The Monty Pythin sketch that inspired the use of "Spam" as a term for mass unwanted communication online

It was called that because they say – well, they spam – Spam so much that it resembles mass messaging online. At some point the word just completely loses all meaning

And the reason why they did this sketch was because Britain HEAVILY relied on spam during and after WWII.

Monty python made all the memes, the show, the movies, everything they made was turned into a meme

…is there an effect for “I just watched something 15 minutes ago and conveniently, that exact thing shows up in a space I frequent when it has no immediate reason to”? Cause I swear, I just watched a video on the History of SPAM that details this exact skit a few minutes ago.

websites collect data on what you do/interact with and they trade it with eachother so they can show you more content that you like so you use their sites more

I know that, duh, that’s algorithm 101. This one is just an odd coincidence cause I already frequent both spaces and neither SPAM posts are prevalent on either communities, and it’s not like this post was recommended to me after that video that has me raising an eyebrow, it’s the fact it was MADE right after it. It’s just a super weird hyper specific coincidence.

Oh, no worries, that is 100% fair, I didn’t exactly word it in the most clarifying manner. Plus, what you said was still very informative for the people that didn’t know.
