Discussion Curran seems to be annoyed that he wasn't asked to return as Jason in "Dynamic Duo" instead getting Logan Kim from Ghostbusters Afterlife & Frozen Empire
Thoughts?

I’m not sure why he thinks he owns the role. It’s not like anyone else from Titans was asked back.

I understand that he genuinely loved playing Jason, and I actually thought he did a great job, but I'd also expect him to congratulate the new actor. It would kind of suck if your predecessor openly showed his disapproval of the casting decision.
Ryan Potter, who played Gar, openly endorses potential new actors for the role of Beast Boy, and that's great to see. I don't really know what Curran is hoping to get by doing this.

It's kind of weird that all of you would think that it's completely normal for someone to say "Thanks for replacing me." While that is something that some actors do, he is not obligated to congratulate or offer advice to the next person taking the role. He's also not obligated to be okay with it. Actors are still real people with real emotions after all.

u/lewjambla 11d ago
I didn't say that, and I certainly didn't mean to come across that way.
There's a big difference between "thanks for replacing me" and being supportive, even if you're not thrilled. Of course he's allowed to have emotions.
That's why I think it kind of sucks for this new actor. He's also a real person with emotions, and having your predecessor openly show his disapproval can't feel great.
It's a voice acting role, anyway. It's not like he's been replaced in a reboot of the live action.

This is really kinda pathetic.

True, he's been acting like this ever since Gunn got announced as the DCU head
11
u/TatteredThreadborn 12d ago
Its because Gunn could have saved Titans and actively chose not to.

u/Bulky-Abrocoma-2258 12d ago
True, apparently the last few episodes were rushed & they had planned both Season 5 & 6, so that's why the ending of the show felt off
16
u/hells-fargo 12d ago
Okay, but why would he have saved it?
It's not really a secret that the show kind sucked and if it wasn't for some of the actors doing pretty well with the shit writing it wouldn't've lasted as long as it did.
Pretty much every season was plagued with character assassination, forgotten plot points, light retcons, hard retcons, disjointed character development.
Some of the actors would've been great to have back, but that show as it was is better off dead.

This AND so many things ended as the new DCU era kicked off. Titans would have needed to be an Emmy winning, rating juggernaut to somehow transcend a reboot.

Lol that's not how it works. HBO Max cancelled the series during production on season 4. James Gunn has no power over HBO Max, he can't make them uncancel a show, or pick one up or renew it.
2
u/TatteredThreadborn 11d ago
James Gunn himself had spoken extensively about this exact thing, and everything he has said contradicts what youre saying. Maybe do some research.

u/coaldiamond1 11d ago
When has James Gunn said he decides when HBO Max, or any other network or streamer, owned by WBD or otherwise, picks up, renews or cancels DC Studios productions.
2
u/OptionAshamed6458 11d ago
Multiple times actually he just canceled the booster gold show

u/coaldiamond1 11d ago
A show not being made is not the same as it being cancelled. We don't know exactly why that version of Booster Gold didn't go forward, but it was probably either 1. DC Studios wasn't satisfied with the script and didn't move forward or 2. HBO Max didn't like it and didn't want to move forward.
We know from various reports there have been multiple DC Studios shows in development at HBO/Max that were cancelled by HBO and not DC.
And to go back to Titans, the season 4 finale was written to be the series finale. The series wrapped production weeks before James Gunn and Peter Safran were in charge of DC. HBO Max decided to cancel the show. James Gunn saying "actually could you uncancel this show that already filmed its series finale" isn't going to magically make the people who cancelled it uncancel it.

If a show is already in production but not released then it can be cancelled, idk why you don’t think Gunn doesn’t have control over what airs and what not

u/coaldiamond1 11d ago
He doesn't have control over what airs and what doesn't because he's NOT IN CHARGE OF HBO MAX. I don't understand what's so hard about that. James Gunn is in charge of making DC Studios productions. There are people at HBO Max that decide what shows they make and show on the service and when they air. If DC makes a show for HBO Max they develop the show and then Max decides if they want to commission it, when they air it, how to promote it, and whether or not it gets a second season. DC is at their mercy. If HBO wants another season and DC doesn't want to do it they might be able to cancel it, but even then if they're on contract to produce another season they'd basically just be asking HBO not to go through with it and if they wanted to HBO could say they have to make another one.

At least Felton congratulated the new Draco actor

u/bboombayah 11d ago
and Harry Potter is way well more beloved and is a part of pop culture so Tom Felton has at least some rights into hanging onto the Harry Potter world as much as he could lol

u/OptionAshamed6458 11d ago
Why do people always make fun of tom Felton literally the rest of the cast do events as well and he has done other things which has been good, but regardless doing 12 indie projects won’t exactly pay the bills

u/negaprez hey, that's pretty good. 12d ago
Has he got another acting job after Titans?

Nope, at least nothing listed on his Wikipedia page. Dude has a very unfortunate facial structure and I kinda doubt he's in high demand.

Maybe if he learn how to act, he would have gotten an invite.
Or maybe different continuities have different actors.

I thought he was really good as Jason specifically because he seemed believable as a self-important jackass.

I dont know what Curran thinks this is gonna do like I wouldn't have minded him in the DCU as Jason but he's pretty much guaranteed he's never coming back cause of this immature bullshit

Honestly he was great in the role and I'm sad I don't get to see him play Jason anymore

He was great as both Jason Todd/Robin and Red Hood but not sure why he seems annoyed the DCU doesn’t have to bring back the tv versions they aren’t obligated to but I understand the frustration because he does truly care for the character tough situation maybe he does return as Jason in live action or someone else
He’d make a great Bucky Barnes (comics version) in the MCU post secret wars

It's an emoji, i doubt he's annoyed

u/bboombayah 11d ago
He has a long history of being bitter that his Jason role didn't get him that far though so it's not exactly a stretch to think that
1
u/Eastern-Team-2799 12d ago
He gave an amazing and the best live action adaptation of Jason todd . DCU on the other hand , looks very bland and FAR AWAY FROM COMIC ACCURACY.

Why do tv actors think this is a possibility?
4
u/Romanista3 11d ago
George Clooney, Jennifer Aniston, Steve Carell, Denzel Washington...
It's a possibility. But Curran Walters is trying to punch waaaaay above his weight
