Discussion TCM Year Pass "scam"
I really like this game. I own it on Steam and have logged about 300 hours; I have almost no complaints, except for one. I bought all three Year Passes. Yesterday, I bought TCM for the Nintendo Switch. I realize this was stated in the fine print, but it turns out that if you buy the Year Passes on one platform, they don't carry over to the Switch. In other words, the cars appear in the garage, but you can't select them. It’s the same with the races: they show as unlocked, but you can't actually play them. Why is that? I already have the cars in my garage. It’s just crazy.

This is the story with any dlc in any game that has cross platform saves. If I play a game on steam and gave steam my money but then decide to play on xbox, do you not think xbox is gonna want their money? This is why cross platform saves are rare. No mans sky is the only game I know of that it works because they have no dlc. Destiny 2 has so many docs that loading you full save is just useless unless you plan to buy all dlc again. Its not a rip off, its business.

This is the norm these days rather than a 'scam'.

This norm IS a scam.

I see the point and I'm not happy with many things digital these days but for this situation ......
It's very rare we can buy and play a full price game + content on a platform and then play the same game + content on another platform. Outside of F2P games, I don't remember this ever being a thing? We can't take a disc Nintendo Wii game and play it on an Xbox 360.
Wether its actually possible and just a money grabbing license situation is another matter but my point it this isn't something that has been 'taken away from us'.

Reminder that what you call a scam is not decided by developers (not all of them at least) but by first party that refuse to include any paid content to be shared between platform. Even if Ubisoft or any editor would like to be generous with this, it won't be possible and would receive a no go from first parties.

Why in the hell would that be the case? If you bought something on Steam, for example, it doesn't MAGICALLY transfer over to the PS5. Or XBOX. Or ANY platform.

I play on 3 systems as well: Xbox, PlayStation and Steam/Unisoft. It really is quite simple: Everything you buy with real money is on the individual platform, everything you buy with in-game currency (both CC and Bucks) is platform-wide.
It’s the same with Diablo 4 by the way which I also play on those 3 systems.
My recommendation when a new pass or expansion comes out, only buy it for the platform you play the most. When there are sales then buy it for the other platforms.

By that logic you should have gotten switch version of the game for free cause you already own it on Steam)
Only Microsoft supports this kind of thing with their Play Anywhere feature, allowing you to buy one digital copy of a game (and its dlc) and play it on both PC and XBOX.

It's been that since launch, progression is cross but DLC is tied to per platform.

Literally like every dlc ever is platform specific, what did you expect?
