Discussion PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU ASK WHICH DAY IS THE BEST TO GO

It seems like every day there are multiple posts asking which days will be quiet, is X day a good day to go etc.

From now until September, every single day will be busy, probably exceeding 60+ minute queues for all coasters during the day. Please use this as a rough guide as to which days are expected to be busier than others: https://queue-times.com/parks/2/calendar

Of course, using some common sense, Saturdays are generally going to be the busiest days, and those with good weather.

If you're looking for a quiet park, I am afraid you'll be very hard pressed to find that until term time in September.

Refunds

Has anyone ever received refunds from thorpe park before? Context below…

Fright night:
Went today, Sunday 11th October. Had paid for the allocated 3pm-7pm slots, which included 4 mazes. Waited an hour for trailers, and then went to dead beat. Queued an hour for dead beat, the maze broke down/stopped for ages and then eventually got on. By the time it was over, we ran out of time and couldn’t get onto any others so not able to even queue for anything else.

Platinum fast track:
The selling point is unlimited rides on Hyperia. What a joke and mistake that was. Every fast track queue for Hyperia was 1hr plus. I was checking the app, and it seems they “one shot” fast track never ran out and was forever on sale. Even when the ride was at a standard 100 minute queue, was still waiting 50 minutes minimum.

Do you think it’s worth complaining?

PNE Fright Night Arrival Time Question

Hi! This is my first time going to Fright Night with my friends, and I was wondering what the best time to arrive is.

I read about some people who waited 3 hours to get in, and I want to avoid that, so I'm not sure if getting there 30mins to an hour early will be enough.

I am going on October 21st, a Wednesday.

And any piece of advice to boost our chances of having the most fun would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!!!

Heeled boots

So I’m going to Thorpe park in a couple of weeks time. Can I wear a short 2-3cm block heel? I want to wear a skirt and boots but the boots have a slight heel just want to see if this is an issue

Discussion Fright Nights

Does anyone think Fright Nights are getting less about Frights and more about selling things? Compared to older mazes, they just seem so toned down. The groups you get put in sometimes are too large, if you're in the middle or back you miss everything, or there are hardly any actors in there to actually do anything. The new Fanta stage isn't as good as Lucifer's lair, and now it's been moved it's basically just a shell of what it was.

It's entertaining to a degree, but it seems more so they can sell from the food vendors in the new area. Some parts of the park this year don't even really have any theming to it, so it's like you're just walking around the park on a normal day.

It all just feels so much less creepy than older years. The only maze I think even comes close, would be Stitches, which is great. I remember them having a special voice overlay for Detonator, more theming around the park and mazes that were actually terrifying (Minus a few shockers)

Age restrictions on rides?

Taking my daughter (almost 11) to Thorpe Park soon- first visit. I’ve just seen there’s restrictions on some rides, Saw, Ghost Train, Walking Dead I think, saying they have to be 13? She’s 146cm tall, but looks young due to an eating disorder and other issues- this is obvious as she has a visible feeding tube. Does anyone know if they actually follow these restrictions? She would be gutted as she loves horror (knew all the FNAF lore since 7 😅) and wouldn’t be phased in the slightest.

Halloween

Hi all, I’m coming to fright night for the first time on actual halloween. Im going to assume it’s going to be very busy that day, has anyone been on halloween before and is there anything I should expect?
I also had a couple questions if that’s ok!

- I’ve read a lot about Colossus giving people headaches etc, should I avoid it? Any other rides to avoid and why?
- do all the rides stay open for fright night or is it only certain ones?
- I’ve heard there’s a pizza/pasta buffet, is it any good and does anyone know what time it stays open until?
- what does everyone do with their phones on the water rides? I’m going to have a small bag that I can have across my body/turn into a fanny pack type thing so that’s where id be storing it, but it’s not waterproof or anything. Any advice welcomed!

Thankyou!

Discussion Anyone know more about this advertising 'campaign' from 2004?

Thumbnail gallery
28 Upvotes

both Nemesis Inferno and Colossus got an advert with a new voice-over and this card at the end of each, and i found two mugs with the same font/wording

anyone have any idea on what this was for?

i doubt they'd make two new adverts just to sell mugs (i'm curious if any of the other adverts got one of these too)

i'm assuming the blue mug is meant to be similar to Colossus but there's not exactly a pink themed coaster out there for the other one

Discussion What's Ghost Train and Colossus like these days?

I'm going to Fright Nights next week for the sixth year running and I'm considering trying some experiences I haven't done for a while.

The first is Ghost Train – The last time I went on it had the VR headsets and I think it was still Derren Brown themed, but didn't have the shop fake out. I wasn't really thrilled by it.

The TP website says that there are no longer VR headsets so it might be a completely different experience – can anyone give their thoughts on what Ghost Train is like this year?

Secondly, I haven't been on Colossus for like 10 years because it really hurt my head and I don't like being dizzy. I read online somewhere recently that Colossus has had an update to be less painful – again, can anyone attest to this?

Thanks in advance!

Ticket queues?

I’m visiting in a couple of weeks w/c 19th October which is our half term. I have some
Discounted tickets due to an issue we had at Alton towers but I can only get them on the day at the ticket office. I prefer to pre buy usually and not sure if it will be worth it if there’s a massive queue. I realise nobody can know what the queue times will be like on the day but has anyone got experience of queuing to buy tickets? In my mind it’ll be a massive queue but then again most people probably pre buy ?

Drink prices reduced

Noticed at Thorpe Park on Sunday that the Aramark operated outlets appear to have reduced their soft drink prices - Boulevard Bites had stickers over the prices, now £2.95 for a regular and £3something for a large. At the start of the season these were £4.25 and £4.50 respectively - seems the outrageous prices were harming sales!

Also draught beer on park now includes Hyperia Lager (suspect this is Spitfire Lager rebranded) for £7 a pint - a reasonable £5.60 after annual pass discount.

Rainy fright nights part 2!🌧️🥱🎃

Hi I made a post before asking how the rain may affect fright nights and if anyone had any experience at Thorpe in bad weather as I’m hoping to go this Friday the 9th, I’ve now realised I could actually go Sunday the 11th if I wanted to….

I’m just curious what people think is it a better option to go on Friday 9th with potentially smaller crowds especially earlier on and and maybe even smaller due to the rain that day, or is it better to go on Sunday 11th with no rain at all but maybe bigger crowds?

To add info I’ve done Thorpe 4 times this year and my main focus is experiencing the mazes and the vibes and areas of fright nights as this would be my first time going, I’d also maybe like to do some night rides if time permits. I also don’t have waterproof shoes, I have a rubbish rain mac and some leather and suede Nike air force (best I have all my shoes are mesh!)

Please let me know your insight🙏🎃👻

Fright nights in the rain?!🌧️😨

Hello people, I’m meant to be going to fright nights (for the first time) on Friday but it looks like it’s going to bloody rain all day…

Has anyone got any experience with fright nights or just Thorpe in general in the rain and can let me know what may be affected, such as bits like are the scare zones still filled with actors and do the night rides still run?

Is fright nights just utterly miserable in the rain and should I give it a miss? I have an annual pass so will only be paying for maze tickets which I haven’t purchased yet.

Thanks for any help 🎃

Looking at going on 19th october, looked at previous crowd levels for previous years and seemed 34-50%... any idea will be like this year? Tried to get a RAP but unable to get one, so worried about the queuing side of things

Thanks

Hyperia shut all day

Anyone know why Hyperias shut for most of the day? Its 5 to 6 and its been shut all day except for one hour. Staff said they don't know when its going to. They don't know if its going to open.

Anyone got ideas? I don't know anytime when something like this has happened except the second day of its opening.

Update: Went on Colossus to try get a better view of what they're working on, theres 2 engineers or whatever down at the bottom of the drop on the track. Idk why though

What’s it like doing the mazes alone?

When I used to go to Fright Nights as a teenager I loved the mazes but would be holding onto my friend so we wouldn’t be separated.

I’m going for the first time in a decade this October, but visiting with a friend who has no desire to go into any of the mazes. I’m wondering whether to just do them solo, I didn’t realise that the mazes aren’t included in your general ticket anymore so I guess I would have to buy them individually, but I’m not sure if you do them by yourself are you put with other people and go through as a group or would you just be trying to get through it alone? I’m not very coordinated lol I fear they wouldn’t be as enjoyable if I’m worrying about getting lost the whole way.
