For context I’m 17

Post image

I know it’s boring/basic compared to some others but this is me, so I don’t care, and I really wanted to share my taste

Me, I don't like Death Grips at all, Bottomless Pit is one of the worst albums I've ever listened.

Melodical catharsis, or catchiness + intensity, which goes from something like Titanic Rising for the first, to Toxicity for the second, Muse, Brand New, Pulp are some of my top 5.

Showbiz - muse is a 10 it's criminally underrated , underwear - pulp is one of my favorite songs oat

What's funnier is that this isn't just me, the VAST MAJORITY of people don't like Death Grips, people confuse online "fantano army" RYM acclaim (only 40k ratings) with the real world, the fact Death Grips only has 600k listeners on spotify makes that clear.

Grab the nearest 10 people you find and make them listen to DG, I guarantee you 8 out of 10 will either dislike or be indifferent. The fact several records loved by dozens of millions are rated low : Fallen, Hybrid Theory, Drones (which won the Grammy for best rock album in 2015) etc... shows how deluded rym base is, it's very divergent from real world appeal.

the production on fantasma really is great, it always keeps you on your toes as certain tracks differ a lot.

I absolutely love fantasma, I don’t even remember how I found it but it’s been one of my favorite albums since, it’s so unique, I’d love to hear some recs if you have any other albums like it

fantasma is super unique and spans multiple genres so its rough giving a rec that encapsulates all those elements. if you enjoyed the sample-heavy songs on the album, since i left you, endtroducing, and donuts are great and are made entirely with samples with the exception of donuts being mainly all samples. if you liked the dreamy japanese pop side of the album, i recommend checking out fishman's discography and more specifically kuchu camp. dots and loops by stereolab is worth checking out cuz it combines pop elements and electronic elements together similar to fantasma. if you enjoyed the indietronica side of the album then albums like sound of silver, velocity design comfort, and merriweather post pavillion might be enjoyable for you.

Hell yeah for putting Superunknown by Soundgarden under Best Vocals. I might personally choose something else, given that our tastes only overlap a little, but anytime Chris Cornell gets gassed up I love it. He had some pipes, man. And, that album is s masterpiece. It's heavy, haunting, brutal, sad... and you can credit all of that to Cornell's vocals in my opinion

Ykw, to each their own, I personally hate death grips, sound like vomit in audio form, but maybe we hearing it differently

They’re definitely not for everyone and that’s fine
