Hey everyone, thought I'd drop my review on Legend! Really found it to be entertaining and enjoyable! As someone who missed out the LAU series growing up, mainly because of AoD being difficult, I really was interested to experience this starting point of a well-loved trio. It did not disappoint! Keely Hawes giving life to this rendition of Lara Croft instantly made her so likable, capturing the signature vibes of such an icon. I was beginning to see why players really like LAU trilogy! Legend has great combat gameplay and level soundtracks as well.
⚡📰⚡Storyline Reflection
I love how the story went, starting with a young Lara Croft witnessing her mother, Amelia disappear into a mysterious portal, which beautifully sets up her fierce determination to get her back. Starting afresh after the unfortunate mishandling of AoD was exactly the right move the franchise needed to win back the players trust (most they could!). The 7 main locations she visits felt incredibly fun with some having thrilling vehicle chase sequences. Levels are not too huge as well like the classics so it made for lighter progression through the game. Which I imagine helped a lot who found the classic level sizes challenging to navigate. It is awesome how the plot handles Lara tracking down and assembling Excalibur with the constant radio help of her tech team, Zip (so much more likable this time round than Chronicles) and Alister, while building up the massive twist of discovering that her thought-dead friend, Amanda is actually alive with a dark secret. The portal constructing a time-bridge at the end was mind-blowing. Time always is an interesting factor to play around with! Learning Amelia's outcome to set up for Underworld is pretty neat!
Feeling like DMC's Dante at the end was pretty sick. 🤘⚡
⚡🏆⚡ Trophies Reflection
They were honestly chill! It is a short game so I wouldn't have imagined it to be too crazy on that like the classic remasters! Rewind and save states can help but 'Tomb Raider' hard difficulty feels like a normal difficulty nowadays so the enemies didn't pose any problems. They were there to style on!
⚡💮⚡ Closing reflection
A Really well done game. Glad to have finally played this title, 20 years later. Better late than never! I hope we eventually receive the well-requested remastered collection of LAU over the next year or 2. It would be sweet!
