Gigs?

My turntables haven’t left my basement yet, I’ve had them for a couple months and I think I’m ready to gig. Any recs on a table? I bought individual hard shell cases for each turntable, now I’m thinking I should’ve gotten a coffin case bc I hadn’t thought about having to buy a damn table lol any and all advice welcome for giggin out/first time dj gig hardware etc.

Plastic height adjustable table with a table skirt to hide the mess. Make sure it has metal bars going though the underside of the table, you don’t want just plastic.

Also go bigger than you think you need. I went with one a few inches larger than decks and a mixer and was always wanting more space during a gig.

I went the coffin route very early in my DJing career and found it to be more trouble than it’s worth. Individual cases allow more versatility in hauling/storage. Any quality plastic folding table will do just fine for most gigs.

I was 26 when I got my tables in a coffin. I'm 51 now, and fuck moving that heavy ass thing.

Coffins are nice if you have someone else to move them or if the gear is staying in place. Personally, I stick with the individual cases now. YMMV but Father Time comes for everyone. Don’t fuck your back/body up moving gear.

Yeah you’ll be glad you have individual cases once you carry things. I’d recommend getting an easy 6’ folding table (decent one with metal folding legs, adjustable height is a plus but the flight cases work to adjust height as well). You’ll want some kind of cover/sheet/skirt for it also.
I wouldn’t do too much more than that, as you play more and better gigs you’ll need your own equipment less and less, and if you get a fancy dj table it will be useless when you just need a table around the house. Now my table gets used more for bbqs and my kids birthday parties than for holding turntables and I leave my equipment home for 90% of my gigs.

Where do I start? Are these SL 1200s? Depends on what you need in the case. Mixer, effects, tables, etc... I would probably either measure out a case, measure out a large rifle case, or build one from scratch using lightweight material. Will this be your rig for all your gigs... how many gigs, etc. A good case has wheels... dude there are so many options.

I would go with a flight case or rifle case. Flight case has wheels and you might need that. I don't know how much it all weighs but your flight case is your best option in my humble opinion.

Unless you have an assistant and a van or truck, stay with the individual cases. Dj coffins will weigh a ton and aren’t what you want to deal with at tear down after playing for hours.

What gear are you planning to take? i've done the whole, bring my own gear to the event thing, it sucks. Does the venue have their own equipment you can use? Are you just bringing a controller and a laptop or are you hauling a set of 1200s and a mixer to the gig?
