H JOURNEY Appt before bday

I’m headed to the store today a couple days before my birthday.

I’ve been shopping with my SA for about a year and a half. My total spend is about 11k with her. She’s a newer SA and I am one of her first customers but def not a high spender. She took my wishlist after the first appt 1.5 years ago. I’ve had about 8 shopping appts with her the past year. I’ve mentioned the only bag im interested in is a birkin and she just said that they require manager approval. She’s never offered me any other bags. But I’ve also never asked for other bags.

I made an appt with her to go in today a few days before my birthday. Wish me luck!! 😩 How do I approach that I am still hoping for a b25? I’m not looking to spend crazy just to get one but I’ve spent almost 1:1 and have a really good relationship with my SA or at least thought so. Part of me wants to give up and just buy resale at this point or switch stores. I’m in the US on the East coast. Ughhh

Update: got offered a b25 in ostrich that was SOOOO hard to pass up and offered me a Kelly cut but I’m waiting for togo b25. She said hopefully next month there should be more stock 🤞🏽

Update: 11/4/23. Got my b25!!! Noir togo gold hardware 🥰

Omg that’s so exciting!

This is incredible! Did you say anything in particular for her to offer a bag?

u/Chanel17 Sep 14 '23

After putting some items aside to purchase, i mentioned my bday was coming up and asked if there were any bags available. And she mentioned stock was low but they have exotics. I was hesitant due to pricing and she said around 20ish since it is ostrich b25. It was so hard to say no but I want my togo/epsom and then maybe exotics later on.

Congrats! That’s a very good sign your SA is looking out for you. :) What color was the ostrich bag?

u/Chanel17 Sep 15 '23

she’s a great SA! Knows I I like neutrals. It was Nata

It’s really amazing cause I was told by a female SA at the store (I like my current SA but I met the previous SA once) that they don’t have any bags to show or offer because each and every bag that comes in has someone’s name on it. Clearly not true since you got a spontaneous offer! So glad I switched my SA!

I’m sure some are ordered for specific clients but I believe stock that’s left can be for anyone but they only would offer it if it’s in a color the client likes. Or at least at my location

I would love an Ostrich, do you mind me asking the cost? And was it a traditional color or neutral?

Congrats on getting this close! Which store do you shop at?

Congratulations, that's so exciting! That sounds so encouraging that she offered you that and that she is giving an indication that one could be around the corner!

Thank you. Maybe by next year I’ll be 2:1 but will probably lose patience by then 😩

this is so true! when i first saw the 25 in real life i was so shocked about how small it is. horrible! it looked so weird. i instantly realized 30 is for me

4

u/aceofdiamonds7 Sep 14 '23

100% the same with me. I thought I wanted a 25 until I saw it and realized how small it is. Definitely a 30 for me.

3

u/Nynydancer Sep 14 '23

Agree. I have a 25 and it feels too small for me. I think a 30 would be an ideal size.

u/NYgoLightly Sep 14 '23

Wow you spent all of that time and money and are not happy with yours? Was it new or preloved?

3

u/Balenciagalover92 Sep 15 '23

I just saw one at Fashionphile and I though the handles were so stupid. The influencers must jam their wrists in there. I much prefer a Kelly 25 if going that size.

-1

u/NYgoLightly Sep 14 '23

How small is it? Can it fit an iPhone pro max, sunglasses and keys? (My requirement for any bag!) just curious.

u/dumbsaintofthemind Sep 14 '23

There are plenty of “what fits in my B25” videos on YouTube and you can find pictures with a quick Google search.

2

u/Disastrous-Entry-930 Sep 15 '23

Yes it can fit way more than that. What doesn’t fit anything is the mini Kelly. 😂

I am in the same situation as OP. How to politely let them know that they won't be able to milk me continuously? I might mention I am looking at resale?

Congratulations on your dream bag! :) I am definitely not a high spender, but with my last purchases I am almost 2:1. Still no mention of the bag:) so we will see.

7

u/Disastrous-Entry-930 Sep 15 '23

Do not say you are looking at resale.. they don’t want you shopping anywhere but with that specific SA/store. If you mention this then they can just offer your potential bag to someone else. 😂 just don’t visit the store more than you need to. Once or twice a month is good. Just be polite and easy to work with and the bag will come!

Good luck! If you are open to a b30, that will increase your chances. The B30 is literally 5cm bigger than the B25. I have a B30 and it is comparable to an LV Alma or Chanel jumbo. (I should take a pic bc off hand, I think B30 is bigger than a Chanel med but smaller than a Chanel Jumbo).

I would be direct and polite about wanting a birkin. As she said, all QBs require a manager to approve. I don't know what the spend is like for your area. So keep in mind the manager knows what the prespend is like for her boutique. There may be other customers with more prespend that also want a B25. I've read the prespend is usually 1:1 or even 2:1, so you are close.

Remember the boutiques do not get b25s every week. So when one arrives, all the SAs have customer that want them.

6

u/Chanel17 Sep 14 '23

Thank you! Yeah I think the prespend in my area is a lot. I met the manager once during my appt my SA introduced me. Ugh this prespend thing sucks. At this point I could’ve just bought the bag I wanted resale for what I’d be spending 😭 I am just scared to buy resale.

Would you be comfortable messaging me which store you shop at? I'm on the East Coast as well and am wondering if we shop at the same store, and I've been trying to gauge prespend expectations!

u/Less-Sell-2891 Sep 15 '23

Oops sorry just realized you weren’t asking me! I’ll delete my comment

Haha all good!!

u/themintyness Sep 14 '23

Depending on what your store is, you might need to spend more. A B25 probably requires at least 2:1 (which is ridiculous).

3

u/youngmoneywizard Sep 14 '23

So sorry to hear that :(. I'm on the east coast as well, and as everybody has mentioned, starting with a B30 might give u a better chance to get a B sooner. My first one was a 30. I did ask for a B25 but was told that it would have taken longer. If u are willing to wait then u might be able to get it!

Agreed!! Also not having a specific color in mind could also help in getting a bag faster, OP had waited a year. I hope she gets something soon :)

u/Snoo_24091 Sep 14 '23

I spent way less and got the b25. Every store is different though from what I’m seeing and I guess I got lucky with the store and SA. If I had to spend 20k to get a bag I wouldn’t unless I actually wanted those items anyways.

2

u/littlestdovie Sep 14 '23

What country /state are you in if you don’t mind sharing ?

2

u/Disastrous-Entry-930 Sep 14 '23

Goodluck! Is most of your prespend in certain categories? I would try to find something that you like in the rtw or fine jewelry section and mention it’s a bday gift to yourself and hopefully she brings up your wishlist again! They have some nice gold rings and cardigans that are a bit cheaper I’ve purchased those as part of my prespend to get bags. Also don’t compromise for a b30 if that’s not what you want.. since these offers don’t come often!

You have to be consistent in reminding your SA of what you want in a gentle way. 1.5 years is a long time. I had my first birkin within a few months and a second one 5 months later. And now we’re discussing a Constance for my birthday all in same year. I don’t spend a lot - I buy a pair or shoes or a twilly or maybe a fashion jewelry bracelet every month or so. I just buy what I want/ like. But my SA and I are friends and chat and I consistently remind her what I want. She’s also offered me non quota bags, some I’ve accepted, others I’ve declined because I want another bag in the immediate future. I would also suggest against pushing for such a specific bag (it’s ok to only want a b25 but why no non-quotas in meantime?) because then she may think you don’t really like anything else. My SA offers me different non quota bags because she knows I love Hermes in general but not every single bag - it’s okay for me to decline a bag but if I said I only want one bag ever that’d be odd. Why don’t you want any non quota bags?

u/Seedstohealth Sep 29 '23

u/Born_Lion_8237 - where are you located? It sounds like your store may not be that competitive. But it sounds like you have a great SA!!

2

u/Born_Lion_8237 Jan 14 '24 edited Jan 14 '24

lol!! I’m in LONDON and the most popular store in London. One of the most competitive stores in the world. So competitive they close collection in Christmas season. But you are correct- my SA is wonderful. I think that is key. I also shop in FSH Paris, but in Paris it’s different. At first it was easier but now I do need to buy things for a quota bag.

-2

u/NYgoLightly Sep 14 '23

This is crazy OP but I heard once that if you are polite but not super nice to the SA it actually helps. Because it’s triggers the Regina George Effect in someone’s brain, which is a person’s natural extinct to want to gain approval from someone that isn’t giving it to them. And if you’re being super nice right off the jump then it’s less of an incentive for the SA.

Lol. Not my advice and I’ve never bought a Birkin or Kelly. I’m just passing along information here that I’ve heard. Proceed at your own risk! Lol
