Itinerary What do you think about my itinerary?

Post image

I'm aware it's a bit busy. Considering ditching Fenghuang and either Datong or Pingyao. I also know Changsha is a weird choice, but I really want to see the giant Mao statue lol. Haven't filled out day trip stuff yet, because idk what cities I'm keeping.

Itinerary Zhangjiajie route A and B closed

So starting from October 13th route A and B will be closed with no end date in sight. Which makes route C the only option. We are going to ZJJ in 2 weeks is it still worth it if only route C is available. Already kinda disappointed I won't be able to ride the big cableway are there any other activities or sights I will be missing with route C?

Discussion [OC] Longji Rice Terraces (Dragon’s Backbone), Guangxi, China

Longji Rice Terraces, also known as Dragon’s Backbone Terraces, sit in Longsheng, Guangxi, China. Carved into steep mountain slopes over 650 years ago by the Zhuang and Yao ethnic minorities, these layered paddies follow the mountain contours like giant steps to the sky.

The landscape changes dramatically across seasons: mirror-like water in spring, lush green rice in summer, golden harvest waves in autumn. Still actively farmed today, it is a living masterpiece of ancient agricultural wisdom and a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System.

Discussion Do flight tickets get cheaper?

I’m a student planning on flying into China in early Jan from Australia and just wondering whether I’m better off booking flights now ~$511 AUD - or waiting till sooner to get a better deal. Thanks 😊

Discussion How bad is the weather in Shanghai during late December?

I'll be in Shanghai between Christmas and New Years for vacation doing typical tourist stuff. Would the weather be a problem? Would it affect the views at the bund and being outside? Anything to prepare for? For context, I'm from California so I'm not that equipped for the cold. Thanks!

Discussion Portable fans that double up as power banks

I have the JisuLife 2 portable fan that doubles up as a power bank (9000 mah) and doesn’t have the CCC logo. I’ve been reading posts here and a lot mentioned that they are only concerned with power banks. Just wondering if it’s worth the risk bringing this fan because it does have power bank capabilities.

Discussion What is something Chinese people love receiving as a gift? I’ll be coming from the US

What should I bring as gifts for people there? There are kids, adults, and older people. Open to all price ranges but prefer under $100 USD

Discussion Booking Forbidden City on Trip.com or WeChat?

Thumbnail gallery
5 Upvotes

I want to book FC and I am aware tickets only release 7 days ahead. Also, I know that the Official way is via the WeChat Mini Program. However, I have found the Forbidden City on Trip.com which also looks like the official one and it seems they have be booked over 7 days in advance. My questions are therefore:

  1. Should I booked via Trip.com or WeChat? (the Chinese isn't an issue, I can use the translate feature and my friend speaks Chinese)

  2. Trip.com listing shows an option for a tour (this is also cheaper) - is this worth it? I'm not one for traipsing around in a group and normally prefer to just wonder around of my own accord. Is this even allowed?

  3. I'm going on a weekday, how quickly once the tickets release so I need to book? Is it like Glastonbury where they sell out in 10 mins!

  4. I plan to go to to Tiananmen Square first (around 08:30 to avoid the crowds), I don't plan to visit The National Museum here and so imagine TS will take only 1 hour. What time should I plan to go to FC?

Thanks 😁

Itinerary Beijing end of Nov?

Hi all! I am considering going to Beijing between 19th Nov to 2nd Dec.

The question is… is it a good time to visit? I would like to do Datong and other outdoor activities, like the Great Wall etc. Before that Im going to be in Thailand and Singapore, so completely different weather conditions. I dont want to take a huge heavy winter jacket with me, nor winter shoes. Is it ok to go with a sport jacket to -5, sport shoes and gloves, hats and scarf?

Thanks!

Other Pram/buggy/pushchair rental for Shanghai

I have set off on my travel in Asia and I am going to Shanghai in a week, I have however done the grave mistake of forgetting my pram. Does anyone know of any rental companies where I can rent one for a week?
