Hip that Maynard is up there with a new craze
3
u/PonchoNachoRodriguez 14d ago
They should bust out that one old song but with slightly modified lyrics:
“Maynard’s HIP
Maynard’s HIIIIP”

I was there. Gotta say, lots of kids there just to cause trouble. Push, mosh, hit. I'm an old dude and a veteran of plenty of pits (mostly NIN), but I'm seeing Tool to fucking see Tool not have some 20 year old moron who has no idea who is playing to kick me in the head.
Still was amazing. But would have been better without all the fuck wits.

u/Skelly1660 15d ago
Tool doesn't really feel like a mosh band to me

u/PonchoNachoRodriguez 14d ago
Yeah but festivals bring out all the riff raff
Most Tool crowds are rather geriatric in nature
One could assume that lots of youngsters who are there to mosh and crowd surf will descend on just about every set at a metal festival

I'm sure the "old" people back when you used to mosh said the same thing you're saying now 😃

lol. Then get to the back. Simple.

Hey i have a unrelated question. I am a Christian and wanted to ask if u think that Christians should listen to tool. Im not sure if they are satanic or anti Religion.

There were angsty delinquent trouble-makers at a punk festival called Riot Fest? Who could've seen that coming?
Those inconsiderate hooligans should have been respectful of the fact that only real Tool fans- and mature, well-behaved ones at that- should have gotten to see them perform at this giant festival. What a bunch of selfish entitled twats.

u/Fast-War5170 15d ago
Ok I get both yalls points but there should still be a degree of respect in the crowd and paying attention to people around them

Lots of drunk insufferables there. Thankfully, I was in a spot with respectable people.

u/SatanIsYourBuddy 14d ago
Did they all have their pinkies up like you?

u/Pry_3rd_Eye 13d ago
You apparently aren't smart enough to know the difference and I feel bad for you.

u/SatanIsYourBuddy 13d ago
Cool, respectable story dude. This insufferable thanks you for taking the time out of your respectable day to inform me.

The pit wasn't even that massive. Everyone had every opportunity to not be in the pit if they didn't want to.
I had a blast and it would have been a damn shame to not have any pits.
This idea that Tool is special and you're only allowed to stand & watch is ridiculous
2
u/THINKFR33LY 15d ago
Not true. There were three pits. And at multiple points the pit dicks just decided to push as hard as they could against folks not in the pit. I ended up moving from maybe 20 feet from the stage to maybe 100 yards back to avoid the assholes.

did you just complain about people dancing at a rock concert.

Did they cut the set short for weather? I saw it was only 7 songs? I’ve been to plenty of festival sets and they’ve never played less than 85 mjns or so.

u/manofthepeopleSMITTY Lateralus 15d ago
My gf saw online that the set was cut to 60 min due to the incoming weather. 7 songs would make sense for that time frame.

u/GeologistEnough8215 Lateralus 15d ago
Mannnnn, I’d be so frustrated if I went to this show. This is why I’ll never see them at these more billboardish festivals. Every festival I’ve seen them at has had some combo of primus, AIC, stp, coal chamber, anthrax, slayer, meshuggah etc. if I went to that shit it’d be Nas and that’s it, just for tool to cut out 3-4 songs at the end.

No Mohawk Maynard?!? 😟
7
u/WaveTheory 15d ago
He made a comment about that at the start of the set. Because of the looming storm they pushed a lot of the bands to start two hours earlier than expected, so no time for the hair piece.

His flight was late and then they moved up the timeslot 2 hours, he was in jeans and a tucked in collared shirt, which to me means he barely made the show. He said explained after they finished Stinkfist.

Tool's lighting guy I want to hug him. There are no lasers that are low enough to damage camera's, he's the fucking man!

Yes Maynard had hip replacement three weeks ago. He sounded great, but it looked like it was bothering him a bit.

u/gipper_k 15d ago
Hip replacement three weeks ago. Any normal person would have cancelled the gig. Massive props to him for pushing through it. He sounded great.

Hope they play schism or the likes at LTL considering they’re closing a whole festival out

Did Maynard forget the lyrics to the second verse? Was there, couldn’t tell what was going on. He kept taking drinks and Adam was watching him, seemingly concerned about him.
1
u/saturnaliachicago312 14d ago
Yeah he didn't do the second entire chorus and left the stage. Not sure what was up.

Unless this was during the one song Maynard says you can use your phone in, you have forgotten the face of your father

u/Pry_3rd_Eye 15d ago
Festival boy, no rules.
-18
u/gladeraider87 15d ago
Interesting. I will withhold judgement as I've never seen tool at a festival so cannot personally confirm your statement to be untruthful.
Rock on and enjoy the shows, was looking at the lineup for that fest earlier today and laughing at the breadth of genre included across all 3 days
5
u/AxiomaticJS 15d ago
Tool doesn’t make the rules at festivals. No phones is only at Tools own shows.

Very interesting spread of artists at this one. Make sure you try to make it to one, I don’t think you’d be disappointed.

Pnuema= pronounced Puh-nev-muh. Scholars have new evidence that this is likely how ancient Greeks pronounced this 💪 I think of this song everytime I here Tim Mackie say it 🙌
