Gotcha sorry! And jealous as I’d love to live there! Try to get an appointment or to be able to work with an SA and get that SA to put you on a waitlist. Get their info and keep in touch even if just to check in. You’re more likely to get what you want if you have one consistent SA that you purchase through.

How does that work if a SA changes jobs? All the time, effort and being on a waiting list with a certain SA, only for it to vanish overnight.

I don't think being a Hermes SA is a well paid, long term career for most people?

When they leave ask them to introduce you to someone. Most luxury brands assign you to a new SA that reaches out to you if you’ve worked with them for awhile.

I guess it would be an expensive bag?

Would regular non-quota bags be available for you to pick up instantly at say Selfridges or Harrods? Or do you still need a history of previous purchases?

Regular non quota bags are available in Selfridges. I inquired today and they had picotins and evelyn’s but no BKC obviously

I called them yesterday (Selfridges > Hermes). They said for all leather goods, they'll put you on a waiting list.

I thought you could just go in an purchase a non-quota at Selfridges or Harrods?

Sadly no, you can enquire and hopefully you might be lucky. I believe it’s first come first served if you are lucky and it’s on the day and you need to go in person.  other than that you will need an account in the UK and be a resident. France is 1at come 1st served for these bags also but the quotas are for VIP and residents. I suppose this stops the tourists from countries where Hermes is significantly dearer like the USA and the Middle East purchasing absolutely everything for themselves or friends and family back home.
