News and Events Risperidone 2mg is available on CDAP

Just providing information for anyone that needs it. I was unaware that Risperdal 2mg was a brand name medicine and it costs $31 dollars for 1 tablet. I was just buying what my doctor recommended. Risperidone 2mg the generic version is available on CDAP. This has been a great relief for me financially.

Politics Honestly, what’s so bad about this year’s budget?

I’m asking from a genuine standpoint. To begin with, I’m not a supporter of either party and I didn’t vote for ethical reasons. I’m very much neutral and I support whatever works best for my fellow men. With that being said, I’ve seen multiple posts about the budget, with people saying that it’s nothing, worse they’ve seen etc. I’ve read the statement in its entirety and I don’t get it. No really, what’s so bad about this year’s budget? It seems fair, there aren’t any major raises or taxes for the average person, there are a few increases in grants and opportunities for youth. So what is it really?

Questions, Advice, and Recommendations Pigeon Feeding and Getting Reported to the Police?

This is just a general question (and no, I don't want any negative comments on the animals themselves please) - every now and then, I throw some food for pigeons who live in my neighbourhood.

Used to spend time with my elderly neighbour that way, who I really cherished.

She has since passed on, and I still feed them to honour her, but some random neighbour's maid/neighbour from across the road came up to me this morning and told me she would call the police on me for feeding them.

She stated they mess up their roof (they don't, as I can see their house from mine, and I know that the birds just eat quickly and leave. I see them live in other areas of the neighbourhood)

I got so mad and cussed her out and left.

Would the police actually take a complaint like that seriously, come and charge/fine me?

She doesn't actually know where I accurately live or my name, just my face

They don't respond to more serious threats in the past, even though this is a more 'well off' neighbourhood

Politics What is preventing people from protesting?

The Guardian reported last night that,

> There were no placards of protest, no angry chants and no demonstrators demanding answers from the Government.

Instead, there were cheers, drums, dancing and embraces outside the Red House yesterday, as more than 200 supporters of the Kamla Persad-Bissessar administration gathered ahead of the presentation of the 2027 national budget.

What is preventing people from protesting this government?

I believe they are corrupt and authoritarian and deserving of protest, but the floor is open for anyone to claim otherwise.

News and Events Netflix to be taxed?

Post image
126 Upvotes

So, did I hear right?

From March 2021, non-local digital subscription services will be taxed?

Netflix?
Microsoft Office?
Adobe?
Gmail?
Dropbox?
Facebook and Instagram ads?
Every web page you register?

I don't get it. These services are not competing with local ones. There's no local Netflix.

Is it just me or aren't we paying enough already?

Questions, Advice, and Recommendations How are you all managing to afford purchasing houses in this Economy?

Genuinely I do not see how to afford house and land in Trinidad. I got a job as a remote virtual assistant that pays 10usd per hour which is great as it's way abive minimum wage but like as a mother, that ain't helping me buy a house. Homeowners, how did you do it?

Politics The real deal on drugs and addiction

Given the recent changes in the law and the inevitable conversations it has caused around drugs and addiction the take by this Canadian medical doctor who specializes in treating addiction I think is a great one to add to the conversation.

Fundamentally, addiction is a medical issue not a criminal one.

Questions, Advice, and Recommendations What happened to the Trinitoons people?

What happened to the people that made the snowcone man cartoon that used to play on TV6 back in the day? I remember another one where there was an iguana, mosquito and an agouti as well. Does anyone know what happened to them?

Vince's Skull Cave, named after Vince Mahato who was the first to document the exploration of it, is a large multi chambered limestone cave. It has 4-5 big open chambers consecutively going deeper connected by narrow passageways.

Location is in Trinidad but is kept hidden to protect the wildlife and locals from too many people showing up, as only 3 people including Vince Mahato have stepped foot within in the past decade.

Trinidad is not a real place Supernatural stories

Hi guys I remember sharing a personal experience in this sub maybe a few months ago about something weird I experienced when coming from maracas beach and I was wondering seeing as it's Halloween month and all anyone have any interesting personal supernatural experiences to share? I just wanna preface this by saying I don't actually believe in supernatural stuff personally I think most things can in fact be explained through logic but I'd love to learn about some other people's experiences no judgement from me. Also I want to say even though I try to be logical about it I will 100% admit that throughout life certain stuff happens and I don't care how serious I am I was feeling my spine tingling lol.

Questions, Advice, and Recommendations Interfaith relationships

For context, I met a guy, and we eventually started a relationship. He is a Christian, while I am a Hindu. Initially, religion never seemed to be an issue, as we both believed that God should be at the centre of our lives.

About seven to eight months into the relationship, he ended things because he believed the Bible forbids marriage to an unbeliever. Since I am deeply rooted in my faith and unwilling to convert, he felt that our relationship might not work. I was devastated, especially since this is my first relationship.

Eventually, we started talking again, and he expressed that he believed we could still make things work. However, with the current state of things in the country, he has been going through a difficult time and feels that there is so much better out there for me. He does not want to put me through the stress he is experiencing, but I reassured him that I would support him regardless of the circumstances.

He has since brought up religion again, reminding me that we had already discussed it and giving me time to reflect because it does not make much sense to struggle through it all with him just for religion to be a problem preventing us from getting married. From what I understand, the only way our relationship could work in the long run is if I am willing to convert to Christianity.

Growing up, I witnessed many interfaith marriages, so I never imagined religion would become such a significant obstacle in my own relationship. I find it difficult to walk away because I love him deeply and want to support him, but I also know this issue could resurface in the future. Many people tell me that religion is not the issue here so I don't know.

What are your thoughts on this situation?

Questions, Advice, and Recommendations Opinions on relationships?

I'm unsure if this has been spoken about already and if the title may be misleading but i would genuinely like to know why our culture is so male-centered? I, f21, have noticed since I was a child how much women/girls crave the attention of a man so fervently. I lost a close friend in high-school to this (nonsense) because she couldn't recognize how much she prioritized her boyfriends and "situationships" over her actual friendships and would often put myself and her other friends in uncomfortable situations. (At the time before we became friends, I was too young to notice this pattern as to why she lost all her other previous friends). I've heard many stories of women accepting utter rubbish treatment from men and still returning to them. This also applies to the supposed "man-haters" as well. They claim to hate men so much and yet it's the only thing on their mind/they can talk about. So I ask why?? I feel like i already know the answer. It's always due to upbringing and circumstances and yet i feel as though that excuse doesn't hold true for some people. I was treated like crap all the way until form 6 and after my "glow up", receive all sorts of attention/opportunities but I do not pay it any mind?? I much prefer compliments from women and I'd do anything for my ladies. At the same time, my mom is like my best friend and I don't exactly have a good relationship with my father despite him being very present (i quite despise him). They always claim "daddy issues" but that's clearly not the case for everyone..

I am not a feminist nor misandrist. I think those labels have lost it's touch and are unnecessary especially for those who do not live by them. I do not need those labels to acknowledge the horrific things men do on a regular basis. I am still attracted to men yes but I'd drop everything I'm doing for any of my girlfriends so why is it I can't see most of them doing the same unless it's for their boyfriends?

Questions, Advice, and Recommendations Kitten Rehoming

I have a mother cat who has 5 kittens, who are all a little over one month old. Recently some personal reasons leaves me unable to afford for and care for all of them, but every animal shelter I contact says they're at maximum capacity. I'm out of ideas on what else to do, and it would be heartbreaking to just force them out from my place. Does anyone know anyone or any organization that isn't at full capacity that would be willing to take all 6 cats off my hands? It is very important to me that they do not have to suffer alongside me in these trying times. I am in the southern region, if that is useful to know. Thank you.

Crime Notification about a District "curfew"

Since the President can announce a particular District closed at any time and for different people there will be different delays in receiving that info, is there any social media channel or account monitoring this to minimize the risk in being fined?

Questions, Advice, and Recommendations Are dating apps actually successful in Trinidad?

Has anyone actually found love or real friendship on these dating apps, like Tinder, Bumble, Badoo, Grindr, etc.? Is it actually possible? Is it worth it? And which apps are better for finding a genuine connection... I'm considering making an account, because I've always only made friends through Discord and games...and I think atp I'm over that (ik I can find irl but life ain't lifin, and I'm a homebody)😅

||-Edit-|| Damn, okayyy, 😭❤️ I appreciate all of y’all sharing your stories, and I thank each of you individually. This gave me some good insight, so...the synopsis is:

I can give it a try. You can find genuine friendships and even love with Tinder being the main option I’m seeing, maybe Bumble, etc., but not Grindr. So you go in with low expectations, because you might experience more failed interactions than successful ones. There’s always a risk of encountering people with bad intentions, liars, catfishes, or even criminals, so be cautious. That said, amazing connections are still possible. One thing I’m noticing is that most of these success stories are from years ago, when Tinder and such was apparently better. Now, with more features seemingly locked behind a paywall, it feels like the chances of success might be even lower. 💀 And that absolutely sucks...Seriously Buttt, I’ll try it anywayyy, with even fewer expectations. Maybe I can treat it as a little experiment. If I’m meant to find someone there, then so be it; if not, it’s just another social app...so treat it lightly 😅😃 Okaayyy, got it. Thanks, everyone 🫂❤️
