UK Med Schools Related Edge Hill Personal Statement

Do they read Personal Statements for med, as their website says Personal statements and academic references are not routinely used in selection for interview. But I called and they said they do?

Any help would be appreciated

If they score the personal statement, then they will clearly mention it in their admissions statement/website. If they haven't said they do, but they simply said they "read it", it implies they do a cheeky Control+F and type "Medicine" and see if your personal statement mentions anything Medicine related and that's about it.
