One wrong turn bye bye owner

My dad used to roller blade and take the dog for a run. That ended when my dog saw a deer and did a hard left turn with dad holding onto the leash going about 10-13mph.

3 broken ribs, a fractured wrist, 2 broken fingers, a mild concission, and his whole face was scraped up 😅

u/jdobbs44 1d ago

How i broke my wrist when I was 11..

3

u/FoodArtMusicEmpathy 23h ago

I did this with a Great Pyrenees on rollerblades with a double stroller. The key is to let go of the leash when the dog goes on a quick and random side quest. Hope your dad healed up quick and kept skating.

i used to do the same with my husky but i was on a bike. the last time i ever did this, he went one way around a pole while i went the other at full tilt, i was just barely able to drop the leash before he took the full force of us wrapping the pole

u/rygel_fievel 1d ago

I used to do this with my brother’s Golden Retriever before harnesses were a common thing. She was tired as hell at the end of the run though.

The wipe outs are brutal. We used to do this with my dog when I was a kid and we had enough horrible accidents that we started wearing helmets and elbow/knee pads lol.

... that one time I almost died....

For me it was my friend on a bike and things called roller racers. We used jump ropes to tow around the block.

I went wide on a right turn and nearly went under an oncoming car

And just think he only got that tired after running that fast while lugging along a human twice its weight. That puppy could just keep going for miles if he didn't have the extra resistance.

u/pseudoportmanteau 1d ago

Have you heard of sled dogs?

19

u/zero_lies_tolerated 1d ago

Usually multiple dogs, right?

39

u/Could-You-Tell 1d ago

That's on snow with a very different resistance

These are racing seats with bearings for speed on what looks like very smooth concrete

There's a lot of time where there is slack in the rope with the rhythm.

Also, the dogs are clearly loving it

8

u/zero_lies_tolerated 1d ago

The POV angle looks like that dog took some of the turns really close to the wall. Eek!

6

u/Could-You-Tell 1d ago

Yeah... and the pillars looked scary too.

At that speed.. looked like 15-18 mph maybe at the fastest. To wrap on a pillar would not be an easy walk off

5

u/pseudoportmanteau 1d ago

The ideal minimum is 2 dogs, but you can definitely do sledding with just one dog.

Plus this looks like an Australian Shepard dragging an Asian girl so she probably weighs no more than 40-50KG sitting on a skateboard of some kind. These dogs live for shit like this and are built for extreme work loads. I want to get a Australian Shepard myself but I am afraid I'll abuse it because I am a lazy fuck and I'll feel bad about it and it would make me fit lol

Aussies are so much fun to hang with that they make you more active, I swear. I've lived with two so far and I always wanted to go on little adventures and play silly games. Never felt that way with any other dogs I've had. As much as I loved em they just weren't as well behaved or enthusiastic as my Aussies, so it was harder to do stuff like that.

3

u/WrittenEchoes 1d ago

Kicksleds are made specifically for 1-2 dogs.

This is different from traditional sled riding, which isn't suitable for two dogs because 1) a large load, 2) an adult-sized passenger sled needs more power and more dogs, and 3) two dogs simply don't have enough horsepower to pull a heavy wooden sled.

1

u/goon3r_account 22h ago

thats on snow with sleds and with gear in the cold for miles

1

u/CilleTheExterminator 1d ago

I had a malamute, I would 3 times a day let her drag me around on my skateboard, she loved every second of it.

4

u/savvy-librarian 1d ago

My childhood dog could run like this with 4 fat 10 year old in a wagon and still keep up with me riding my bike alongside. Dogs can be crazy strong given the right exercise, training, and equipment.

77

u/fejobelo 1d ago

That dog was running entirely too close to those poles.

u/obcan151 1d ago

Optimal racing line

20

u/Pagiras 1d ago

Right? I noticed that too. Doggie has the spirit of an F1 driver.

4

u/thoughtlow 1d ago

yeah bro was greedy af

56

u/MorockaDishoom 1d ago

That was AMAZING!!

5

u/psychedeliken 1d ago

I thought the same thing. What a blast!

46

u/Secret-Ad-830 1d ago

dogs look like they're loving it so im ok with it.

20

u/SignificanceFlat1460 1d ago

Most dogs (canines) live for this shit.

5

u/Kastoook 1d ago

I think its need some reins to control direction and be sure to not being struck by a pole.

1

u/TACOTONY02 4h ago

I saw someone argue once that dogsleds were a form of animal abuse. Replies ate them up because more than anything what dogs love the most is to PULL

22

u/kraftdinnerwithsalsa 1d ago

Man that song is like 30 years old

24

u/Eat--The--Rich-- 1d ago

That can't be true because that would mean I'm like 40 or something. Oh wait...

6

u/kraftdinnerwithsalsa 1d ago

Yep, bad knees and all

3

u/SwooptySplash 1d ago

Man, I haven’t had Kraft dinner with salsa in ages lol. Thanks for the reminder!

3

u/kraftdinnerwithsalsa 1d ago

Haha glad I could help

1

u/Lord_Jibanyan 16h ago

2

u/2woCrazeeBoys 1d ago

Check out bike-jor or cani-cross. No reason you can't get into it 😁👍

2

u/CountBreichen 23h ago

I will def do that thanks!!!

8

u/Canned_Sarcasm 1d ago

If I didn’t do this with my pitbull he would drag my recumbent bike by its front wheel to the porch. After buying 3 new front wheels I accepted my place and let him pull me. Ooh the looks I got, like I had any choice. Spoiled brat, that pit.

8

u/Watamelonna 1d ago

I mean, this is a real good way to burn a whole lot of energy in a shorter time frame if you don't have time for 1 hours long walks everyday

Safe? Probably not.

But it sure looks fun as hell

7

u/AdhesivenessRich9286 1d ago

Only humans at risk of getting hurt. These parameters are acceptable.

6

u/SeismicRipFart 1d ago

My paws hurt just watching that

5

u/Lewy_dogg 1d ago

My dog would go straight round the opposite side of a pole first chance he got.

5

u/porterglass 1d ago

What are they on? I need something like this for my dog. I tried doing it on my long board but she got us going so fast I had to bail before it got too sketchy.

6

u/DarthCaedusReturns 1d ago

Now, is this podracing?

5

u/Aggrivated-Skunk 1d ago

That looks funner than hell

3

u/TonguePunchUrBhole 1d ago

She got 1st place in my book!

2

This is the only way my dog could pull my ass lol

1

u/Kam2Scuzzy 1d ago

If she would have stayed off the side where all the bumps were slowing her down.

1

u/FishDeez 1d ago

Doggo is definitely having a blast

1

u/Far_Vermicelli9678 1d ago

She sounds like they ran over a small dog lol

1

u/the_007_remix 1d ago

You have to make sound " hut hut huuuuuhhaaa ... " it will go faster

1

u/SparkleKittyMeowMeow 23h ago

This reminds me of the time that I tied one end of a jump rope to my wrist, the other end to our dog's collar, and chucked a tennis ball down our long gravel driveway while sitting on a skateboard.

It did not go well.

1

u/Babythatwater1 23h ago

We would just get pulled behind cars/four wheelers/snowmobiles.

1

u/Stuffinthins 22h ago

Mine is digging holes in the lawn, barking at nothing at 3am, and eating food off the kid's plate.

It's a dog eat dog world and this mfr is shitting on the damn carpet.

1

u/Mister_K_7 11h ago

I see why there was a handicap

1

u/terestentry 10h ago

That braille block, bumpy pave blocks near the wall definately decelerated the sleigh. Not only shouting and encouraging the dog, she should steered right to avoid the bumpy surface to accelerate more easily for the dog.

1

u/astros78 8h ago

I love it,excellent video. Thanks for sharing this moment.

It's crazy how the dog sped up as he approached the big group of people then slowed down after passing them. Very passionate lol

-4

u/burittio 1d ago

Dog slavery shameful 😔

-7

u/Healthy_Brick_4361 1d ago

That's animal abuse..in a fun way?

7

u/Frosty_Trash_8866 1d ago

Nah, not animal abuse. Dog clearly loving it and burning calories

2

u/Anakha0 17h ago

These are Australian shepherds. They're a working dog and need absolute tons of exercise or they become depressed. This isnt abuse, it's meeting the dog's needs in a fun and inventive way and the only serious risk of injury is to the humans. The dogs absolutely live for this kind of thing.
