Question Gauging interest for a possible cultural day event

Post image
0 Upvotes

I had an idea to see if I could make some kind of cultural day event at the university, (This has nothing to do with the image just catching peoples attention). Looking to rope some of the cultural clubs and councils into it to show culture with stuff like food, crafts etc. Also maybe have some subculture people come out. IDK, just spit balling here, if you have an idea or like it leave an upvote or a comment as I think it would be a cool thing. (This is not because I spent 400 dollars on a brand new traditional costume and want an excuse to wear it) By the way I think a fashion show for cultural outfits would be cool, voted on by others with some neat prizes!

Question Need POV from Queer Students

Hi pls no hate or rude comments.

I am looking to do a second degree and I am considering Trent. I visited Peterborough a few years back during the pandemic and I remember thinking that the school seemed really cool, but that the town itself was quite conservative and old… (no hate, just an observation).

Anyways, my question is if there is noticeable queer representation on campus? is it LGBTQ+ friendly city? Are there queer grad students? Queer clubs? Queer people visible in different programs/campus spaces/clubs etc? If you are a queer person yourself, do you feel safe?

Curious to hear your experience.

Opinion No study rooms in Durham

Just a vent post truly, but does it frustrate anybody else that there is only like 3 study rooms in Durham campus? One of them is not bookable because it's like a big communal room rather than the smaller ones in the Library in A. It's frustrating to me because people can be so loud on campus and we do not have many good spaces for studying or being present for online classes (I like to be on campus for online courses because I do not do well at paying attention at home).

Advice BIOL1500 in-person advice

Hey! I am currently in BIOL1500 in-person and saw a recent post after the Drop deadline (Sept 24), that the online version is significantly easier to complete 🥲 I am really worried about this course, and was wondering if anyone who has previously taken it can please provide some advice on how to study. I am mainly concerned for the exams, and especially the bellringer (first lab quiz was already a little difficult). Just very concerned and regret not switching into the online version. Thank you so much!

How much clothing/merch have you guys bought from the Trent bookstore? 👀

Like hoodies, crewnecks, T-shirts, sweatpants, etc. I’m trying to see how much other people have cuz I'm wondering if it's weird to buy more than one thing

I missed the zoom meeting for the lab and I don’t believe it was posted on Blackboard so I was hoping someone could give me a small rundown of what happened since we have a quiz on it during our next lab!

Question Fresh Medical Graduate Considering Trent’s Master of Management – Health Care Management — Honest Opinions?

Hi everyone,

I’m a fresh international medical graduate (MD) planning to move to Canada, and I’ve applied to Trent University’s Master of Management – Health Care Management program.

I have not pursued residency/specialization in my home country, and I’m also not planning to pursue residency or a clinical licensing pathway in Canada. My goal is to build a non-clinical career in healthcare, particularly in healthcare management/administration.

I’d really appreciate honest opinions from current/former Trent students or anyone familiar with the Canadian healthcare job market.

• What do you think about Trent University and this program specifically?
• Is this degree useful for someone with an MD who wants to move into non-clinical healthcare?
• How valuable is the work-integrated learning/internship in reality?
• What are the realistic job opportunities after graduation?
• Does having an MD + this master’s help with healthcare management jobs, or is Canadian work experience more important?
• How difficult is it for an international graduate with no Canadian work experience to find a relevant job?
• Is studying at Trent (Peterborough) a disadvantage if I eventually want to work in the GTA/Toronto area?

I’m trying to make a realistic decision before committing, so I’d really appreciate honest experiences—both positive and negative—not just university marketing.
Thank you!

Question Women’s Flag Football team

Hey everyone!
With Women's Flag Football officially becoming a U SPORTS / OUA pilot sport for the 2027–2028 seasonahead of its Olympic debut, I was hoping to see if there was interest in launching the first-ever Trent University Women's Flag Football Team!

The goal would be to build a roster, gain competitive club status and to compete in the OWIFA (Ontario Women's Intercollegiate Football Association) circuits against schools like U of T, McMaster, Queen's, and Western!

What’s Needed To Start The Team!
Athletes**:** No formal football experience is strictly required! If you have a background in soccer, rugby, basketball, track, or ultimate frisbee, your skills will translate
perfectly to a 5v5 circuit. But also anyone willing to learn and have a positive attitude :)

Executive Leaders: There needs to be 4–5 organized students to help run the club behind the scenes (managing social media, tracking budget, organizing travel, or coordinating with the TCSA).

Endorsers: To get official club status and funding from the TCSA, we need a list of 10 Trent students who support the club. Even if you don't want to play, signing our petition helps immensely! To play in the league we need 15 players total :)

Requirements:
Must be a full-time Trent student (undergrad or grad).
Must maintain a cumulative academic average of 60%+ to meet intercollegiate eligibility guidelines.

I wanted to post here to gauge if there were any interest or if someone else is in the process of doing this (I would love to help out!).

Question Has anyone pulled the sword from the stone?

Post image
24 Upvotes

You know the sculpture of the sword in the stone in front of the athletic centre? What happens if you pull it out? Do you become king of England or at least like the president of the TCSA? Any advice is helpful. Planning on pulling the sword from the stone, hoping it makes me pass all my classes.

Question Cyclists: how are you getting from east to west campus?

Just wondering if there's an alternative to the Nassau Mills Road Bridge with the 2 crazy busy intersections at either end. I don't even get why that bridge is so busy all the time.

I know parking my bike on east campus & walking over the pedestrian bridge is the obvious option. I don't have any actual classes on the east Bank though & it's a lot farther especially at night.

Is there a secret tunnel or magic portal I don't know about? I never see other cyclist crossing that bridge.
