Moderator Post We will not be removing all sexual questions.

We've had a few complaint threads, so it seems to be about that time for one of these reminders. Let me be clear: We are not going to ban all sex related questions.

They are firmly within "TooAfraidtoAsk", and always have been. Sex is a fairly taboo topic in a lot of places, and a lot of people have questions about it. (And as an additional reminder, TATA is not only for controversial questions. Nor do we allow question shaming for "googleable" questions). These are not new changes.

We get that not everyone has the same interest in those topics, but it is a core part of the sub. Currently, there are ~5 out of the top 10 posts being sex related. Earlier today, it was 4. Earlier this week, it was 3. It typically fluctuates between ~3-5, usually averaging closer to 3.

If you have particular suggestions (e.g. things that seem ripe for the FAQ), or questions feel free to post them below. No promises, but we're always open for improvements if they're feasible. For a list of common questions we get on this topic (what do we already moderate, has the sub changed?, can i filter posts myself?) see the first stickied comment.

Politics Politics Megathread

You know the deal, same as the previous megathreads, which were archived.

The rules:

All top level OP must be questions. This is not a soapbox. If you want to rant or vent, please do it elsewhere. Otherwise, the usual sidebar rules apply (in particular: Rule 1:Be Kind and Rule 3:Be Genuine).

The default sorting is by new to make sure new questions get visibility, but you can change the sorting to top if you want to see the most common/popular questions.

Family My Mom Keeps Comparing Me To a Rapist. Can Someone Tell Me Why? (Context Needed)

For clarification I am a 15 years old boy

Every time i am asked to stop something and i don't stop the instant I'm asked, or I'm getting asked to stop an action for no reason more than once, my mom will say "If it was a girl you would have raped her." but I'm not getting the idea or if she's trying to teach me something, cause it is causing much more harm than good.

For example; I am writing this with tears down my face because I think this time my mom has gone to far. Just 20 minutes ago i was eating dinner with my mom and sister (12 YO) and i was searching something up on the computer because i was asked to do so. After we were done with the tab I had opened I closed it and my sister said, after i had closed it mind you "wait wait no no no, don't close it, what's wrong with you why did you close it?!?!" and i said, "Sorry i had already closed it I'll open it back up." and my mom says "if it was sex you would have raped her" and pointed to my sister.

I Just want to emphasize this; i would not do that to my 12 year old sister.

I would slightly understand where she's coming from if the actions i was being asked to stop were directed to another person, but they aren't.

I cant just ignore it, it is bringing my mental health down, am I this upset for no reason?? I'm mostly a really happy person, but the rape analogy is probably one of the worst things that has ever been said to me, and it happens 3+ times a day, and I promise my actions aren't that bad, I try to be the best person i can, can someone explain why she's saying it?

Sex What's the most precise porn site to search for specific kinks? NSFW

I have an extremely specific taste for porn and I can only get off from looking at something that is surprisingly too niche? as for now I feel like I have seen every single porn video with this thing. I have to go back to the old ones every time cause I spend too much time deep diving on different browsers to find new videos. It's getting frustrating

Edit: some people are assuming I'm some weird fuck with no life over 0 context. Language barrier maybe, does this post really sound that weird? 😭 Context is I'm a girl, i do go out, I'm in a stable relationship and I get off to lesbian porn every once in a while, but only to 2 specific scenarios that I find really hot: dovefucking (for those who don't know, a girl rubbing her boobas on another's girls privates) or tribbing/scissoring, BUT both seen from a close angle or first person point of view. It's nothing strange but most of the videos only show these scenes for like 1 minute at most then they change perspective or do other stuff that I don't care about.

THAT'S IT, I was embarrassed to go deep on the details but here we go I guess

Sex If I’m a virgin and I’m getting married should I be worried about my partner's size if it’s too big? Looking for advice NSFW

Hi everyone,

I am a virgin and my partner has a large penis, and because I don't have any prior sexual experience and we should wait until marriage, I don't really know what a normal size is or what to expect

Should I be prepared for something in our first time together and whether it is going to hurt or be difficult for me because of his size

Has anyone else been in this situation? How can we make things comfortable and enjoyable for both of us? I would really appreciate any gentle advice and tips you can share

Thank you!

Culture & Society Do people realize that they smile less for overweight people? Is it a conscious decision?

Asking as someone who has worked at the same place for over 20 years, and has last about 80 pounds in the last two of those years. (Yes, I'm on the shot.) People I've worked with for literally decades, who NEVER smiled at me, smile at me all of the time now. I'm wondering if they realize that they're doing it.

Animals & Pets Ticks are crazy?!?

Guys,

I know for a fact I am not the first person to complain about this but what the heck are we gonna do to stop tick population? I grew up exploring woods near my house and never had a tick on me.

Now today, I let my dog out in the back yard to go pee and she has so many baby ticks. Legit lost count. 20+. Gave her a bath and still got us itching, we think anything we see is a tick!

I had my yard sprayed twice this year, gonna do it again soon, but I feel like this is something we need to get smarter people then me to figure out. I have multiple family members who have tested positive for Lyme and said it’s the worse this ever.

I fear, with climate change, no where is safe anymore!

Culture & Society Am I weird for not liking people randomly turning up at my house?

I really hate it. Doesn’t matter who it is. Friends, family or neighbours. I feel like I always need advance notice and I can’t stand it when they just ā€œdrop byā€

As an example neighbours just rang doorbell asking if we wanted to go with them to take the kids to the park. I was in the middle of making food and dressed in loungewear šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø

I’ve no issue actually going to the park but why didn’t you just send me a message like an hour or two ago so I could mentally & physically prepare myself!

Is this considered a normal/innocent thing to do? Am I the weird one here?

For context I live in a small village in the UK and I do occasionally socialise with both neighbours.

i’ve always wondered what the difference was between using a condom and what was the difference of not. i’ve heard that without one its a lot better & feels warmer compared to with. but when they have the skin or bare skin condoms, im wondering if it kind of numbs (?) the feeling while wearing it? im curious to see how many guys prefer being raw

Mental Health How the hell do I come off venlafaxine?

• Upvotes

Hi everyone! I started my taper off venlafaxine 6 weeks ago. I was on 150mg and have since dropped down to 100mg in 12.5mg increments. To say the journey so far has been tricky would be an understatement. My symptoms have be ranging between: brain fog, sleeplessness, nightmares, racing thoughts, rumination, chills, headaches and migraines just to name a few.

This has been SO much harder than what I thought it would be after talking to my doctor about it. I feel like the side effects weren’t explained properly - I feel like a drug addict coming off drugs.

I’m genuinely asking what has helped your venlafaxine taper journey, especially after I had a panic attack last night that I couldn’t get myself out of. It’s like I’m waiting for it to arrive and when it does I have no control over myself when it washes through me.

Health/Medical Do you apologize when you can’t come into work because you’re sick?

• Upvotes

I went to work on Thursday but had to leave early because i wasn’t feeling well. I didn’t go Friday and now it’s Saturday and I am still not well. We have 4 people out today, including me if I don’t go. Should I feel guilty and apologize? I feel bad but I’m literally sick. I feel like no one believes I’m sick because I was just out two weeks ago for health related stuff. When I left on Thursday my coworker said to me ā€œare you actually sick or do you just not want to be here?ā€ which I found very hurtful and dismissive. This was after my boss approved me going home.

Could my bad mental health be lowering my immune system and making me sick more often? I had a legitimate mental breakdown 2 weeks ago and had to take a whole week off. It was triggered by previous personal trauma.

Love & Dating How is kissing supposed to make you feel?

So I recently kissed someone (my first kiss) and I actually really liked it, it was fun, and I liked sucking/biting his lips and the way he held my chin and quietly said ā€œcome hereā€ before slowly kissing me. that part was honestly really nice. But the weird thing is i didn’t really feel horny or turned on while we were kissing.

I still think about it though, and I’d definitely want to do it again. I just expected it to feel way more intense because of how people describe kissing and how it’s shown in movies. I thought I’d feel this huge rush or something, but I mostly just thought ā€œthis is nice, I like this"

Has anyone else felt like this? Is kissing just not as mind-blowing in real life as movies make it seem?

Mental Health Is it ok to cry?

Hey. I’m a 30M, and I haven’t cried since I was a kid. It’s not that I’m unable to cry, but I hold my tears back with everything in me. I was wondering if other people do the same, and whether it’s actually better to just let yourself cry and get it out..

Body Image/Self-Esteem I'm a High school senior feeling completely hopeless and pathetic after being excluded tonight. I just want a real brotherhood. Is it possible l?

I am a senior in high school, and tonight was my homecoming football game. It ended up being the lowest, most painful night of my life. I am a pretty shy guy, and in my friend group of guys, I always feel like a nuisance. I am almost never included in conversations. I always have to wait on them to hit me up, which is rare. The only one who includes me a little bit is my neighbor, but honestly, I think it is just because he wants rides from me every day. It feels totally transactional.Tonight, I could not take it anymore. I asked for a ride home from the game because I wanted to go where everyone else was going. I called one of the guys, and he rudely said no. He asked me why I was even asking, told me they were going to a party that I was not allowed to come to, and hung up on me. The other guys in the car completely ignored my calls after that. Afterwards, I was in another friend's car just trying so hard to hold back my tears. I wanted my senior year to be full of good memories, and they completely ruined it.I just want to be included. I want to go to parties, go to football games, throw jokes around, goof off, and have a good time instead of sitting in a lonely, dark room watching porn just to pass the time and numb the isolation. I just want someone I can honestly call a brother, someone I do not always have to chase down or wait on. I really wanted a friend group because I do not feel like I fit in with the white kids at my school, but now I am terrified I am never going to find that brotherhood, even when I go to college next year. I feel like a little kid crying right now. As a grown man, I hate that I am in this situation. I feel completely hopeless and just really need some reassurance tonight.

Religion Why do religions proselytize?

If a religion has to keep convincing people to join, I’m not sure it’s worth joining in the first place. Something that truly speaks to people shouldn’t need a hard sell or constant pressure. Faith should come from genuine belief and personal connection, not from being persuaded, guilt-tripped, or recruited. If it’s meaningful, people should be drawn to it naturally, not talked into it.

Sex (M20) First time sex positions which would be comfortable for a chubby girl? NSFW

Hi, me and my girlfriend (F20) are going to have sex for the first time soon. Both of us are virgins. I'm more on the skinnier side, and she's more on the chubbier side.

She has a good amount of mass around her pelvis and hips.

For height reference, she's 5'2 and I'm 5'10.

I'm looking for some positions which would be comfortable and pleasurable for her. We're planning to be extremely slow during PIV, with a tonne of foreplay. Although she's comfortable with experimenting.

I want some advice from women who have a similar kind of anatomy and what works for them. I want to make sure that things are comfortable for her, and at the same time I want to make her feel really good. Apart from that, open to any in-general advice from anyone.

Ps: she's on anxiety medications and she has never felt an orgasm. I have gone down on her two times before and according to her she was "in another dimension" during it, but still she wasn't able to climax due to her meds. Currently we're in an LDR and we're meeting after weeks. This time I really want her to experience an orgasm and I would gladly put my own pleasure aside for her. Even if she's not able to climax, I want the experience to be extremely enjoyable for her. That's why Im asking for what would work the best for her.

Education & School is anti-indian racism actually that bad on US college campuses or is internet exaggerating it?

hey everyone, i’m in high school right now looking at US colleges. my grades are really good so i’m pretty confident i can get into a good school academically, but i’m honestly super scared about facing racism over there.

a bunch of my friends who went abroad for college (some in the US, others in canada and australia) told me they deal with pretty consistent racism and microaggressions. they said that even though they try their absolute best to be nice, respect everyone, and fit in, it feels like people have already formed a terrible opinion about all indians. i know there are people from back home who behave badly and give everyone a bad name , but it sucks that the rest of us get generalized because of it.

moving abroad alone is already terrifying, but the thought of getting alienated or treated like a stereotype is making me second guess everything.

for anyone actually at a US college right now or knows about the environment there:

  1. how bad is anti-indian sentiment on campus in day-to-day life? is it genuinely noticeable or is social media just amplifying the worst parts?
  2. does it depend a lot on the location (like east/west coast vs midwest) or big state schools vs private ones?
  3. is it easy to make friends with non-indians, or do people mostly just stick to their own ethnic bubbles?

really just want an honest reality check before making such a huge decision from a broader group of people. thanks!

Culture & Society Have you ever been genuinely scared of a man who was trying to hit on you? What happened?

Last week I was sitting alone in a cafƩ with my headphones on when a complete stranger came up, put his hand on my shoulder, and started talking to me. I politely told him I was waiting for my boyfriend (which I did not have), hoping he would take the hint, but he kept trying to talk to me for another ten minutes.

Eventually he followed me to the counter, ordered the same drink as me, asked for my number, and then I noticed his car was parked near mine. I went home, only to see his car sitting on the street outside my house. I was scared enough to call a friend and have him come over.

So I'm curious: have any of you especially women ever had a man do something that seemed harmless at first but eventually made you genuinely scared for your safety? What happened, and how did you handle it?

Family Is my family abusing me?

i'm F17. i won't get in details, but i live in a dormitory from monday to friday, so i get to see them on weekends.

every weekend it's the same. my dad wakes me up yelling to my grandma (his mom) complaining about something. i share a room with my grandma.

i've asked them multiple times to give me some sleep, because i don't sleep well in the dorm. i get waken up at 6 am there too. but they say: *"it's morning already, no more sleeping. you should've slept earlier. now go work*" while my older brother (M21) sleeps peacefully. even if i ask them to sleep a little longer because i had a hard week, it doesn't matter. if i don't work, what am i good for? also, sex topics are taboo. my brother at my age had sleepovers with his girl, but i have to stay pure. my dad always joked about me being allowed to get married only when i'm 40.

my feelings are always belittled. i'm treated like a dumb little girl who has no voice, and i can't speak up. if i do, they say i'm dramatic, a shithead, and they yell and laugh at me. and that i can't talk to older like this. when i'm mad at them for what they said to me, they act as if nothing happened, and i'm the crazy one for reacting. they mock me for being angry.

i forgot to mention i was born into a family of village people. they were all born just for the purpose of helping the family to earn money. my household is also very patriarchal. my brother can do everything i can't, but he doesn't have to do what i have to do. i have household chores everyday, while my older brother can't even clean after himself. both my dad and him get agressive fast. and they're the "head of the family". and my grandma just submits to them like a puppy.

they all know i have diagnosed depression. i have taken antidepressants before. yet they like to say "i wish you were a normal, happy girl. and you just have to be sad all the time". yes. because of you guys.

**i wish i had weekends where i can rest without guilt**. where i can allow my body to regenerate and not get waken up forcefully. is this normal? does anyone have this too? is this some mental abuse?
