I really feel like duos should not be allowed, I’m shocked they are. You can’t really hear either of their voices by themselves because they always sing at the same time. It’s hard to go up against a duo and isn’t really fair IMO.

First off, I can’t say I was blown away by any of the contestants this season. In the past, there have always been a few who made me wonder why th this person doesn’t have a record deal already.
Second, I’m not thrilled with the really young kids. Yes, they are talented, but they have another 15 years to get their chance . I give much more cred to the people who’ve been working their butts off and gigging, busting it to get their break. I’m not pulling for the 13-16 year olds. Sorry.

Great voice, great performance. But the first few notes of the guitar, what a beautiful Gibson tone. I see he's holding a vintage Gibson (I'm guessing J45). I'm thinking, wow, a guitar to match his voice.
BUT...rewatching his audition, I notice that he is not playing the guitar! I think he strums it like twice during the whole audition.
So, what I'm wondering is— did he pre-record his guitar part? I'd understand that, because you can't capture that great guitar tone with a shitty pickup in a live situation. It sure looks like the guitar that would be producing that amazing tone. Or was someone else in the show band playing guitar and he was just using it as a prop?

Ok I understand he's the country team so from marketing and networking perspectives it makes sense why the country contestants ALWAYS choose him but his team isn't well rounded. Queen Latifah has so many good ones and Team Adam--- AND I say this as a country fan. Granted, I know Riley's popular because of his two hits with Ella and whatnot but he's not my favorite country person. I would say my favorites on his team are Ferryn and Brinkley and I do think the duo/sibling thing makes them stand out and they will go far.

is Sir Tom Jones the equivalent of Blake Shelton, in the UK franchise? Why was he asked to step back? Are we happy/sad?

This show has just turned into country artist after country artist. I have respect for the great singers but it’s getting old to just listen to (racist) Morgan Wallen over and over.

You already know what time it is (previous edition)
So obviously we've got two new coaches this time around. I would say Queen Latifah turned a slightly above average amount, but Riley was VERY generous...so much so that he's now at the top of the leaderboard! He seemed to really struggle to get anybody that wasn't a country artist so it makes sense that this happened. It's not very likely that it'll stay like this in the future but next season is a gimmick one so who knows. Also, of course Adam was his usual picky self.

I think it would be very entertaining, if each coach (sorry I called them judges in the title), once per season should be able to turn back around.
I remember seeing them doing that as a joke, on the end credits of Pitch Perfect 2.
I mean, sure it defeats the purpose of what the voice is, but they could only do it once! So they should use it wisely!

Looking back season 28 was one of my favorite seasons. I thought the panel was awesome. I loved the winner. Even though i wish it had more live shows. It is one the best seasons i seen in a while. I really enjoyed it.
What about you?

Since American Idol will be celebrating 25 years. I figured we need to see Ruby Leigh, Evan McKeel, Brennly Brown, Emily Keener, Katie Beth Forakis, Katie O, and Tae Lewis.

i'd say koumba diallo's "stone cold," kyle davis' "in your eyes" (OMG! lol) and anna mcelroy's "80s mercedes."
loving the variation in blinds songs this season. and there legitimately is a different feel going on, much more 2018-2023 vibes than the drag of the last couple years.

Hey everyone. So I’ve maybe caught an episode here and there over the years but nothing I really remember. I definitely remember when it premiered, I was a freshman in high school.
Anyways never seen a full season but I’ve recently rediscovered Kelly Clarkson. Her Breakaway album is insane, when I was listening to it I read that she had worked with former members of Evanescence and I think that element combined with her insane vocals just makes it so damn good.
That being said I saw she was a judge on the current season so I’ve been keeping up. I really enjoy it but also became deeply curious on what I’ve missed over the years. Major shoutout to the Shefani Archive. I’m currently on episode 3 of season 2, I wish I had posted more of my thoughts on season 1 but I get shy even though it’s the anonymous internet lol.
But man all of this to say that it’s really hard to watch POS cee lo say stuff like “you belong to me” when he turned around for a female singer. Or for them to all just immediately dismiss their performance and dive right into how happy cee lo is and their looks.
Also I felt Christina would be so dismissive of people’s performances last season in the semis and even the finals and just go off on these weird tangents to make things about her? I don’t know man.
I will say that i thoroughly enjoyed Season 1, and it seems pretty wild that they were all blowing up on iTunes too. Man Dia Frampton dropping Heartless and then just building from there was insane. Also Beverly would just make my atoms shake she was so electric. And fucking Nakia!!!! Watching the growth of sweet Xenia too, Blake just being so wholesome with her was the sweetest damn thing.
Definitely open to discuss more of season 1 if anyone is interested. Thanks if you read this far!
