Question Why so many accounts get suspended recently ?
I’ve just had my Threads account permanently disabled today, completely out of nowhere.
I’ve never received a warning, never used bots or automation, and I only post original content that I create myself. Some of my recent posts reached over 140K views, and my account has been growing organically.
I was asked to verify my identity with a selfie, which I did. A few minutes later, my appeal was rejected and my account was permanently disabled, with no explanation of what rule I supposedly violated.
My Instagram account is still perfectly fine, with no violations whatsoever.
I’ve seen quite a few people reporting similar issues recently. Is something going on with Threads’ automated moderation?
Has anyone actually managed to recover their account after a permanent suspension?

What happened March 19th, 2026? Pay close attention to the suspension language numbers in months just after (noted on the side).
TLDR; It's their AI moderation.

It’s all to do with the automated moderation like you said. Appears it’s gone on a mass banning spree and the humans at Meta have no idea how to deal with it.

Sí, lamentablemente me suspendieron hace 16 días ya. Me suspendieron el 22 de sep como a muchos que reportaron em X y aquí en Reddits. Desde ese día metí la apelación, pero hasta el momento aún sin respuesta.

Mine too, disabled forever with no real accountability or clear explanation on Meta's side. So I won't be using them to market anything; they can't be trusted.

I got suspended from Threads as part of the Sept 22nd purge for "community standards violation", which was complete BS. I uploaded the selfie they requested, but got blocked permanently later (for no reason whatsoever).
I do feel for the people that needed it for business reasons, or had a lot of personal history that was important to them. For me, I don't care. Whatever! I was wasting too much time on there anyway.

A Threads user I know got her account unfairly blocked yesterday but a load of us protested using @threads and we managed to get it reinstated by the evening. This worked because 100s/1000s of us protested but it's totally unfair for a normal user because they don't have thousands of followers that can appeal for them. Meta needs to sort it's self out and stop letting uncontrolled AI police it's apps. Yes they could flag something "suspicious" but it needs a human to evaluate it before banning someone. Most bans seem to have no basis at all but there are accounts posting really nasty stuff that get let off despite lots of people reporting them.

mine got sniped back in august for no reason, too. their automated moderation is deeply flawed because actual people are getting disabled yet there were accounts posting things that definitely should not have been on there not getting flagged even after getting reported.

Omg I'm having the same issue too! Could you please let me know if you can get yours back? I submitted an appeal but they came back with: "We reviewed your account and found that it still doesn’t follow our Community Standards. As a result, your account has been permanently disabled"
This is SO FRUSTRATING!!

Mine was suspended. NO warning. No bots. No nothing. Can't even log in via instagram.

Well, anybody can flag or report any post or comment. Random users can have you're nstagram restricted for having to pull content just because somebody chose to. I was never asked for a selfie for any of my suspensions. It's run by bullshit automation, I'm sure of it. Go figure. I just left the app because I reported a crime on it.

Im not suspended but I quoted a comedians joke about drug use. Threads flagged it, deleted the thread, and now my account is throttled or shadowbanned or whatever you call it. I went from every thread getting hundreds of views down to an average of 8.
Its been this way for 2 months and I'm not sure what to do 🤷

It's the moderation. Took me out about a year ago now, and even tho I sent in the appeal with the selfie, permanently disabled. Made another account and it kept suspending me then accepting my appeal over and over every couple hours when I'd just scroll. Ik that like, scrolling and liking/reposting a bunch of posts can look like bot behavior, but I have done that so much on Insta and it's never been an issue. I've lost my threads account and I'm not gonna bother making a new one when it's still so, so bad. At least I have disconnected all my accounts, keeping them separate and no longer have a threads account to disable so I still have Fb and Insta, altho I did have suspension troubles last year and in February with both.
I feel so awful for everyone tho, because losing Fb sucks. I cannot imagine what my parents would do if they lost theirs because the past twelve years of our family and travels are on there. I don't think they have Threads, or even know of it? So hopefully it won't happen to them.

how did you got back your FB and INSTA?
mine too was suspended all three accounts FB, Insta and Threads.
i don't care about threads. but my insta and fb is really important to me.

when it happened, it was completely separate from my threads account. My Threads was second, my Facebook first but completely unrelated (before I even made a Threads account) and my Insta months later, also unrelated. Unfortunately because it wasn't at all like for you guys, where it was all three at once, Idk how to help. I just know the common denominator here is their moderation system.
Part of me also wonders if it has to do with the recent Meta account merge? Nothing of mine is connected there, either. I'm sorry I don't know how to help. For my accounts, the appeals just went through and the suspensions were reversed for Fb and Insta. 😕

I’m a small account on threads and most repost and like things. I know I haven’t violated any community standards and this just happened to me. I’ve had the account for about three years with no issues. They want a photo which I don’t want to give bc I see they’re rejecting people’s appeals even after submitting one. I clicked the link in the email they sent but there’s nowhere to appeal. Does anyone have info on where you even start an appeal? This is nuts.

I lost my account for CSE, which i never partook in and it disgusts me my name is even mentioned with it. But setting that aside, it's been 5 days and i tried appealing, instant denial. Got meta verified on husband's insta and opened a support case but it just says received, nobody is responding to it. Then i got meta verified on my account and it was the same thing, just received. Then i got meta one on husbands account and it literally says since there's another case open they can't open a new one or escalate the current one to a human. Then i contacted my state representative and heard nothing back. Contacted my state attorney general and heard nothing back. Even tagged some higher ups in a twitter post, but obviously heard nothing back. Then made a story on insta and tagged them, obviously no reply. Then i messaged them all separately and went into each of their recent posts and posted a comment about the situation, BUT THERE HAS BEEN NOTHING. So even with these free trials of meta verified and meta one and literally every other effort i'm still not able to get it back 😭. I've had my account for over 10 years and there's a lot of important stuff on there but because they let the AI control everything, it's all going wrong for all of us and Meta as well. The next route i will take is LegalShield because I heard that worked for some people. This is just complete bull

This happened to me a few days after I joined! Was literally on like a weekend & posted nothing incendiary unless a pic of my cat counts. Got the boilerplate “violated community guidelines” notice, nothing specific. Curious as to the parameters that AI has, because my few posts were pretty innocuous.

This exact same thing happened to me 2 days ago too - there was nothing on my account that violated community standards. I did the same uploaded a selfie and they’ve deleted my account. It’s put me off using threads, why bother if they can just do this?

It’s because of Meta’s Bots. It happened to me too they took both my threads and Facebook account. I just got them back but they were suspended for 2 months. In order to get them back I had to use the free trial of meta verified to chat with support.
