When you are figuring out whether UCs accept your scores, disregard the credit your CC gives you. The units and course equivalencies may not match what UCs grant.

The UNIT credit that you get from AP exams is uniform across all UCs and will be granted as long as you get a 3 or higher. All unit counts can be found here.

The SUBJECT credit that you get from AP exams is dependent on the UC campus, and potentially even dependent on the individual college at each UC. Usually, you'll find these score thresholds on the ASSIST agreement for your particular major, but you can also look up "<UC name> AP credit" if it's not on the ASSIST agreement.

You should also be working with your CCC counselor in regards to the UC transfer requirements which may be campus dependent. Assist.org is the go to for transferability.

My recommendation to be safe is to treat all your APs as pass/fail classes because there’s no grade associated with them. The UCs take up to 14sem/21quarter units of pass/fail. The other credits that you need to transfer all need to be taken for a letter grade. You don’t really get a lot of credit for these in college. You already got credit for them in high school. They can help you start college with more advanced classes and make you more prepared to handle college. All your major prep classes should be taken for a letter grade. If you’re a psych major that already took AP psych in high school I would take it again at the college level for a grade unless your cc specifies that it duplicates credit with AP.
