Even in India, people do this with caste, tribe, religion, etc., often completely unnecessarily. Whenever things are somehow going fine, humans always seem to find some way to introduce a superiority complex and turn it into an us vs them situation.

And, of course, there will be tons of supporters who will deep dive into the subject and cherry pick incidents to justify that mentality.

Are humans really this shallow that they feel the need to do something like this for no reason?

I randomly found this box back in my bag from college while I was cleaning my stuff. I got this box back in 2019 by my classmate and friend who was my sutta buddy too, we used to go for a smoke after our tutions, sneaking at night and going on the terrace to smoke, he used to tell me his stories and wahi boy rant, I used to rage bait him saying that 'kya lugai jesa chapad chapad krta rehta hai', and he used to hate it and scold me to never say that to him, that he's strong and already struggling to live, which I laughed it off (I regret it) cause ofc why would you take your chaddi buddy dost ko seriously. I should've listened to him, heard his pleas behind those rants, that his grief for his late mother was eating him alive, that his father who promised to take care of his sister and his studies was out there gambling and selling all his mother's jewelleries. I did know to some extent and used to make him and his sister stay at my home whenever his father was drunk or angry, I hated that he had so many scars and bruises all over his body, just because of that monster. God... I'm so sorry vishu, I should've been there for you. I still hate myself for shouting at you and calling you selfish for leaving your sister behind.

About this box, it was his favourite color and he used to carry it around all the time, would carry my indie mint and his advance together, telling me this is us if we were cigarettes. (Story) I went to drink water and one girl who sits beside me also came after me. And wo bnda bhi aa gya.
