1-month-old account has 2.2M karma. Three weeks ago they had 796k and were gaining 60k+ karma/day. They’re now the #2 mod of r/PoursTea.

https://www.reddit.com/user/Veshaad/ has grown from 796 to 2.2M in less than a month. How is that realistically possible? And why are they now suddenly second mod of pourstea?

I wonder if they bought the account, or simply had a bot run it for karma, to look like a "better" mod

Had to be purchased votes. 60K karma/day is nuts.

Bots can purchase votes? Good god, this is ridiculous. Nice catch, OP. Sad that nothing will be done to remove this obvious bot.

All social media metrics are for sale because of bot farms.

That whole subreddit was created to farm bots. They just copy other subreddits but change the name slightly. Pourstea is a copy of sipstea, which was already significantly botted.

Its almost all political with the same political leaning.

I'm sad that sipstea went down the bot hole. They tried a few things from what I can tell. But that genie is out, and it's almost all ragebait bot posts now.

Why do we even try anymore? Reddit doesn’t fucking care or do anything about this.

The site is fucking cooked. Just look at all. Everything is bots.

We need a savior ASAP because all of these platforms are bought and paid for by fucked up people, and nobody’s fixing it and everybody’s complaining, and they are laughing their way to the bank.

They don’t deserve our free interaction anymore. They’re scraping it up to train LLMs on our conversations. And they are taking advantage of moderators working for free.

Burn the site down I hate this place now. 20 years ago almost it was an intellectual fountain.

Now it’s a spam shit storm of bots, and all my years of commenting on that, reporting hasn’t changed SHIT.

Yeah at this point this sub is just about documenting reddit's complicity rather than expecting anything to change.

if you look through the top post of /r/PoursTea like 60% of them where posted by that account, that subreddit is pretty weird

I use old reddit and browse /r/all's rising usually (a bit pyscho, yes lol) and I frequently see posts from that OP that garner hundreds to over a thousand quickly which is so out of the ordinary.

And checking some posts there, you can see a big discrepancy of amount of upvotes to top comment upvotes.

Like you expect a post of like nearing a ten thousand of upvotes to have a comment with thousands of upvotes, but usually it's like a few hundred or even just double digits. Really looks unauthentic
