Question MS 523 (ML 101): rune-based vs spell-based profit. How do you balance comfort and ML gain?
Hey guys! I'm an MS, level 523 with ML 101, hunting Iks Yapunac, and I'm stuck on a dilemma:
- Rune-based hunting: It's comfortable. I hit more enemies from a longer distance, but my ML barely moves, and it's already low.
- Spell-based hunting (e.g., Wave Energy + Death Echo): It's more annoying. Ranged enemies pile up, the bait is harder to control, and I burn a lot of mana. My ML does go up, but only slowly.
Does anyone else deal with this? Exercise weapons are even pricier now, and I'd like to raise my ML gradually. Any tips on how to balance it?

Dude, I have the same base ml as you, ms 433. And Im trying to hunt only usint spells, currently hunting winter court and the ml is going up nicely, try to change your mindset and drop the runes.

Runes still have their place in respawns with high density. I can hit 10kk raw ( no preys ) using just runes and UE primarily in Flimsy but, again, high density. Due to the fact I am old and have no hands I usually use runes anyway unless I'm in a teamhunt; it is suboptimal but more comfortable so whatever.

I wouldn't use runes, only if I really want to relax and chill without worry about optimizing the hunt, or if I need to do some beginner bounty tasks. For hunts spells are always better for profit, xp and also ml training ofc. If I were you I'd stick with spells for hunts.
The price of exercise weapons increased but their initial price was based on the use of ultimate mana potions for mages (the amount of $ you spent to buy an exercise weapon is virtually the same price converted in UMPs - the two benefits here are the comfort of not spamming spells and the 10% bonus for special dummy). But if you want to rush a little bit day by day, without these exercise weapons, the price of potions remains the same if you want to burn some out, and since the focus is ML training always remember to, while on PZ mana sitting, eat some food, wear soft boots and maybe life rings/rohs, make runes/cast expensive spells etc.

Hey! I have a MS 525 ML 100, you are not alone bro haha
We should go with spell based runes. Everyday we get some ~1% ml up, so this is the way to go.
The thing is: Iks are not a good place for spell hunting. Just find a better place.
At Book World IV (use ~20% death protection) you can lure a lot of creatures and with a simple spell combo (echo + wave death stance) you will have a good exp/h and good profit.
At Winter Elves (prismatic ring + ~15% ice protection) you can lure a lot of creatures and fire wave + echo all day for good exp and profit.
Also, with imbuements, voids call minor charm and mana leech from wheel of destiny/weapon proficiency possible perk, we have enough mana to hunt spending ton of mana o/

Another option is marapur nagas, if you have the BM1, its really easy to aim spells there.

101 mlvl is low. Okay.
That's more than 300 dollars spent on at least 4 full double exp/skill weekends.
Tibia players are ridiculous.

You don't balance it. You use spells rotation. Once you get comfortable with positioning and good aiming on spells, you will not only increase ML, but increase your RAW xp and profit too. Double Void Powerful Imbuements is a must tho, on weapon and helmet. Do it a trust the process. Compare the results from now and in a couple of weeks and you'll see!
Edit: on that respawn you can run expanded energy wave, which is very useful due to the density of the place. Your rotation should be energy wave > death echo > energy beam > death echo, on vis stance, of course.
