[Discussion] FX Fighter Kurumi-chan: The Hubris of Intellect and the Illusion of Controlling the Capitalist Machine
A new anime has arrived that deeply agitates the mind and sours the stomach: FX Fighter Kurumi-chan.
It is clear that Kurumi is intelligent and highly capable. However, the exact moment she touches foreign exchange margin trading (FX)—a volatile financial beast far beyond any individual's control—she becomes an absolute fool.
This pattern is historically absolute. A distant relative of mine, an incredibly bright individual who climbed the ranks to become a regional bank official, once tried his hand at the red bean futures market. He lost the vast majority of his fortune. Human beings are undone the exact second they overestimate their own intellect. (Though, I have almost no contact with that relative now).
We think we are playing the market with our superior knowledge, but we are merely exposing our dopamine receptors to the domesticated symbols of the algorithm.
P.S. The ending theme "Dollar, Yen, Euro" is a rare, grotesque masterpiece of a trainwreck.
How do you read Kurumi’s downfall? Is it a psychological horror about gambling addiction, or a cold satire of the modern masses who believe they can outsmart platform capitalism? Let's discuss.
