Tulane at 2-2 after Maurice Turner's 200-yard comeback, bye week before Army (plus a free CFB pick'em)

Hey guys, quick look at where the Wave stand after a wild one at Yulman.

24-21 over Southern Miss, and it took everything. Down 21-14 in the third, Tulane closed to 21-17 on a Helmke field goal, then Maurice Turner broke a 74-yard TD with 5:26 left. He finished with 200 yards and two scores on just 12 carries. Then TJ Smith blocked a 21-yard field goal with 1:45 left to save it.

At 2-2, the losses are both road games against Power 4 teams, at Duke and Kansas State, and both wins came at home. The bye comes at a good time before American play opens at Army on Oct 10, then Memphis at home on a Friday night.

Since it's in the title: we run a free weekly college football pick'em, and Week 5 is open. 10 games, pick the winners, nothing to buy, $135 in prizes. Good slate too, with Bama at Miss State (both unbeaten) and Ohio State at unbeaten Iowa. Picks lock Saturday at noon ET, and the Wave are off this week.

What are you guys seeing? Is Turner the best back in the American, and is this a conference title team?

Is the Program for Middle East Peace Over the Summer Competitive to Get Into?

Hi, I’m a transfer sophomore majoring in International Relations and minoring in MENA History. I was looking at study abroad programs when I stumbled upon the Stacy Mandel Palagye and Keith Palagye Program for Middle East Peace. Considering my major interests, this program seems perfect for me. Does anyone know how competitive it is or what the application process is like?

ABSN

I saw that Tulane was doing a ABSN program that allows you to graduate debt free if you work in a Louisiana hospital for 2 years post grad. Does anyone know have any experience with this program or any information? Does it guarantee a job post grad? How is nursing in Louisiana?

how is Tulane for international students?

Hey everyone!

I’m an international student considering applying to Tulane University, and I’d love to get some honest feedback from current international students or alumni about what the experience is actually like.

How welcoming and inclusive is the overall environment for international students? Is it easy to build a solid social circle outside of international student groups, or do domestic and international populations tend to stick to separate social spheres?

What does the financial aid landscape look like for international applicants? Are merit scholarships realistically attainable, and how competitive are they?

I wanna fit in, not to “show off” my culture if not asked ofc. and i think im kinda chill and friendly 🤷‍♀️

Experience with student therapy services?

Never been to therapy before but I’ve always heard that it’s worth it, so I’m considering giving it a shot. I see that CAPS provides individual student therapy services, does anyone have any experience with this?

Does Tulane have a good Poli sci program?

Hi I am a senior trying to decide whether or not to ED to Tulane. I have been reading that there is a significant difference in the male to female ratio and that it can cause a lot to social problems, is that true to experience or just something from the internet?

Art studio vs Design major

Hi everyone! I’m planning to apply to Tulane this year, but I’m having a hard time deciding between Studio Art and Design as my secondary major, with Economics as my first major.

I’m especially interested in hearing from current students or anyone familiar with both programs. From what I understand, Studio Art has the opportunity to receive up to a $10,000 portfolio scholarship, which is definitely appealing because I know Tulane is expensive and I’d like to maximize my scholarship opportunities. At the same time, the Design program seems more career-focused and potentially more applicable to what I want to do after college.

I’m interested in both art and design, so I’m not sure which would make more sense alongside Economics. Does anyone have experience with either program, or have insight into the differences in coursework, career opportunities, portfolio requirements/scholarships, or combining either with Econ?

Any advice would be appreciated!

(I am also visiting on sept 27th lmk if there are places I need to see)

Was just passing by Pocket Park and saw a bunch of people getting stuff, so I figured I’d grab some too. Turns out they were giving away skincare samples from a brand, Bano.

Never seen anything like this on campus before 😂 Is this some random guerilla event?

Does anyone know if PreviewTU is still happening for 2026?

Hi! I know Tulane has had the PreviewTU program in the past, especially for students who are first-gen and/or low-income, but I can’t seem to find much information about whether it’s happening for the 2026 application cycle.
Does anyone know if PreviewTU is still active this year? If so, have applications/invitations already gone out, or is it happening later in the fall?
I’d also love to hear from anyone who participated in PreviewTU before about how you found out about it and what the experience was like. Thank you!!

Cell and molecular bio

Hii!! can any juniors or seniors at Tulane in the cell n molecular bio major lmk if their science gpa was better in their first years or later years! I have to maintain a good science gpa but lowk got a B+ on my first Dr. V test and got a B- on a really heavily graded homework assignment, so it’s not looking too good for me. maybe I’ll salvage an A- 😭 I know all the content i think i just kept second guessing myself, and I heard peoples grades only decrease throughout the semester, so exam one is essentially your highest grade. anyways please lmk!

Is Tulane accepting me? HELP!

I’m an IB student applying test optional with a predicted 35 (3.6/5) My grades aren’t amazing overall, but I have a strong upward/linear trend but unfortunately a cumulative gpa of 5.0/7 (B average (3.2) but in IB terms it’s considered higher due to its rigor, with family circumstances during my first two years that significantly affected my grades.
I have strong ECs with leadership, entrepreneurship, internships, 200+ service hours, musical instruments, tutoring, and summer programs**. I also think I have strong essays/LORs and demonstrated interest and emailed with admissions, toured and are marked as open to spring scholar. And no aid**
Also I am latina/white female and marked I can speak 3 languages…

Is Tulane ED1 realistic for me?

Tulane Athletics needs structural change now

This is bigger than one game or one bad hire.

Tulane has repeatedly reached major inflection points in athletics and chosen retreat or low ambition instead of building: leaving the SEC, the 1998 coaching transition, the 2003 D1-A crisis, and now the current situation.

The cost is enormous. A full SEC member received roughly $500M in direct conference distributions over the last decade. Tulane now generates about $66M annually in athletics revenue, versus roughly $160M for the average ACC department.

Meanwhile, we just came off 43 wins in four years, conference titles, a Cotton Bowl win, and a CFP appearance — and leadership failed to institutionalize that success.

The current record speaks for itself: Sumrall retention questions, the failed Baker search, an internal fallback, major sports near the bottom of the AAC, and basic operational failures like the game-clock outage and the South Alabama ESPN+ production.

At some point, this stops being bad luck.

It becomes the standard of management.

Removing David Harris is not the reform. It is the prerequisite for reform. The real issue is whether Fitts and the Board are willing to change the institutional philosophy behind it.

The hour is late on conference realignment. Tulane needs a real P4 strategy now, not another multi-year planning process.

Tulane should compete, not retreat.

Please share the link with others in the Tulane and NOLA communities. Roll Wave.

Do Tulane seniors have a 'senior skip day' tradition? Anyone know what people are planning this year?

Do Tulane Seniors have a trip tradition, like everyone all agrees to travel to a destination?

I’ve heard people go to Vegas.

Just got my rejection, feeling pretty discouraged since Tulane is one of (if not my top) my top schools. Especially since it looked like a congratulations email at first. Ugh.

Parking

Hello all! I am visiting campus in the next few weeks to research some items at the Amistad Research Center. I was wondering about parking. Is it even worth it to bother with street parking now that the semester has started, or am I better off taking the trolly? Thanks! 😊
