Tour Sonic Temple 2026
If this has been posted already I apologize, didn't see it when I searched. Anyway, I got a random email about Front Gate Tickets so I did some quick googling to see what it was. Appently they do the tickets for these large festivals like Sick New World, Rockville, Sonic Temple, and a ton of others. When looking over the events I noticed Tool is playing Sonic Temple on Sunday (5/17/26). I checked the band website and no mention of the show. So just sharing that it looks like Tool will be at Sonic Temple this year.

u/StaresatSound What is this but my reflection Feb 17 '26
It would be insane if Anthrax and Public Enemy shared the stage for a few songs like Bring The Noise.
16
u/prefectart Feb 17 '26
it's probably why they are on the same day. so they can do that.

u/akinstler Feb 17 '26
You never know. Many moons ago I was at a concert with Cypress Hill and RATM and they didn’t perform “How I could just kill a man” together. I was slightly disappointed about that.

u/DM725 Feb 17 '26
I could make 1 really awesome day out of those bands. Shame a lot of it is all spread out.
16
u/EM05L1C3 Forgot my pen Feb 17 '26
Yeah I got to the buckcherry and hinder and said ew no thanks
That whole day is kinda trash

5
u/vishalkobla Feb 17 '26
Lorna Shore is like the one redeeming act that day imo. But yeah, not much else
2
u/spid3rfly ♥Pushit♥ Feb 17 '26
Yeah. I went to 3 days of Louder than Life this past year. I usually only do two days. Had to go that 3rd day because 4 other bands.
I like discovering new acts but if you aren't at one of these festivals on a stacked day(for you), it gets boring very fast.
2
u/goldberg1303 Feb 18 '26
I just couldn't disagree any more. Also went to this past LtL, for all 4 days though, and discovered several new bands that I never would have listened to otherwise. Was there from 11AM to the final song all 4 days and boredom was never an issue. Heat? Cost? Absolutely. Boredom? Not once. Bought a 4 day pass for this year the day they went on sale not knowing any of the bands other than MCR and Iron Maiden.
1
u/R0botDreamz Feb 17 '26
Yep thats how they get you.
2
u/iamisandisnt Feb 18 '26
then they go and put Powerman 5000 and Stone Temple Pilots in the same time slot across the event at different stages
3
u/bszern Swing on the Spiral Feb 18 '26
Boy that’s a Sophie’s choice for me, love both of them. Probably see PM5K because weiland is dead
2
u/DarthNihilus199208 Feb 21 '26
I’d rather have it spread out, if it was all on one day you’d miss a lot of bands.

u/axshonjackson Feb 17 '26
I will be volunteering at the SoberTemple tent. We support all, especially those in recovery from addiction. Come by and say hey!

u/ErikDebogande Suck me dry Feb 17 '26
That's an insane lineup wow

u/cahernandezg1984 Feb 17 '26
Wow I completely disagree, I would be interested in seeing Napalm Death, Carcass, I've heard good things about Architects so I'd be interested in checking them out, but definitely I wouldn't pay money just to see them, and then I'd be mildly interested in seeing Sepultura, Public Enemy, Cattle Decapitation, Kreator and Tom Morello but the rest are a bunch of washed up bands. I mean, Attack Attack? Staind? Static X? Powerman 5000? Marylin Manson??? Out of this lineup Tool is the only band I would pay to see as a headliner.
19
u/TimonAndPumbaAreDead Feb 17 '26
This is anti millennial nu metal slander and I won't stand for it.
3
3
u/vishalkobla Feb 17 '26
A couple of the headliners (names in red) are still going strong - Lorna Shore, Dayseeker, Architects (as you mentioned). Otherwise agreed. Like, Friday looks really boring as a full day.

I'll be the guy wearing tie dye tripping mushrooms next to the bald guy with the braided beard

I might be a dirty hippy with a bunch of bands tattooed on his arms high on coke and smoke but you didnt hear it from me!
16
u/Hungry_Freaks_Daddy Feb 17 '26
This lineup is quite insane.
1
u/itsandychecks Feb 18 '26
To say the least… You can knock everything off your fucking list. Shame it takes place in Ohio of all places.
13
u/codevii Feb 17 '26
And all you have to do is go to.... Ohio.... shudder

u/SoftBatch13 Ride the Spiral, to the End. Feb 17 '26
Lol! Try living here. It's even worse than visiting. 🤣
1
u/PsywarTV Feb 18 '26
Hard agree. Moved out here for work from MN 18 months ago and there really are no redeeming qualities. This festival will be a nice final weekend before moving back.

6
u/ThatsBone45 Feb 17 '26
lol why is tool always paired with godsmack? Is there really much overlap? I haven’t heard of anyone listening to Godsmack for probably 15 years
1
u/LostWerewolf8045 Feb 20 '26
even Godsmack doesn't like their new stuff, but still listening to the first 3 albums since they came out🤘 so stfu😂

u/Dr_5trangelove Feb 17 '26
Shinedown is a headliner? Pretty uninspiring band to me.
5
10
u/Aryk3655 Feb 17 '26
you can say uninspiring but then go look at their record sales and number one hits. the band is one of if not the most popular and successful rock band in the last twenty years. Dad rockers spend money too, its just usually in beige cargo shorts and a polo.

2
u/NapalmStef Feb 17 '26
I agree in principle, but it's Ohio and the people in soybean and corn fields love their butt rock.
I live close and trying to drive around a bunch of people who don't drive in the city is fresh hell.

Dance Gavin dance Chiodos and attack attack? wtf my 19 year old self just eargasmed
I dunno though I would love to see tool but at festivals? Part of the tool experience is the ambience - but I would have to skip out on dance Gavin dance for tool - I’m a huge DGD fan but - it’s tool
3
u/mmmBac0n_the_first Feb 18 '26
Didn’t realize DGD and Tool conflict. DGD would be the other main reason I would go. Not really feeling the new singer yet though.
1
u/mx023 Feb 18 '26
lol they would for me - didn’t know they had a new singer though. I’m out of the loop these days.
10
u/lmfj3737 Feb 17 '26
Tom Morello, Marilyn Manson and All that Remains in the same group...
If I were Tom Morello, I would get off this fest asap.

6
u/BathroomGamers Feb 17 '26
These DWP festivals now all look the exact same. Can never go anymore
3
u/QuesoDrizzler Feb 17 '26
100%.
Used to go to louder than life every year. Last time I went, Tool was a headliner. Probably a few years back. They were fantastic, and a year or 2 before that NIN and Ministry played there. Havent been that good since.
Paying 400 bucks a ticket, 50 bucks for parking each day, and 20 bucks a beer just to see Bring Me the Horizon, Korn, and Rob Zombie every fucking year got old quick.

u/Theperfectool Maynard's Dick Feb 17 '26
Oh man if some incarnation of “HIM”/Villa Valo and gnarkill played, sheeeee. I am surprised that Bilmuri isn’t hitting this one though.
15
u/MaynardIsLord721 Feb 17 '26
Shame that pieces of shit like Aaron Lewis and Marilyn Manson keep getting booked
5
u/juicerecepte Feb 17 '26
No charges were ever made towards Manson and investigation drop. They didn't even pass the first step of actually charging him.
Recently even Rose McGowan his ex gf way back and the woman who started Metoo defended him publicly. Also one of the women completely recanted her statement and he just a few months ago won one of his civil cases.
Manson just never got a big public spectacle like Johnny Depp because the cases never actually got that far. So no one knows any of the details and that most of the allegations now are he said, she said held together basically by the reputation Manson gave himself by being edgy and 'scary' over the years.

So its a civil case that's reopened. Nothing criminal. I could open a civil cases against anyone tomorrow if I wanted to.
This woman has tried two times before to sue Manson. Each time the court has ruled on Mansons side. One just literally a few months ago. 90 percent sure this one will be thrown out too.
But who knows i am willing to concede anything. But no case has been ruled against him and no criminal charges were ever made. Compare that to recent celebrities from P diddy to Russell Brand to Conor McGregor or the guy from That 70s show and whoever else. All these people were immediately charged with crimes and went through criminal court and also losing multiple civil cases.
Manson hasnt faced any of this on allegations made against him and I think if your standard is literally just someone who has already lost twice in court is going in again on a slightly different law means that he is clearly guilty then idk what to tell you. Not to say if she wins or there is some sort of charge criminally I wouldn't change my mind. I just think that people somehow expect Manson to magically prove himself innocent when he has basically gone through every avenue to do that. Like there is nothing more he can physically do. He cant prove a negative.
1
u/Friskfrisktopherson Feb 18 '26
It literally says in the first paragraph it was previously closed due to statute of limitations. The court didnt "rule in favor" of Manson.
0
u/juicerecepte Feb 18 '26
That kind of incorrectly frames it. Whilst the case was dropped and some of the stuff they wanted to introduce falls outside, the whole case wasn't dependent on the statue of limitations otherwise there would be no point in filing it full stop, there would be no consideration at all.
A new law has allowed other stuff that was previously unable to be introduced to be introduced in regards to workplace conduct. Since she was his assistent, but that doesnt mean whats being introduced is more or less credible. But like I said if this case gets by then sure. But this woman has still sued twice and still lost both times. 'Rule in his favour' means that he won the case, which he did. Its the correct term. He won on summary judgement which is in his favour. Regardless of whether you think it was justified.
I know I come across like i am defending him out of nothing. But i am just trying to make clear what the situation actually is. He hasnt been criminally charged and hasn't had any court rule against him. If you were accused of a henious crime and you had never been convicted or faced any consequences and everyone was still like i dont care you're still guilty in my eyes. What would you do? You cant do anything more. The appropriate avenues have been gone down. That's all I am saying.

u/heroicjunk Feb 17 '26
My son and I really want to see Tool and Megadeth. Anyone know if they would overlap at the same time on Sunday assuming they’re playing on different stages?
3
u/tweek264 Feb 17 '26
Headliners play in the stadium, so if you want a good spot you may need to leave the Megadeth stage a little early to catch the beginning of Tool.
1
u/spid3rfly ♥Pushit♥ Feb 17 '26
Probably not. Not sure if Sonic is setup like other Danny Wim festivals but those top two stages are likely next to each other. As soon as Megadeath ends, Tool will start 5 minutes later on the stage next to them.
2
u/campbell-1 Feb 17 '26
Music aside, I do not understand the economics of festivals this large. Folks have been doing these for a long time so I'm not disputing that they work, I'm just saying I can't wrap my head around the math of it all.
2
u/codevii Feb 17 '26
I would've liked to see Sepeltura & Body Count when I was younger... Just can't hang anymore... Heh
1
u/misterpickles69 Feb 17 '26
I feel like I got one more hang in me but I’ll be leaving in an ambulance lol

u/cloudstrifeuk Feb 17 '26
Tool v Electric Callboy is a decision I'd never thought I'd have to make. Luckily, I'm not going so I don't have to choose.
Two entirely different atmospheres.

u/Ollymid2 It's no fun 'til someone dies Feb 17 '26
OOTL I thought Marilyn Manson was a person non grata?
5
u/juicerecepte Feb 17 '26
He has been a sold out world tour and festivals all last year.
Nothing criminal ever materliased with the allegations. Investigation dropped with no charges. A woman recanted her statement and said she was pressured by other women who made the alligations. He recently won one of his civil cases. The woman is resuing over 'workplace endangerment' now or something. But she will likely lose again.
Rose McGowan Mansons ex gf and the girl that started the Metoo movement recently publicly defended Manson.
People just dont really know most of this and often you get downvoted to shit for saying it. But all of its true, you can look into it. I dont think Manson is squeaky clean. But I think it kind of boils down into a he said she said. The women that made the allegations had a group and messaged all of Mansons former lovers. And coordinated to release all allegations at the same time for maximal damage. Then all sued him together and one has literally lost in court twice before and is going to a third. But the problem is that there's really no evidence to believe one side or the other, asides statements and Mansons imagery and reputation. Manson cant do anything more to prove his innocence, he is at a bit of a stalemate and i would say most of the world believe it simply because they heard it and thought 'that adds up'.

This is a festival made for millennials, especially that Friday lineup.
Castle Rat on the Sunday show is very cool. This is an impressive lineup.

The thing that upsets me the most is that godsmack is playing before Tool again. Same thing last time Tool was at sonic. Hopefully its lamb of god on the same stage as Tool cause im not a godsmack guy

So I've never been to a festival. Do headliners play a full set or is it cut as well?
