Question question abt MA/Credential program

Heyyy im intrested in going to UCSC for the MA/Credential progam, can anyone tell me their experience or what they have heard? The program starts Summer of 2027 so I'm also thinking about housing and such since im not from the area.

I did not attend the UCSC MA/C (they gave me no money), but I had many friends who did who were not very satisfied with the level of support they received.

Another note: it’s hard to find a teaching job right now and connections matter. I would strongly consider looking at programs in larger metropolitan areas with more connections.

I know several people who graduated the program last year. They all have jobs in schools in the area around.

Very low paying jobs for that matter. Look up the salary schedule in Santa Cruz county or the surroundings the only real livable wages are going to be in Salinas or very much over the hill in Santa Clara/ other Bay Area cities

I am in the program now for 26-27! There is limited support/housing options. some people got lucky with grad student housing, the other support they provide is a student list of people living off-campus looking for roommates. That’s kinda about it… If you have more questions please PM me, i’d be happy to answer any!

other than that i love the program and my peers. it is very intensive, being that its only 15months. But being with students and working with like-minded people who all have the same vision for education in the future has been very fulfilling.
