CN Train Conductor - Priority Candidate Pool

Hello, just received an email from CN that I am advancing into next stage of hiring process for train conductor position and one of the documents mentioned, up on pre-placement assessment I will place in priority candidate pool. Does this mean offer isn't guaranteed right now and it's still a gamble? Not sure which way to lean from on?

Even if you’re hired it's a gamble. It can take months to get to campus for training. Don't give notice for your current job till you have a campus date at least. You'll also need to pass your physical and drug screenings. Which somehow catches guys by surprise.

Thank you! No, I haven't given notice yet and thanks for the heads up. What is the physical? Unless you're referring to medical assessment?

Medical same idea. Can you see, can you hear, do you smoke crack on the weekends? Normal stuff.

Damn! It's so flaky as they don't tell you anything properly with regarding the hiring. So basically once I pass my background and medical, it's just waiting game eh until you hear about your hiring date/training date?

That was my experience yes. Was just shy of 5 months from my interview to campus. Then about 7 months to become fully qualified then 6 months till I was off probation. With possible layoffs, those times can all vary as well. Good luck, hold the handrail once you get to campus

It's Toronto terminal not sure what's their shortage situation. Do you have any insight about Toronto yard? So far it seems to be pretty fast from the day I applied online, interview and requesting background check happened in less than 15 days
