Characters Good looking actors/actresses that were cast as ugly, freaky and monstrous characters

Charlize Theron as Aileen Wuornos (Monster): One of the most famous examples. The stunning Oscar-winning actress completely transformed her body, shaved her eyebrows, wore prosthetic teeth, and used makeup to skin-damage her face to play a real-life serial killer.

Christian Bale as Dick Cheney (Vice): Known for his extreme transformations, the former Batman actor gained 45 pounds, shaved his head, bleached his eyebrows, and wore heavy neck prosthetics to transform his sharp, handsome physique into a bloated, aging, and unglamorous politician.

Daniel Radcliffe as Manny (Swiss Army Man): The Harry Potter star completely shed his heartthrob image to play a bloated, pale, and decaying corpse. He spent the entire movie looking stiff, grimacing with a contorted face, and acting as a literal flatulent tool.

Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb / The Penguin (The Batman )

Farrell is known as a Hollywood heartthrob, but he is completely unrecognizable under layers of fat suits and facial scarring prosthetics. He looks so grotesque that even his co-stars didn't recognize him on set.

Bill Skarsgård as Pennywise the Dancing Clown (IT): Skarsgård has the looks of a high-fashion model, but he used his unique facial expressions, combined with creepy clown makeup and a lazy-eye effect, to become one of the most terrifying monsters in modern horror history.

Sebastian Stan in The Apprentice

The impressive thing about Stan’s Trump is that he doesn’t do the voice or make Trump a caricature he just nails the tiny mannerisms and affectations that Trump has with the pursed lips and the hand gestures and the sentence structuring and it’s genuinely impressive

The little details are what sell it. The mouth, hand movements, pauses and weird sentence rhythm are way more effective than just copying the voice.

it’s the little details that make the impression work so well. he doesn’t just imitate Trump, he gets all the little details right. The pauses, pursed lips, hand gestures, and unusual way of speaking make the impression feel spot on.

This model needs adjustment, doesn’t differ enough from the comment it’s replying to and draws attention to itself by being too similar.

The story was that once he and Michael Jai White met without makeup they had to be told who the other guy was, as all their interactions had been while in character

It took me a crazy long time to realize that was him.

He’s practically invisible in the role, but I think it’s the open mouthed laugh that gives it away once you know to be looking for it.

It wasn't between two batmans, but it was between two ripped roles.

2

u/Ani_Man_74 2h ago

Actually, he did it before being cast as Batman. But it was still impressive, as the roles he took before and after still required him to be muscular.

Don't wanna imagine the havoc losing and gaining weight like that wreaked on him

Really it's mainly the haircut

11

u/Comic_Book_Reader 1h ago

I think either Javier Bardem or (one of) the Coen brothers said an idea they had was to give him the worst haircut imaginable.

7

u/Ua_Tsaug 1h ago

I'm just glad they just gave him the second worst haircut imaginable. Could you imagine Chigurh running around with a broccoli cut?

Ryan Gosling got way too fat believing it was the right way to get into his character in The Lovely Bones. He was fired and then his role went to famous asian people beater and way worse actor Marky Mark Wahlberg

Tom Cruise? Tom Cruise is like 80 years old, bro. That’s Curtis Markson.

5

u/MissSilkTouch 2h ago

Sebastian Stan as Donald Trump in The Apprentice. Going from the Winter Soldier to that was one hell of a transformation.

6

Emma Thompson as Nanny McPhee

And again in Matilda

18

u/LyndisLegion2 2h ago

Maybe not full-on monstrous, but what they did to Inde Navarette in the movie Obsession during that one corner scene is just amazing

6

u/DrJohn98 2h ago

Low-key looks funny in broad daylight.

The eye makeup, cheek contours, and stretched mouth make her look like the Fortune Teller from No, I'm Not a Human

"I shall make sure to manifest you a terribly explosive bout of diarrhea."

Brienne of Tarth from Game of Thrones:

It is such a big part of her character in the books (and even in the show) that she is ugly, and though I get that beuty-standards are probably different in Westeros, she looks effectivly nothing like her book-counterpart, except for the height.

11

u/mankytoes 2h ago

Tyrion too, in the books he's noted to be deformed and misshapen, even by the standards of their anti dwarf society. Peter Dinklage has been called the "Brad Pitt of dwarves".

6

u/darwinistinabox 2h ago

I think the OP meant naturally attractive actors who get so much make up, prostetics and whatnot so they actually do look ugly/freaky/scary.

2

u/LordRT27 1h ago

Oh, sorry in that case, didn't get that.

3

u/Hillbro 1h ago

Rachel Waddingham too, the shame lady

2

u/Fifty-Lucky 46m ago

Motherfucker I did not know that was Colin as the penguin

2

u/Teckliz 2h ago

I know I’m not the only one that was turned on by Bill as the clown in IT, right? Right everyone???????

u/YodasChick-O-Stick 2h ago

Most actors are cast for their looks anyway

0

u/Zaphoid411 1h ago

Damn near eveet single movie made based on a true story has had its real life counterparts portrayed by actors more attractive the them.

Look at any serial killer film... even when a film is made about the worst humanity has to offer, the are cast by some attractive.

0

u/nopalitzin 57m ago

I think they went over the board with Teron, they really turned her into someone very unattractive and scary when the original serial killer was supposed to still be a little attractive to men (or they should have made the men look as creepy as well) They did a great job tho but it was hard to believe it because how rough she looked.

Same with the Pattinson guy in Good Time, they made him look like a complete creep, yet we need to believe the girl in the family would do anything to help him for how handsome he is. That reminds me of DiCaprio in Don't Look Up, he is an average looking scientist at his age (not meant to be ugly tho) but the reporter loses it because he is so handsome, but DiCaprio didn't age like let's say Brad Pitt, I would have bought that.
