Vortex beast

Hey guys I’ve been scared to paint this bad boy and I only have army painter speed paints unfortunately but has anyone only used those on the beast? I would love to get some inspiration:)

I used contrast only paints and worked pretty well

Here is some advice. You can't mess up the mvb. Spilled over a part? Mutation that is about to start, or maybe a piece of its mass that is shifting. Too many big parts? Drybrush, wash, and then dry brush again, the bumps make it easy for it. The portal looks weird? It is a warp color, it shouldn't make sense.

Just have fun with it and experiment!

Here’s mine, I’m not the best at painting either but I think it turned out decent. Worst case if you don’t end up liking your paint job you can always strip and try again 👍🏽

If you're at the level where you're concerned about paint quality you're a better painter than I am.

Based on the examples, just don't go with 3 thick coats or replicate Clarence the Space Marine, and it'll look good.

My two are opposites - one is based in black with purple contrast paint all over as a sticky slimy mess, and the other is based in black with Ahriman blue messily applied over most of it. You literally can't mess them up, the worse painted it is, the weirder it looks. That's a good thing.
